What was he thinking?
He was probably still playing on tilt from his game vs MMA
But this is definitely the worst series he has ever played. He knows MC opens with Stargate, he still does it. Not to mention he does the exact same build Moon did which completely failed.

It wasn't just the games he played against MC on Sunday, but in most of the games he played on Saturday and Sunday he looked completely vapid.
Friday he started out so strong, as Tasteless aptly put it playing some inspired Starcraft. I don't know if he was out too late Friday night, if he was tired, or if he just didn't take the matches seriously but something happened because he fell flat on his face in the series against Thorzain. He looked clumsy and just not prepared for the game at all. Clearly in the first match with MMA he allowed himself to get flustered and frustrated. And I can't help but think the same thing happened in the second (?) match of the second series with MC when Idra got cannon rushed and didn't even attempt to fight back, which was so strange because he was by no means close to being 100% defeated.
I think he could very easily be one of the top players in the world and very possibly the west's answer to Boxer. But he keeps just defeating himself in these situations, he really needs to learn to get out of his own way. I wish Idra the best and hopefully we will see him reach his full potential at the next MLG.

Actually it's just there is a counter to idra's style.
It's called making thors. It's why dde did well against him.
See MMA? Obviously better than dde, but had extremely hard time against idra because his drops did nothing and mutas constantly picked tanks off.
IdrA owns so much in TvZ because of his muta.
Then you have Losira, who plays roach/bane forever, and is 100% safe on the gound. But then when 5 medivacs are out dropping marines he 100% falls apart.
Thorzain made thors and idra couldn't harass, couldn't extend his economic lead.

no...it has nothing to do with the thors as select make like 5 of them and got crushed. It has to do with the fact dde and thorzain played better using thors and both cheesed at one point.

just confirming that you're talking about a couple thors rather than a lot of thors, right?
because we saw how idra deals with a lot of thors (tentacle rape)
i wonder if greg will continue playing for the next three years...is he gonna transition into a real job? no offense, but pro-gaming really needs to grow a lot more for there to be pro-gaming jobs...maybe he can be do QA or something
EDIT I was meaning if he can find some kind of way to feed himself while still rocking the starcraft 2 world. Would be very sad and wasteful if someone of his caliber were to quit...

Why would he quit? He already said that he makes enough money from his team to live comfortably (and you better believe he does since he values an hour of his life at $300). Getting 4th in a competition where the first 3 places were held by people who practice a hell of a lot more then you (idra himself admits this) is nothing to be ashamed of. The only thing idra should be upset at is the fact that he didnt play anywhere near his A game in the last day of the tourney, and this should serve as a nice motivation for him.
Lol i love how he says "I'd like to thank everyone who like me. (TA)" i also love his responses. I really wish he could've kept that confidence consistent throughout MLG.
