Idk about that. I never watch any Cersei scenes and just get annoyed. Her character is needed to support the conflict and I feel she portrays her character well. Shae on the other hand seems to be completely unable to understand Tyrions situation and I feel like this is almost out of character. I thought she was supposed to be smarter than this sort of thing.
I totally disagree. Tyrion's losing Shae because he isn't standing up to his father for her. Compare Tyrion's passivity to Jaime's self-sacrifice for Brienne. Jaime's standing up for his woman more than Tyrion is. Shae's angry because she loves Tyrion, but Tyrion is trying to sweep her under the rug to keep his father happy.
Some people get angry at Shae for not understanding Tyrion's dilemma, but I'm more frustrated with Tyrion for not taking action.
As he challenged Shae with, what he would do anywhere else needs to be answered before he can do anything like that. He is more or less dependent on being part of his wealthy family. Unless he had some other support show up to replace it he would be in flea bottom, or whatever equivalent, juggling and cartwheeling until someone decides to associate him and his "dwarven curse" with some misfortune and kills him.
Jaime might be liable to do all sorts of "crazy" things at this point. Jaime is a broken man. He lost the one thing that was central to making him who he was, and he initially just wanted to die in response.
Tyrion is not broken, nor has he even been close to the nearest approximation by experiencing a particularly desperate circumstance. He is just shat on by a couple of the other members of his family as he has always been. That is nothing new to him. There is nothing to drive him to be willing to take the leap of abandoning everything he has for the dismal-erring-on-horrific alternatives that exist for him.
In other similar situations, when someone offers the "lets run away from it all" idea, it is widely taken as ridiculous and shot down. Doesn't the same apply here?
As ragingfungus said, Shae does tend to be good about understanding people's situations and motives and she should be aware of this. I'm tempted to say "plot hole" or "she is a misandrist", but it could be that her own background causes her to have an honest blind spot regarding what type of decision this is for Tyrion.
I strongly disagree. With Tyrions education, connections and above all his guile and ruthlessness he would certainly have been able to secure quite some wealth away from his family. (It's not like the conflict with his father is new.) As he so blatantly put it- he enjoys "playing the game" and he doesn't want to leave his family with which he has such a strong love-hate relationship. So yeah- Shae (or a life with her) isn't his #1 priority at all.
Since it's from the 4th (or 1st, depends on how you order them) star wars movie and the guy at that time appears to be 40+, he must play one of the very old characters in GoT. Maester Pycelle? Edit: +1 to me :D

Like the brotherhood worships the lord of light and they are one of the good and noble groups. Melissandre could just be using her blood magic and use the lord of lights powers for evil, when they probably could be used for good as well, like the brotherhood.
Stannis is king!
This is not true. Consider the old Gods and Brann's/Jojan foresight along with Brann's ability to control his wolf.
how do you know the old gods gave them their abilities and not some other explanation?
I am starting to consider that there may not be 'one true god' because there are clearly a lot of gods in here that have powers. It is a very strange concept to us because modern day religion is mostly teaching us to defy other religions because they are the 'one true God'. Now, without going on a real life religion tangent, it is definitely one of the bigger mysteries of the story line, and everyone will approach it differently.

Osha and Jojan talks a lot about it, and it has been sprinkled through out the episodes.
Don't start with the book spoilers again please!
The show doesn't "sprinkle" that at all ... Brann is actually a character we didn't see much in this season and Osha's only interaction with Jojan was in their latest appearance when she got mad at him, thinking he was brainwashing Brann ....
Does anyone have a resource that explains all of the religions in GoT up through current episodes without giving away spoilers from the 5 books? I am kind of lost trying to recall all of the religions that have been mentioned since s01e01, who is devoted to which religions, and a little background as to what each religion believes or teaches.
If there is no such thing, maybe someone could give a quick synopsis of the old gods, new gods, lord of light, etc. in a couple sentences.

Veers is from episode 5 or the 2nd movie depending on how you order them. episode 4 a new hope was set on tatooine and the death star primarily, with a little bit on yavin, veers was in none of these places.

Old Gods: Mostly the north, worshipped by lords in "godswood" very nature themed
New gods: the seven, in the south, worshipped in septs 7 aspects of divinity.
Drowned god: only the iron isles, clearly some sort of sea worship for the sea faring nation. not much else known besides apparently literally almost drowning people to be inducted into it.
Ry'lorr Lord of Light: from other continent, barely starting to spread to westeros, misandre + stannis' men and the brotherhood without banners are the main groups under this religion.

You can find some background info on most of this stuff on the HBO site.

Ah perfect, thank you. I don't remember the Drowned god at all actually.

I never knew HBO had this on their site. The info they have on there is exactly what I want to read through -- the rebellions, beyond the houses, religions, etc. Thanks a lot.

It was only mentioned when theon was on the iron isles with his daddy.that was the weird water ritual where they shoved theon under water for a while to bring him back under the drowned god's protection.
For all the guys wanting some more background, here are videos from the DVDs explaining most of the lore and history. There's some repetition but I think they are quite good.

Braavosi people such as Syrio and Jaqen have also mentioned "death" or a "red god" as being a god, so there are potentially 5 god characters we know about.

Potentially, all Gods are evil. This great song illustrates the concept:
GOD's SONG
Cain slew Abel, Seth knew not why For if the children of Israel were to multiply Why must any of the children die? So he asked the Lord And the Lord said:
"Man means nothing he means less to me than the lowliest cactus flower or the humblest yucca tree, he chases round this desert cause he thinks that's where I'll be that's why i love mankind
I recoil in horror from the foulness of thee from the squalor and the filth and the misery How we laugh up here in heaven at the prayers you offer me That's why i love mankind"
The Christians and the Jews were having a jamboree The Buddhists and the Hindus joined on satellite TV They picked their four greatest priests And they began to speak They said "Lord the plague is on the world Lord no man is free The temples that we built to you Have tumbled into the sea Lord, if you won't take care of us Won't you please please let us be?"
And the Lord said And the Lord said
"I burn down your cities--how blind you must be I take from you your children and you say how blessed are we You must all be crazy to put your faith in me That's why i love mankind You really need me That's why i love mankind"

dont read the part that says "in the books"(though it doesnt spoiler i think, just states the differences) otherwise, rest are in line on the tv series.
i feel the season 2 ending with all the white walkers was just to show off or something, they should have reached the wall by now or even in to the north.
also hope davos stays alive a lot longer, if stannis loses davos i fear mellisandre will take complete hold of him and gendry might not live. Also you can take gendrys blood and fuck him but please dont kill him he should fight along side stannis, only one left with king roberts dna, hes more of a king then joffrey. They did a good job casting gendry as well because he actually really looks like a young version of robert, hes already getting quite built, would be fun to see him go to battle with stannis wielding a huge warhammer/axe like king robert and his rebellion
