The season finale has so far always been nothing more than a preview for the next season. Episode 9's have been the real "finales", I don't know why people are expecting anything different the third time around now.

Well as a non book-reader, last season finale was pretty fucking amazing to see the white walkers. That is my opinion though.

Edit: Season 1 had dragons and I didnt know about those either... sooooo I think we kind of expected something here

Still a good episode, was expecting something even more crazy. The dialogue with Joffrey was amazing. The stuff with Bran was and always will be a snore however.

God I cant stand Danny, nothing about her storyline or actions interests me at all. Though Sams newfound slightly not horrible attitude and utility has caused me, for the first time, to slightly like him. Also fuck Ygritte, I hope Jon kills her slowly.

They cut the head off of Robb Stark, place the severed head of his direwolf atop his body, stick the body on a horse and parade it around town while chanting "The King in the North" as Robb's sister watches. And people are like "meh". We've become so desensitized.

Yea, I agree that it was good, not great. It's kinda hard though to compete with The Red Wedding.
Anyway, now the next season will be Spring 2014.

Tonight's episode was decent, but it wasn't what I expected from a finale. In the last two season finales, epic shit went down. I expected after the red wedding, more shit was going down. It was more like a happy closure for each plotline, which is actually pretty nice, but I was just totally not expecting it. Can't wait for season 3.

Is there any reason at all that they spent the last 5 minutes of the show on absolutely nothing but against reaffirming how magically awesome Danyris is (oh thats right, GRMM systematically murders anyone who looks like a good guy so it would have been 'too dark' to just end the show without a meaningless high note) ? She is obnoxious enough (I have no memory of WEsteros but I must reconquer it in blood because something something stormborn!) as she is but what was the point, were the slaves not going to follow someone who has the only army that wouldnt want to re-enslave her? Could have used those 5 minutes to give us some of Littlefinger or Bronn instead.
