It feels like a waste of time because I am not able to remember any of the names or dates anyways. It's like Guy x ruled then he was murdered, then Guy y ruled, liked abc and died in year bla, then guy z ruled but got assassinated. And it's not like I care for the history of monarchic heirs in RL, either. Just plain boring to me. All that it accomplished for me was to show how troublesome a Kaiser's life is and what is in for Reinhard in the future.
I liked the history session about the earth a few episodes ago way more. That one was really good and interesting. + Show Spoiler +Eh, I don't really agree. I liked all the History Channel episodes. Maybe its just because I like history, who knows.

It just puzzled me then and now it puzzles me again + Show Spoiler +IIRC doesn't the anime just flat out tell you at several points? Yang has tons of discussions about his political philosophy and why hes doing what hes doing at many different points in the series. Yang is a huge supporter of Republican Democracy. Supporting a dictatorship would go against everything he stands for. Reinhard is an ideal dictator, yes, but the point that gets made, what about his successor? Or his successor's successor? History should speak for itself. If Yang just wanted to go the dictatorship route to "fix" the alliance, then he had more than enough opportunities to seize power in the Alliance, but didn't. He pretty strongly believes that a bad democracy is better than a good dictatorship.

Hibiki is a goddess. Maria is a huge shit. Her cape is cool, but I consider that cape to be a separate character that attaches itself to Maria. Chris the best. Hibiki a good.
My biggest problems with Symphogear was the rushed/forced "character development" of the FIS girls in GX, which also had the side effect of stealing character time from the main 3 as well, which ended up making GX easily the weakest season IMO.

ok then so far everything has been crap except OPM and Owari

My view of him was always that he believed in peoples rights and freedoms more so than any kind of system. Just that a good democracy is the best way to achieve that in his views. At the point of time that the Alliance is in and how overwhelming the Empire is I just thought he would prefer to avoid bloodshed while having a chance of "fixing" the Alliance.

At the point of time that the Alliance is in and how overwhelming the Empire is I just thought he would prefer to avoid bloodshed while having a chance of "fixing" the Alliance. + Show Spoiler +It has been a year or so since my last watch, but I do specifically remember the point of Reinhard's successor is not guaranteed to be as benevolent as he. Further spoilers if you finished the series: + Show Spoiler +Yang's ultimate goal was to try and take Reinhard's empire, and begin the process of turning it into a democracy. While Yang himself didn't live long enough to do this (it was to be his goal after the Battle of the Corridor, but then ep82 happened), Julian was able to carry on his will, and eventually at the end of the series negotiate the Empire on taking up a constitution, as a first step to eventually transforming it into a democracy. Anyway, I went and looked up some Yang quotes, since the guy has a ton of great quotes, to illustrate his views: In reality, it's dictatorship rather than democracy that drastically advances government reforms. But I think humanity ought to avoid being united by a dictatorship. While it's true Duke Lohengramm might have that talent, what about his descendants? His heir? Rulers aren't necessarily wise through generations... I don't think the entire human race should be ruled by a system where everything depends on one person's character. The Empire, with a few nobles ruling the masses, is bad government. The Alliance, with a government chosen by the people, is badly governed. Which one do you think is wrong? Or by Bucock, who shares many ideas with Yang: Democracy is the philosophy of making friends on equal terms, not of creating master-servant relationships. I want to have good friends, and I want to be a good friend to other people. But I don't want a good master or to be a good servant. Finally, if someone believes strongly in people having guaranteed rights and freedoms, there isn't any why they woudl support a dictatorship. In a dictatorship, people don't actually have rights or freedoms. They just have whatever rights and freedoms the ruler decides they can have.

And seriously just release Kekki Sensen finale already --; Apparently Kekkai Sensen will be subbed by Funimation by the end of this week.
Update on this: Randomly peaked on anilinkz and they had it up subbed.
//+ Show Spoiler +Ok, this felt like they poured the budget of an entire season into this one episode. Great artwork and great/lively animation. Also whoever created the visuals of the city is a freaking genius. I know I said this before but they outdid themselves in this final episode. Imho this let UBW look like kindergarten.
Overall this was very much in line with the rest of the show. The action was cool as fuck and the story was mediocre as fuck. 6/10 in the end for the show.

Utawarerumono 2 really feels like it's very similiar to the first one which is fine by me. First one really reminds me of an anime version of Suikoden so can't wait to watch more of the 2nd one.

Assuming this is first season, what exactly are you looking for in the show? Yeah the fanservice can get kind of repetitive but the comedy does shine through imo. I watch it for Kyon's inner monologues and funny scenes.

you can watch it for the fanservice but it's pretty bland compared to the newer shows focused in fanservice nowadays

Kekkai Sensen finale pretty good. Really nice visuals. I dunno if the plot/story was just that big of a mess or I am just forgetting things but I am not completely sure of what happened rofl.
Edit: After looking through the initial screening process looks like I have narrowed it down to trying these shows.
Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Umatteiru Comet Lucifer Gakusen Toshi Asterisk Heavy Object Onsen Yousei Hakone-chan Shomin Sample Owarimonogatari Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry Utawarerumono: Itsuwari no Kamen Subete ga F ni Naru: The Perfect Insider Taimadou Gakuen 35 Shiken Shoutai Komori-san wa Kotowarenai!
Has anything else stood out that might be worth a watch (besides OPM, I don't want to watch OPM)? I don't have much hope for many of the shows I even picked lol.

Yes, the plot for the entire show was a huge mess and barely coherent. The massive amounts of unimportant side characters that randomly popped up and served no real purpose didn't help telling a good story either. The finale was a pretty good summary of what was good about the show and what was not.

I went into it looking for comedy. I thought the first episode was really good because I liked Kyon's inner monologues and thoughts. He is not on the level of other characters I have seen but it was decent enough. It's just that the behavior of the three girls and the constant fanservice make it hard for me enjoy the rest.

List looks pretty much like mine. I can tell you that the shorts you picked aren't good. At least Komori-san is absolutely terrible. You can try AoT parody and see if you like the humour. There is also Garo if you have watched s1.
As for Kekkai Sensen: The story was a huge mess. It has never been the point of the show to have a plot anywas but they tried to fit one in and it ended up like it did. They should have just left it in an episodic state.

The show for me has always been about the mystery of the titular character and the mysteries around the main character himself as well as the intricate & subtle changes of the nature of relationship of Kyon and Haruhi along with the changes themselves overtime. The other charm of it are the relatable MC monologue and the philosophical dialogues about many random things..
The show is mostly about a lazy toxic MC getting dragged around by a hyperactive crazy bitch and the weird mix of serious and casual situations. If i survived watching it even though you know how i dislike ecchi fanservice in general im sure u probably could as well.
There's a none fanservicy anime similar to haruhi though it's Hyouka (without the fantastical and sci-fi elements just a feelgood SoL) still the same theme with the friends around the club doing club things and MC getting dragged around by the female lead but a milder version since Haruhi is very eccentric and crazy while Chitanda from Hyouka is just cute.

Thanks goody. I think I will give it a few more episodes and to see how it goes. I liked Haruhi's personality in the first episode. Crazy but somewhat quiet and introvert. Now she made a 180 and is harassing everyone. Then there Mikuru who is too shy to form a real sentence or making up her mouth when being raped by Haruhi. She is the epitope of female character without personality. And then there is the book girl where you have to wait 5 seconds after a question to get a one-word answer. That's what I was talking about when I said I was annoyed by the three girls.
I also had Hyouka on my ptw for a long time so I might try that after Haruhi.

You have a point. I think it's up to interpretation whether the author integrated such a character for comedical effect.

That's actually who Haruhi is Miragee lol She's faaar from a normally frustrated highschool girl and more akin to a cruel unstable tyrant since she doesn't follow the norms of many things. I can assure you though big part of the show though is her character development.
Well i'll leave the judgement to you

I finished Haruhi like 1.5 weeks ago and thought it's not much of a comedy. It's much more like Nagisama said. Well, to me the anime was maybe 7/10 but the movie was pretty great. My main problem was that I didn't like any of the characters that much... though by time I sort of grew to like Haruhi and Yuki was cute.
|
My main problem with Haruhi is that I didn't like any of the characters so it became a drag to watch. When doing a largely character driven story you have to make the characters at least interesting if they aren't likable. Haruhi failed to do either one.
