OPM is good but maybe the anticipation is too much so i feel a little let down here (giant fan of manga here).
barely any anime to chase so far this season...somehow worldtrigger2 is out?
wow this comet lucifer made me cringe so hard, am i too old for this shit lol Fujoshi pandering has been a thing since at least Wing, possibly even before lol
Wing was like boy band, and then a couple of them later had fujoshi elements but nothing like this next level lets get naked during fights yoho
seriously bandai man. are they going to sell naked pilot PVC figures now
|
I just don't see why its so world-shattering to you. Its the fujoshi who are a big element of Gundam SEED's popularity, there was again tons of it in 00 as well, not to mention men fighting shirtless happens all the time in shounen anime. Complaining about something like this is like complaining about female plugsuits in other mecha anime.

But really, they are shirtless because it would be a hassle to wear a shirt while having that metal thing on their back that connects to the tank

No I expected it to have the same glossed over methods of analysis but her actual interest, ethics, and behavior towards human remains is something anyone in that field would find appalling. Really? I never expected her to have interest, ethics and behavior towards human remains akin to those usually working in that field. If you watched a preview or informed you at all you would know that she was a total maniac. And honestly, I'm fine with this. Sure, a realistic show would have been really cool but from the first glance of the show I knew that this one wouldn't be realistic. What do you mean by glossed over methods btw?
Well its just a kind of a shock seeing her perspective on human remains coming from someone who has had hammered in respect for the dead and the cultural group it is affiliated with lol. Trying to take home and collect human remains for a personal collection is highly taboo (even acquiring specimens for museum collections etc you have to be careful). On methods I was specifically talking about her analysis of the remains, which were superficial and wrong at other times (one example being no forensic anthropologist uses cranial sutures anymore to age), its just glossed over for the sake of entertainment. There is no scientific rigor there. Like I said its pretty par for the course for a show that uses science so that didn't bother me because of the nature of making it entertaining.
But taking off my anthropologist hat actually made it a pretty enjoyable experience.

One of the things that is hard to do for a lot of people is to suspend disbelief about entertainment, especially if it's telling a story in which a field they know well is utilized as a storytelling device.
For example, ask a computer scientist about the movie Hackers. (Or any other depiction of computer science in any movie/tv show. I understand why; it's not something that's generally going to be visually exciting.) Alternately, space sciences people about Gravity. (I hear Martian did an okay job; haven't seen it yet.) If you can find a cat-eared alien girl, I'm sure they would have things to say about anime representations. But I don't care, if you find one, you tell me and I will drop everything to immediately go meet said cat-eared alien girl.

Also, I watched entire Endless Eight. At first, because it was there. At the end, because dammit I was trying to find the differences in each episode because why the hell else would there be eight? There must have been some clue or something important in them. (There wasn't.) I dunno, I liked the characters in Haruhi, although I think the spin-off series with Yuuki is probably better. (Then again, you may need to watch Haruhi and see the movie before hand to appreciate the differences in the spin-off.)

Did you guys warn him anout the endless eight? He already seems pretty down on the series lol. I've read all LN's too but only after i've seen all anime. So maybe i enjoyed the movie more due to that ?
Oh yeah Miragee if you are reading this regarding endless 8 lol just watch #1 #2 #8 or #1 #4 #8 of it . Trust me

I heard that originally it was just a 3 episode thing ? and then kyoani ended up with the 8 episode thing which was probably a bad move
Honestly as funny as the Yukki spin-off show to me it's like a standard good~ish romcom anime not like the main series. So i like the main series more.

The mecha in Comet Lucifer looks like a mecha gremlin.

At the very least, based Orange is doing the CGI for Comet Lucifer, so even though the dog gorilla's design sucks complete ass, Orange can hide that fact and make it look good in motion.

Looks like Sakurako-san got a decent budget, which strikes me as odd. The show was okay, even though the main girl is insufferable.
Comet Lucifer seems okay, if kinda generic.
I still maintain that Kekkai Sensen should've just been episodic.

Hehe I was curious so I read the MAL forums about episode 1 and it was basically just heaping all kinds of superlatives onto the main girl while saying the kid was really annoying.

I think i wouldn't have dropped the show if the main girl was a different girl.

Yes, yes it is. Well, not the dropping everything to meet them, but aliens with decidedly feline features. (I watched it between Summer/Fall season.)
I'm not set on alien cat girls. They could be cat girls from an alternate dimension accessed via some kind of spatial gate or time warp, ninja cat girls, or girls possessed by or possessing cat spirits and thus becoming a cat girl.
I'm sure there's a theme there somewhere.

@goody&co: Isn't the endless eight in s2? I have read it got a lot of flak and from the name I assumed it would be the same episode x8 with differences important for solving the mystery. But you guys make it sound like they are exactly the same. o.O

Yeah I get your point. When I watched Moyashimon, which goes in the direction of work I'm doing, I also thought a lot of things were just plain wrong, don't work that way or goes against any safety norms. I still enjoyed it because I knew it was just a comedy and to be fair, it also explained a lot of things correct. A friend of mine is a computer scientist and when I made him watch GitS:SAC he also complained about the hacking, although it was only a small point. I think he said "Who Am I" did the the whole hacking theme very well.

It is 8 episodes with "differences". But it definitely was not important for solving anything aside from solving how to turn a sane person insane... In contrast, the novel covered it in 1 chapter, and technically only going once around. It definitely did not write the same chapter 8x.

It's not EXACTLY the same. There are some differences in pictures shown and dialogues, but plotwise they're identical pretty much. NOT worth the watch.

It's not the same different character looks, different environment and among other things everytime. Anyways unless you are me who would willingly watch it like a couple of times you should only watch what's needed for that part which should be 1,2,4,8 or 1,2,5,8(personally this is the one i liked since this one has the noticable haruhi-kyon emphasis in the middle of the episode)
i didn't even notice what endless 8 was when i first watched it and i was not warned until the 3rd episode lmao
no normal person who doesn't wanna suffer should watch every single bit of it, luckily there's no need to watch all of it

I am hoping she gets better or maybe there will be side characters.
