= 1 Lannister (still firmly in control, has the king, a good army and loads of money) ▲ 2 Tyrell (plays the Game well, about to have the queen, Margaery can control Joffrey, decent army and wealth) ▼ 3 Stark (lost the Karstarks, will soon gain Frey's forces) ▲ 4 Targaryen (playing Spartacus. Will be the strongest force when dragons grow and slaves and Dothraki join) ▼ 5 Baratheon (has not recovered from Blackwater Bay. Melisandre may still assassinate anyone with a shadow)
Agree/disagree? Also, where would the wildlings and the white walkers fit in the ranking?
At this point, I'd rank the wildlings at least below the Targaryens. Because I mean... The wildlings may be tough, but The Unsullied are just tougher, trained better, and have more discipline. Plus dragons. The wildlings are probably above the Baratheons at this point since Stannis has only lost men at this point and has not gained any.
Too little of the white walkers have been shown on the show for me to try and rank them, though.
Wildlings are dead last imo. Weak weaponry and armor, no naval capabilities to speak of, and they're likely far less skilled in fighting.
White walkers haven't been seen enough, but considering they can recycle their enemies as wights and the wildlings are fleeing from them, they must be badasses.

They are probably more skilled in fighting, but just like Jon says they don't know how to fight as a group.
Military discipline trumps pretty much all in those kinds of battle bar some super brilliant trickery. Just look at the Romans. A heavily trained and disciplined army can scatter a much much larger army in a straight up brawl without too much effort unless the rabble are all turbosupersamurai or something.

Would it be a good idea for a company to make advertisements with Game of Thrones spoilers plus a witty line and their company logo? Everybody would be talking about such an asshole company, and some say that bad publicity is still publicity, right?

Except they would want people to buy from them still, more even. Yes bad publicity is still publicity but the outrage that would come out of it would hurt them more than help imo.

that tactic works a lot better for celebrities than for companies though...
So I was looking at older episodes again and realised Varys at some point sneaked into Ned Stark's cell. It is a fact that littlefinger reminded him off in a later episode to blackmail him. However I do not really understand the reason behind the visit. From what I can tell Varys learned nothing of interest and I don't know him to be someone that would risk his own life just to chat with someone. Am I missing something here?
He wants to convince Ned to confess to treason. It may have been to prevent the war from escalating. Of course, Joeffrey being a total cunt anyway kind of botched that plan.

Varys literally tells Ned that he is a dead man. I don't see how keeping him alive long enough just so he can be publicly executed a few days later is helping Ned in any way. Also I think his 'I serve the realm' statement should be taken with a grain of salt. Varys hasn't really proven to be an altruist over the past 3 seasons. I might be wrong though. I just don't get this scene.

I guess that would explain why hes trying to guilt him into being responsible for Roberth's death.
If Ned had confessed the treason publicly, Robb wouldnt have any reason to invade the south. And I'm sure Varys is serving the realm, he seems to want stability over anything

This is the exact reason. Joff just ignored the deal and that's why the war happened. I think Cersei mentions it during Season 2.

Ned did confess in order to try and save his own life. He took Varys offer and Jeoffry simply ignored it and executed him anyways.

No, like he said to Varys he was ready to die. But after Varys brought up his children and how they would fare if he didn't confess treason, that's what made him change his mind. That's the only reason he confessed treason, not him trying to save his own life.
Varys and most smart people wanted to send him to the wall, so Robb wouldn't rebel etc. Joffrey is responsible for the war of the five Kings.
He didn't want to try to save his own life though, but that of his daughters. When Varys knew Ned wouldn't care about being executed he blackmailed him with Sansa and Arya which Ned had to believe the Lannisters held both.
