![]() I find this seriously awesome; first, she will stream (yay!); second, the more she plays vs koreans, the better - it just seemed to me like she got insane improvements last year after Korea, so if she repeats it - aaaa I'm a happy bunny :D I think if she stays for a few months there again, end of 2014 will be - just like last year - a ridiculously one-sided domination by her when she gets back. If I'm not mistaken, I think she said once that even the ladder games in Korea are so good and much superior to other regions, that she's getting visible skill improvements.

That's pretty cool, I wonder if she'll be competing in anything while over there.

She still has ATC. Just tie her to the computer chair for 16 hours a day or so and we'll our first big tournament win from a foreigner since 2012.

Good point, worth elaborating a bit (as to why korean training is so good for Scarlett, and why Scarlett herself is so good) - I think Scarlett is on top of a very short list of world class players, that have serious chances at dethroning the korean domination once and for all, in international tournaments. If you look at what happened at the MLG GameOn Invitational, in the semifinals and the final, Scarlett obviously dominated. And the reason why I think that is, is that Scarlett is on a higher level - she has that subtle edge that makes the difference between champion and the rest of the grandmasters. If we examine the replays between Major and Scarlett, I think the biggest trouble Major had was with adapting to her play - if it takes you 3 matches to see that something's wrong with your thinking, then you're simply not at that level yet. When Major tried new stuff it was already too late. That being said, I have much respect for Major, I think his technique is top-notch, but he should've played much differently against Scarlett. He didn't, he stuck to what he knew best (out of fear of trying new things in a final maybe? tough call, many pros would've done just like him) - but Scarlett is not predictible. She is very smart and highly versatile. Trying new things against Scarlett was key, because she's not like the others who stick to the book play. All in all, putting Major in the same match with Scarlett was like feeding a sheep to the wolf. ----------------- Starcraft in many aspects is much like chess. It's worth comparing Scarlett's play to the chess play of Garry Kasparov (considered by many to be the greatest chess player of all time). If we look at why Garry Kasparov was so consistently good, there are a number of reasons. - where chess grandmasters were thinking 10 moves ahead, the champion was thinking 20. He was that good. - getting back after losses like it didn't even matter (Scarlett getting back 2-0 against Illusion after losing 0-2 to him) - Kasparov made huge sacrifices in order to gain strategic advantage (Scarlett's all-in mass-mutas while trading the whole base?) - Kasparov would sit for hours and analyze his own games at times, inspecting each and every mistake - I don't know if Scarlett does this, but considering how skilled she is, there's a high probability that she does this a lot and consistently. - Kasparov said Nervous energy is the ammunition we take into any mental battle. If you don't have enough of it, your concentration will fade. If you have a surplus, the results will explode. ...Scarlett shines here. She has consistently shown amazing mental resilience. This alone is a huge advantage above other players. This is why I love Starcraft games betwween top players - from a certain point upwards, it's no longer a matter of macro/micro/etc (that's bulls!"t, Major had a wonderful macro/micro but didn't stand a chance vs Scarlett, his mental game was too low) - from a certain level it becomes a subtle battle of adaptability, intelligence and simply vision, which you either have or you don't. And if you're playing against Scarlett, you better have some flavour of that vision because otherwise you might as well go straight to the surrender hotkey and save yourself some time. Scarlett does have that brilliant vision, and THAT is what you need to beat the koreans. And the korean domination at the recent Asus Rog just emphasizes this. Until intelligent players like Scarlett do something about it, koreans will keep their supremacy. And training in Korea is just what she needs to achieve this. Btw if anyone is curious, there's a list of Kasparov quotes which I find a fantastic read for every SC2 player.

She just hates doing things when people tell her/expect her to (unless its placing high at a tournament). It's like when I was little, my mom asked me to clean my room right before I was about to do it myself! IHATETHATSHIT~

I have very mixed feelings about this article. It's great of course to hear from Scarlett but I feel she was used - it's written in a way that takes advantage of her to attack the subject of tolerance and such. Also the author could've easily left out the moronic twitch chat with retarded comments but that's what he actually targets with the article, to get more readers/views - he most probably gets paid per number of views. People should focus on making Scarlett comfortable, and respect her a lot more. Especially in the case of public articles.
