The part where the america special forces vs the japanese special forces (that are apparently meant to be amateurs) and the americans get owned LOL couldnt they have toned this down a little bit, also the american president just blatantly calls up the japanese minster to blackmail him, and then the japanese minster sacrificing his career for the great good or w/e. XD, i love the concept of this show, but the nationalism is over the top hopefully the anime focuses more on the fantasy vs modern day fighting and how that gets resolved.
my issue with them is how noble they pretend they are and yet they have not apologized for the atrocities they did in WWII, at least the Germans apologized.
They pretty much have no right to brag about their honor after the massacres in Nanking

man... i usually hate furry shit but I really like the main girl in utawararemono. maybe it's the VA
also, surprisingly decent progression in cavalry

I had no idea Owarimonogatari would be an actual cour. I thought itd just be a 4-part episode or something like an OVA. Guess Ill just try watch it and hope for Senjou sightings.

Pretty much the consensus of everyone eveer.

Between the two, I would say so. Although among them all, I'm not sure where I would rank the different seasons in terms of pure win.
(Feeling a little partial to Nekomonogatari Shiro, though. And not just because of the shower.)

Hey Im rewatching Magi since I put it on hold a couple years ago somewhere in the middle of S1.
But someone said that Magi goes anime original. Which seasons/episode does that happen? I hope its only done as filler and not completely deviate from the source. Stuff like this really matters to me, cause I like Magi a lot.

You're following the manga for Magi?

Ive only heard that Magi did some anime original stuff, but maybe I heard wrong. Thats good to know.
@Nagi: I dont follow the manga. I just dont like the idea of watching anime original when I know that the storyboard's primary concern is a budgeted schedule.

I have no idea what you mean by that last part. What does that have to do with you enjoying something anime original or not, considering you don't even read the source?

Anime original is always worst than source. Regardless if I read the source or not.

(Feeling a little partial to Nekomonogatari Shiro, though. And not just because of the shower.) Monogatari Series: Second Season wins this for me without a doubt. + Show Spoiler [quick rundown on the series in general…] +This was the first one where the change of perspective is used really really well. If you haven't noticed it: The way the world is drawn and the way the characters are interacting with each other depends on the person we are following at that time. In Bakemonogatari, Senjougahara is always depicted as being somewhat scary, hard and a little romantic in the end. Watching her from Hanekawa's perspective shows her soft side, Kaiki also sees her immature and insecure sides. It's not because Senjougahara switched characters or has multiple personalities, it's just the way people see her. It's also great to see the world through Kaiki's eyes for a change, the only adult to show us, how he sees the world; and it is vastly different from how the other characters see it. Nisemonogatari also did a similar thing when Araragi was fighting his sister and leveled the entire block... of course this is not what happened, but rather how he sees the fight with his sister; something monumental that can destroy his world. The toothbrush scene is similar, by the way.... doesn't make it good, but at least it explains why it's there. The main theme not just for the Monogatari Series, but also NisiOisin's other work, Katanagatari, is always perspective. it shows us the world - or in the case of Katanagatari, history - not how it is, but rather how we see it... Because that is all we can do.

Ougi continues to be Ougi, and drops a big hint with that line about a spirit haunting him.
+ Show Spoiler +The more I see of this season, the more I tend towards my initial thought of Ougi being an apparition of Araragi. With that in mind, I noticed quite a few lines that she said that pointed towards this. Stuff like: "Oh, you could say that I just came into existence recently" And how she has a perfect understanding of Araragi despite them knowing each other for only a few days. Although, if that's the case, then it won't be resolved this season, since Nadeko Medusa is after Owarimonogatari in the timeline iirc. Oh well, I'm curious how it unfolds either way...

Exploding firework BBQ? Dude nailing wood onto glass with a bunch of nails to fix a broken window? Coincidence cameras again? WTF is this shit? I am done, this is just too stupid... Yep, that anime is pretty bad. Felia must also be one of the worst characters I have seen in anime, ever since she was introduced she dragged down every single episode by making everyone act childish. I think it's time to drop it indeed. It's too bad though, it had one of the best episode 1 of this season. While Nezgar makes some good points, I don't think Felia's character is that bad. She was purposely made childish and it was explained back in episode 2 why it was the case. One problem I see is that it doesn't seem to be moving much storywise. Obviously not the worst character in all of anime history, but a bad one regardless. Explaining, why she is that childish, doesn't make it better or right. The problem that I have with the character - and everyone involved with her - is just how plain silly, stupid and nonsensical everything is. Like... none of the characters had a single intelligent thought for the entirety of the first 4 episodes. I sort of elaborated why episode 3 was so stupid, can do the same with this one as well: + Show Spoiler [Comet Lucifer ep 4 spoilers] +They know that Felia has some strange magic. There are 2 ways about it: 1. You hide the magic, make it clear to her and keep a close watch on her. 2. You help her explore and develop the magic, if only just to get a good idea what she is capable of... you know, in case someone tries to kidnap her (again). *sigh* They did neither. They felt comfortable showing her around and laughing at her doing magic tricks, yet scold her for using it in private for lifting a hammer. They never ask about it, never try to understand it, nothing. Felia is also very inconsistent in what she is doing or being able to do. She can understand people just fine, but not talk a single word. Then she can talk a little bit, enough to make people understand, while at the same time not understanding everyone properly again. And she switches between those two stages at random - or rather how the plot requires her to do. She can lift vegetables out of the ground and make them dance, yet she cannot defend herself against evil situations, because reasons. Probably because the people responsible for this mess felt like that a cute kawaii moe moe shit character like her needs to be a damsel in distress... Despite having magic and stuff like that. Then everyone thinks that it's a great fucking idea to walk all out at the same time and leave her unsupervised, letting her keep watch of the closed tavern (?) on her own. This is even more stupid when you remember that people tried to kidnap her twice before and are seemingly capable of tracking her with cameras everywhere, so leaving her on her own without any outside help is pretty much impossible for any sane character. But then again the plot needed them to leave so that the stupid henchman can grab her (while smashing flower pots, of all things). And don't forget the convenience cameras... Not only do they manage to get the right camera in the right spot at the right time at the right angle to follow the right pair of persons ON THE FIRST TRY, they also managed to activate a camera in Do Mon's backyard. Why is that camera there and how the hell do they know which one to activate in this gigantic town? Because the plot needs it to. Not even going to talk about the villains in detail... They went from threatening the weird guy with a knife while leaving him bound on the floor and calling him untrustworthy, to letting him handle all their operating systems within a few minutes while we were watching silliness unfold on the other side of the town. What the hell? And Felia is just a result of this shitty writing, if you could even call it that. It doesn't seem like the character is going anywhere or has any personality/validity of her own. She will continue to be a toddler that needs to be rescued, occasionally magic things happening and in the end it will be the MC who will save the day while her job is to be meowgeons. When I see a show that is not flagged as Shounen or Seinen, I expect some level of maturity in the themes it explores... Whether it be philosophical stuff, social commentary or just plain ecchi stuff. This show is nothing of the sorts and adults capable of rational thought are certainly not the target audience.

I thought Magi anime was fine on it's own. I didn't read the manga, so I don't even know what they did differently with it nor do I care. Only people who also read it notice the differences, for better or worse.

I feel obligated to point out + Show Spoiler +That Ougi, if an apparition of Araragi, is unresolved to the point that she (or, at the time, he) is still going to school with Kanbaru after Araragi has graduated and moved off to college (and, one hopes, cohabitation) with Senjougahara. This is found in Hanamonogatari - unless Ougi gets transferred somehow (in a way we don't know of yet) to Kanbaru. I'm still not sure if she's an apparition, but she is most assuredly not normal and I doubt she is a human.

Moe Pirates begs to differ. That anime original stuff was awesome.

It depends on the writer. Some stuff is pretty blatantly anime original like this latest World Trigger. Sudden stop in progression to have this random isolated incident that has no effect on the rest of the story? Reeks anime original even if you didn't know beforehand.
Highschool DxD S3 is another example. The random end that looped back in itself so it actually meant nothing happened again reeks anime original.

Me too, it's nothing like the first season (or rather prequel) so far. It's not really like Gate either... Gate at least had a really cool MC, and of course a story (be it decent or not), which Uta so far is lacking. + Show Spoiler +So far it's just the MC messing around and learning to know people...? Sure, we want to know who he is, but until this point there is pretty much no progress.
Until episode 3 I thought the show is really good, although a little slow at progression. But episode 4 was just super meh like you said. At first I liked Kuon, but episode 4 makes me want to reconsider that view. And the other girls so far aren't really likeable either. I sure hope the next episodes will be better, but I got a bad feeling.
Yeah, what I meant it has an adventure/action premise but sets its focus on cute girl designs and endless otaku pandering. But Gate is still superior, yes.
OPM was great again. + Show Spoiler +Although I feel like they could have done Sonic better in some areas. Dunno but I think his VA wasn't on point sometimes. His innocent grin was done well though.^^
Comet Lucifer is dropped. I'm also thinking about dropping Uta. I don't feel like putting up with a show I don't enjoy this season.
