I feel like I'm the only person I know who really hated AfterStory's ending. I almost completely ruined it for me. They were going for such an amazing ending, with him realizing that he has to live on, for himself and for them too. He can't get rid of the past, and the people he loves don't want to have it become a burden for him. AND THEN FUCK THAT SHIT, AMIRITE!
Thank you. somebody with the same opinion as i did. Although while i did enjoy the show overall i just wished the ending never happened. I was kinda pissed when the + Show Spoiler +
reset occured
however it "has" to be done.
Not that i didn't enjoy the show but this is one of the times where i like the movie more than the series since + Show Spoiler +
the reset didn't happen in the movie

Basically one of the issues with VN to Anime translations. You miss the sheer grind that getting a true/happy ending actually takes.

He made that decision regardless by choosing to be with her again anyway. For all he knew it would have happened to him again. But he said fuck it, Nagisa & Ushio worth it. That's why it wasn't ruined imo.
Unrelated, Bahamut ending was solid and pulled off better than I expected considering the number of episodes.
Oh remembers me that I wanted to watch it. Doing that now.

No. Would have been a good idea though. Used my shirt a lot instead...
Watched the rest of it now. I'm a little confused about the ending.
Nagisa surviving was just another route in the VN I guess? Or was it a dream, an imagination how it could have worked out. But Ushio really survived? I personally took it this way: When Ushio died the whole thing was translocated into a different parallel world in which both Nagisa and Ushio didn't die but both stories happened and Tomoya still has memories from the other world. Did I miss something?
From what I understand, the good deeds all accumulated throughout the series (part with the robot, magic) leading to Tomoya having another chance at living with Nagisa and Ushio if he wanted. In other words, they died but he had a chance to resume his normal life after Ushio was born with the wish. It's been a while since I watched it so hopefully someone can give a better explanation lol.
The girl in the "other world" is Ushio and the robot is Tomoya. Basically right as Ushio died Tomoya had the option of not going on the path that leads to him and Nagisa meeting and falling in love but he chooses it anyway. The magic/good stuff that was accumulated throughout the series is then used to go back to the time of Ushio's birth but instead Nagisa survives instead of dying.so it all turns out alright in the end. I suppose this is the way they tried to show the "true end" of the VN which you only get if you collect all of the orbs of light in the VN. In the end the accumulated light allows for Ushio to recreate the world to one where her mother survived and she isn't afflicted with that illness so her family lives happily ever after. I dunno if I explained it clearly but that is what I gathered from the ending + looking up some stuff about it.
I got the part with Tomoya being the robot and Ushio being the girl. But I was confused about the part where Tomoya remembered everything that happened and told it Ushio. So there isn't a parallel world where Ushio and Nagisao both died but a parallel world/parallel worlds where feelings of the city gather which can grand wishes depending on how "good" and "accumulated" they are? I also didn't get that it was his decision to meet her again that prompted the alternative ending. Cleverly done but a bit confusing. But it makes sense with the VN in mind, adapting this in an anime must have been hard. It's really important for me that I understood that he had to make the decision whether he would even meet Nagisa and did it again despite everything that happened and cursing himself for meeting her multiple times. wow. If Ushio and Nagisa aren't afflicted with that illness how do they explain that she repeated grades multiple times?

I will let it ease down a bit and will decide in a few days.
Not sure if you noticed but the story that Nagisa kept talking about, the one she couldn't remember the name of throughout the anime was the one about the robot and the girl (or at least as I remember, could be wrong). Well, I guess it's just the experience of living through it so it was till in his memory. There was never an indication that it would be wiped had he chosen Nagisa. Btw, when did he tell it to Ushio?
Yes, he made the conscious decision to meet Nagisa on that hilltop as she was walking to school. In the end, he decided that he'd rather take his chances and suffer through it again if it means that he's back with Nagisa and Ushio because he loved them that much. Don't remember about the illness part at the end. All I remember is that they went together to some field and that everything worked out.
Yeah, I noticed it pretty much in the beginning of Clannad that the story Nagisa kept talking about was the one about the girl and the robot.
He told Ushio over the course of the last "recap" episode. He was narrating everything that happened adressing Ushio and she would occasionally react. He also says something like "I remember it pretty strongly, I still feel like it is something that happened, somehow" towards the end.
It's been a while, but why didn't he end up with the kindergarten teacher friend? I always thought that would have been the best ending, Him with her and Ushio as her adopted daughter or w/e.
I feel like Kyou didn't fit Tomoya perfectly. Neither did Tomoyo. I really liked Tomoyo and watched the special episode about her but in the end I'm really glad it was Nagisa he fell in love with. Nagisa and Tomoya are such a perfect pairing, negating each others weaknesses. I feel like the story wouldn't have been nearly the same if it would have featured another pairing.
oh I see. Didn't remember that part, just remember that they went together as family to that field and such. I still don't see what's wrong with him remembering something about it since he went through the experience.

episode 1-6, moe episode 7, you see one of the band members and how she doesn't actually like to play her instrument episode 8, the other girls find out about her past, how her parents forced her to play the instrument even though she didn't want to play. It's always been her dads dream to be a great musician after all. She grew up to hate the instrument but obediently did as her father said. episode 9, shit's going down the drain. She's all emo, when beeing seen by others she's in rage, when alone she doesn't know what to do and is about to tear up. Her friends don't know what to do either because they saw that she really doesn't like to play the instrument so can't just go there and be like "yo, why not just play with us and have fun" episode 10, in a dramatic turn of events she takes her instrument and runs away from home in an attempt to trash it and be freed from her shackles. Her Father finds out and gets mad at her. Now shit's really going down the drain episode 11, she actually gets away with the instrument, sits on a bridge (most likely not one that crosses a road because dropping a tuba onto a driving car is dangerous kids) thinking about the times she had with it [note: in relation to her dad+instrument and being forced to play it, not the times she had with the instrument and her friends!] and gets mad before actually trashing the thing. Her friends find her, just as the thing falls down/deforms into irrecognizability (is that a word? Important slow motion scene of her instrument getting trashed as it hits the ground though), talk to her and she discovers the love she's always had for the instrument she thought she hated when really it was just her being a bitch yelling "I don't wanna" for the sake of being a rebellious little shit. She remembers all the fun times she has had with her friends playing together, shit gets teary as she looks down at what used to be her instrument, they all hug each other and cry. episode 12 fast-forward, they show how the girls spend time getting money to get her a new instrument (that's shown really quickly, like 60 seconds), time-skip a month later, they're sitting in their band room / school's music room having fun playing the intruments they love so much and they're playing better than they ever did before.
What do I get if that's the story? Now to read the synopsis of it and see if any of that actually makes sense.

Yay finally finished Bahamut. Really solid and surprisingly good. Still feel that the last episode kinda iffy despite having acceptable ending. + Show Spoiler +
The massive "plot-twist" is done well, despite hinting here and there from previous eps. But really after all the effort put in, supreme creature Bahamut is so contented floating in place and spitting fireball everywhere? lol, could have show more physical prowess. And then a duck kinda just fly in and drop off two dudes who killed Bahamut in 1 hit. Well played, so much troubles lol. Pitty Jeanne D'Arc watching helplessly though.

Pretty satisfying ending albeit a bit bittersweet, i am happy that they didn't just asspull amira out of bahamut so everyone could live happily ever after, that would've been even worse.
Also it ended with a "I'll be back" season 2 incoming, maybe? I sure hope so.
