+ Show Spoiler [LotGH ep59] +I really dislike the info dumps on heir history. It feels like a waste of time because I am not able to remember any of the names or dates anyways. It's like Guy x ruled then he was murdered, then Guy y ruled, liked abc and died in year bla, then guy z ruled but got assassinated. And it's not like I care for the history of monarchic heirs in RL, either. Just plain boring to me. All that it accomplished for me was to show how troublesome a Kaiser's life is and what is in for Reinhard in the future.
I liked the history session about the earth a few episodes ago way more. That one was really good and interesting.

Yeah its a direct sequel, you need the movie too since it bridges the events between the 2 seasons. TBH most of the first season is slow and stupid but important shit does happen in the second half that you kinda need to know.
|
Not sure why you'd want to watch Return of Kings without having seen the previous stuff anyway.
I'm catching up on Noragami, which I started a while ago and left alone, and holy crap Yukine is probably the most annoying thing I've seen in years. Why is this character so awful.

Watching LoGH again has reminded me of something I didn't quite like or understand about the story
+ Show Spoiler +Namely why did Yang fight Reinhard's Empire? Everything we know about Yang points to him hating useless war and having a strong idea of personal freedom. He knows the Alliance's system doesn't care about it's people anymore while seeing Reinhard's new Empire do everything he believes in to care about it's people. Everything suggests that the people of the Alliance will be better off under Empire rule. Then you have the issue of Yang knowing it's a war he can never win. The Alliance will never let him fight Reinhard on even footing even if they current strength wasn't so depleted. So why didn't Yang just surrender as soon as it was clear that Reinhard was ready to invade? That move would save millions of lives and free the people of the Alliance from this tyrannical rule. As soon as Yang's fleet is no longer blocking the Empire the rest of the military will crumble. Yang could have easily become Reinhard's new Kircheis to temper him while he builds systems in place to make sure that after his rule is over the people will still be safe.
It just puzzled me then and now it puzzles me again

+ Show Spoiler +It's something about even when there is a benevolent dictator, there is no guarantee that the success will also be nice. Mediocrity is better for the long run than some knucklehead ruining everything I suppose.

Working with a benevolent dictator to create a better society after the benevolent dictator seems like a far better idea than sitting with a corrupt democracy. Reinhard is basically the perfect dictator in this regard and Yang has all this info at this disposal.
The second point is more damning to me. He knows it's a useless war and they will never win. That goes against his character yet he still does it. Is it a case of it's better to fight and lose than to just give up?
edit: Looks like Symphogear is saving anime again. I'm still waiting for BD for GX. What an anime.
|
I watched all of symphogear like a week ago and my only real complaint was in season 2 + Show Spoiler +Maria almost managed to ruin that season on her own, thank god Ver managed to pull it back up to FUN towards the end
Was so much fun other than that. Hibiki is a goddess.

I like Maria when she was a cape wielding badass. Her VA is cool.

+ Show Spoiler +The thing I never really got about him was that he was first praised to be untouched and young and thus pure without evil thoughts. Later it turns out that this is exactly the reason why he is so vulnerable to be taken over by fiends because he is totally jealous, emotional and negatively tempered. Really made no sense with the way they described him when he got contracted.

+ Show Spoiler +The problem with dictatorships is that the current dictator has the say in everything. It pretty much doesn't matter what the predecessor did because the current one can easily reverse it all.
It's also fact that Yang doesn't know nearly as much as we do. All he knows is from more or less biased sources without ever seeing for himself, let alone meet Reinhard. He meets Reinhard for the first time when the Alliance got defeated. It's also fact that, while Yang certainly cares for his people, he is not selfless and lazy. It's an important part of his character. From all the information he had it was certainly not a safe bet to just surrender. Neither for his good nor for that of his people.
I don't know how far you are with your rewatch but there are some really good conversations with Yang (one being with Julian irrc) exactly about this topic. So you might get some more in-depth insights into his way of thinking there.

Hmm I don't know how many series will survive but so far I have put on tap 12 series from this season. Only one guaranteed to not be dropped is Owarimonogatari.
Of course if this season is the disaster it appears to be more time to read Mahouka and maybe watch some backlog lol.
And seriously just release Kekki Sensen finale already --;

Apparently Kekkai Sensen will be subbed by Funimation by the end of this week.

tbh i just don't care much about the kekkai sensen finale anymore all the hype and excitement is gone
i'll still watch it but yeah, what a fuck-up on the part of the studio, guess they can count their lucky stars it's still selling like crazy regardless
|
I honestly don't even know where the hype came from. The series wasn't even that good. It had 2-3 really good episodes and the rest was ok'ish at best imho.
On the other hand, what really baffles me are all the people (mostly over on MAL) setting their rating down because of the delay. It's not like the series got worse because of it...
|
MAL ratings have never been about how good a series is. For most people it's about how much fun they had watching it, and the delay made it less fun for a lot of people.
But i really liked kekkai sensen, wasn't my favourite show of spring but it was up there.
|
I had to watch kekkai sensen on 2x speed. The only parts I watched at 1x were parts with white and black in it. No regrets as i found most of it boring
I only use mal to find the taste of specific people. Easier to get better ratings that way since you kind of know what that person's biases are

Kekkai Sensen was probably my favourite show in spring. But spring was fucking weak for me so an ok'ish show was already very good.

I don't get why people would do that. The moment I'm so bored that I would up the speed to get by faster is the point where I drop the show - if I haven't dropped it already.

I didn't drop it for two reasons. I was interested in Rie Matsumoto's directing and wanted to see what she does and I wanted to know why it sold so much.
Oh yea, and I wanted to shit on some people (not anyone here) for lulz This is more of an exception rather than what I would normally do

If you watch a series in order to shit on some people I would call that a win for the people you are shitting on since you wasted your time watching a whole series you found boring

These were very specific people. Not random ones so it was worth for me.
