The fact that you choose to ignore Daenerys' motives for wanting to conquer Westeros does not magically mean she has none. Maybe re-watch the seasons and pay attention to the backstory if you missed it somehow. She grew up with her brother, constantly hearing from him about how the kingdom is rightfully theirs and how the people want them back in control, how the "usurpers" murdered her whole family (all she has left is her douche brother, and her life sucks because of it), and to boot, those same usurpers try to have her assassinated.

But in general, the episode was not what I expected. Weaker then I had hoped. Theon Reek, Ayra, and Tywin/Tyrion scene were the highlights, as well as.
Surprised that they included so much Davos in this finale. Stannis portrayal didn't make me the happiest camper, but that's all I'll say about that. All in all, they set up a helluva lot of exposition and resolution for next season.
Now then, 10 months for the next season. Enjoy the wait! : ramsaybolton :

I'm sorry, I shouldn't make so much light of what was a heartwrenching scene.

I thought the first episode of this season was pretty terrible. I think thats my least favorite. Or all of season 2

Yeah the ending was a bit underwhelming, I think they should have ended with Stannis planning heading north and built that up a bit. And the whole warning all of the realm about the white walkers seemed a bit underplayed. Would have made for a more epic ending rather than Danaerys making more friends.

As I said in the spoilers thread it seemed as if the actress playing Khaleesi no longer is trying just acting out her scenes to be done with them.

great episode but I agree the last scene lacked the same sort of power we got from last scenes from season 1/2. We peaced out with Dragons and White Walkers so far, this year we were left with Dany riding a people wave...not terrible but not that gripping.

Ya, and that seems really believable for a pragmatic yet naive character like hers. The one thing that she inherits from her brother is an obsession with revenge.

Yep, conveniently ignore the other motives I laid out. She has been led to believe her whole life that Westeros wants a Targaryen on the throne and that it is rightfully hers. Is it that hard to believe that in combination with thinking she would be doing the righteous thing by the people by returning, revenge would be a suitable motive to return?
I mean, they constantly reinforce throughout the series that she firmly believes she has a birthright to rule. It's clearly not just revenge.

Someone mentioned how season 1 starts in ice, ends in fire (/heat). Season 2 starts with fire (/heat), ends with ice. Season 3 starts in ice, and following the trend would end up somewhere hot. Unless the fires from Lord of Light qualified I guess they had to end in Yunkai, as lame as it was.
(What, she destroyed a city's political system and freed all the slaves. Is she going to have them tag along her army and clothe/feed them? More like...ok you're "free", now have fun not finding any jobs or ways to feed yourselves in this devastated city.)

Is it that hard to believe that in combination with thinking she would be doing the righteous thing by the people by returning, revenge would be a suitable motive to return? Yes it is. Her entire life was filled with fear. Now she has a giant army, three dragons and two cities, and an entire continent between her and Westeros and so no fear. But still, she must conquer some distant place and kill a bunch of people who dont care about her at all because revenge and justice demand it.
Including her story arc just drags us away from all the actions in Westeros, she has literally 0 impact on anyone in Westeros and the only payoff might be that in another 3 seasons they can get a CGI shot of 3 dragons killing a bunch of zombies. And for that hours of footage has to be inserted and infinitely better characters get way less time. I want more Mace-Ceaser, I want more Bronn-trolling-douchebag-knights, I want more littlefinger-hitler, I want way more Tyrion-Tywin and more Lady Oleanna. All sacrificed so we can see cgi dragons, a naive blonde, a dude in a friendzone and now a surfer brah who got lost looking for the best surfgrounds in California and ended up being a warlord or whatever.

Well apparently if we look at her character, her reaction to being in fear her whole life is anger and generally less than positive feelings towards those who caused it. Yeah, completely unbelievable, right.
Anyway, I will settle for getting you to admit that she actually does have motives, even if you claim they are not believable.

Can believe Ygritte did that, what a cunt. I hope John gets to return the favor.
Episode was Ok, More of just a forshadowing of next season. Hopefully it doesnt take forever again.

I think she did him a favor, that way he looks like he fought the Wildlings instead of looking like a deserter. Pretty sure she is a good enough shot to have been able to put that arrow in his forehead if she wanted to.

Anyone knows how long I have to wait for next season?!

Yeah, I don't think it's a coincidence that she managed to hit 3 straight non-vital spots on a moving target. Poor girl...
