I hope so because Gendry is awesome. i forgot about that scene. That had a couple of funny lines as well. I guess i could see it both ways there might be more to his story but it wouldn't be terrible if that was the conclusion to his story line. He just goes on living his life somewhere. Waste of a good actor/character imo but you are right. He is just a poor bastard with no tie-in to the story. I was hoping he would somehow play a bigger part in the Baratheon storyline since Stannis is dull as fuck.

I love how this episode started with Tywin giving his speech about family over selfish interests, and how he raised Tyrion well even though he would rather throw him into the sea. Then as the episode progresses we see Balon Greyjoy leave his son for dead and Stannis try to burn his nephew. It's things like that you can line up in a tv series that don't really connect so well in book form.
Theres a reason the Lannisters are currently sitting on the throne. :D

I liked the episode but I agree that the last scene was lackluster, they tried to make it epic but failed to do so. Just compare it to the ending os S1 (dragons born) and S2 (white walkers marching).
I really liked that Sam is sticking it to his haters though, by showing that the dagger he left was one of many.
I feel that if I wait 9 months I'd lose the burning interest in the show, so it's the books for me now. If I time it out I could read them so that I'll catch up with the series just as next season begins, and thus be super hyped for it. Sounds like a great plan.

I don't think even GRRM is sadistic enough to do that to us. I mean, having a Stark character get killed is one thing, having him/her turn evil is x10 worse.

I think it was a great episode. I liked how they tried to tie everything for next season which is, as we all know, a continuation of the same book.
My only concern was Stannis scenes. It was a bit forced or rushed to have him worried about a new threat, the red lady changing his mind that quick (or it felt that way) didn't help much either.
I haven't read the books so I don't know how it was, but it could have used some build up or more "epicness" because what I got from it, is that he is the only important character (not in the north) that is worrying about white walkers.

Good episode. I really liked the scenes were Bran told the story about how that chef got turned into a rat for harming his guests and then immediately switching to the 2nd worst person on the show Walder Frey who did the exact same thing. I guess he will also die pretty soon or something terrible will happen to him.
Also, Arya becomes even more badass. I hope she starts to train with that assassin and become one herself so she can wipe the floor with the lannisters.

Haha, Joffrey got slapped around so hard in that council meeting. Tywin and Tyrion are playing a dangerous game though. I wouldn't put it past Joffrey to sentence them to death on a whim. Cersei might even encourage him because she hates both Tywin and Tyrion.
I wonder if the next season will actually bring the White Walkers into play. They've been looming on the horizon since the very first episode, appeared to be an imminent danger in season 2's finale, but then never really "happened".
Shit, 9 months...!

Arya just looked at that coin and decided she wants to be a merciless killing machine in order to get her vengeance, after committing premeditated murder (stole a knife, got her victim's guard down). That's after she's been chanting a list of those she wants to kill to herself every night until she sleeps.
Her first kill was an accident in self-protection. Her second was out of anger. How long will it be before she kills out of habit?

Danys storyline has been the worst this season. Every single piece just falls in place for her. There is no effort, struggle or consequences. Sir Barristan joins her because why the fuck not, she doesnt want her army to rape and pillage so she gets an army that doesnt do that and she doesnt have to give up anything for it, Dario kills his brothers and give her control of his army because he wants to fuck her and they sack the city just like that and everybody lives happily ever after. BORING

Episode was Ok, More of just a forshadowing of next season. Hopefully it doesnt take forever again. I think she did him a favor, that way he looks like he fought the Wildlings instead of looking like a deserter. Pretty sure she is a good enough shot to have been able to put that arrow in his forehead if she wanted to. Yeah, I don't think it's a coincidence that she managed to hit 3 straight non-vital spots on a moving target. Poor girl... Except he didnt need to pretend he wasnt helping the wildlings, given he could casually explain everything that happened and where the raiders are. He would be believed. If she shot him in non vital areas its because she liked him too much to kill him, but not enough to not try. Oh sorry, I didn't think she cared how the Night's Watch would react to him. I just mean that she *should* have and *could* have killed him, but just couldn't bring herself to do it. I was just pointing out that her marksmanship is clearly very good given her shot selection. Given the medicinal skills in this setting those shots are likely to be kill shots at a later time anyway. He has to ride a long way and infection would set it resulting in amputation or death. Whether she "meant" to kill him or not she still fucking shot him. With someone as evidently experienced in the ways of killing as her, she has to know the likelihood of him living after that is pretty small. Especially the one in the thigh. Realistically, he wouldn't walk right ever again even if they manage to get him medical attention fast enough. now that magic is back for whatever reason, why wouldnt ameon just bust out some potion that cures all? we've seen dudes come back from the dead. a puncture of a major artery, a punctury of the lung and wherever that third arrow went in cant be that bad.
he was wearing armor, arrows dont penetrate armor so easily and since she is a wildling they will probably have no real war equipment (bodkin arrows) but just hunting arrows which wouldnt penetrate armor even at such a close range. the only thing that is threathening to his health is the arrow that penetrated his leg, which could be deadly if infected. the other arrows at most caused some broken ribs and internal bleeding.
also no artery was hit with mortal consequenses obviously because he wouldve bled out in a matter of minutes.

He thought that Arya might start killing "random people", and I said I don't think so. The people she's been killing all were her enemies, in one way or another. I interpreted "killing randoms" as something like "killing innocents", and I think there's no way that's gonna happen.
Think back at the red wedding episode, when she and the hound ran into the guy with the broken wagon. The hound wanted to kill him, but Arya said no. I can't imagine she'll become more like Sandor in that she'd kill in a situation like that.
Also, no need being a dick.

too cheesy in the end. good season. cant wait until next season.

I'm a massive fan of the series but I have to say, I had my head in my hands as it ended with that Dany scene. How trite and cliched could they make it?
Had they ended with episode 9 I think I'd be bubbling over with hyped excitement by now, as it is I'm brutally disappointed.

Shes got it in for sandor though, even though i think hes been pretty good to his sister and her. He would have to be a physcopath to want to kill him now, which isn't consistent with saving that broken wagon guy. If she does kill sandor it wont make much sense to me anyhows.

I don't feel that Arya will ever kill any random person just so that she can kill them. She has extreme discipline (taught by her father and Syrio.) She has a motivation to kill the people she has killed: to save her life (the stable boy) and revenge (the guy by fire.) She will *never* kill randomly for sport.

Also, one question about the Greyjoy part that I got distracted:
What was the Bolton's request to Balon? To have the Greyjoys leave the Iron Islands? ergo their own lands?
|
no they have to leave the north.

yeah that scene was bs. insult to the quality writing of the previous episodes.

Thanks! but I'm still lost. What troops do Greyjoys have left in the North? and where? (if the show has stated this clearly). I thought Theon guys that betrayed them were the only ones.
