Well, the actor is only 14 but has grown like a foot since the first season.

There needs to be a certain level of cinema for shows like this to carry emotional depth. It's really hard to care about any one subplot when they just dart from unrelated scene to unrelated scene, hitting all of the major plot points, but not giving any individual one the attention it deserves. The last episode went so well because there was a lot of build-up and 'fleshing out' before the main event - it made it feel real and involving, and more dramatic because of that. A lot of scenes, like Jon making it back to the wall, or Jaime reuniting with Cersei, could have easily been saved for next season. They could have used the spare time to flesh out the more important scenes, like Jon confronting Ygritte, or Robb and the speared-on wolf's head. IIRC, the first time we saw Dany was right as the final scene started, and then we're essentially thrust into this separate plot that we haven't had time to care about, and epic music starts to play... it felt a little ridiculous. Compare it to Dany's season 1 finale - it's not even close.

Like he's got a secret that he won't let anyone else in on. I agree. He's quite compelling - hope to see much more of him next season.
