I have to assume there is some reason why he didn’t attack the group on the ground first. My only guess is that the dragon in the sky was the biggest threat to spraying fire right on the night king and the one on the ground wasn’t. Or the NightKing doesn’t want the conflict over kings landing to end and knowing killing Dany will do that.

Why he didn't freeze the lake when that is literally power the Walkers have shown before is a bigger question to me (I think he was there from the start of the impasse?), since once Gendry was away Dany was on her way no matter what and they'd be able to kill and raise a dragon. Maybe that would sap his magical energy too much to launch the spear or he was worried she would just nope and turn around if her buddies were all corpses. It is also very weird that even though we know for a fact the Night King stuck around the lake to raise the dragon he wasn't in the area when Benjen rode in to save Jon.

It’s funny...I did see one review where he just could not get past the airspeed velocity of a raven. If the show was struggling, if it wasn’t finding an audience, I would be up in arms about that and trying to press back, but it actually just made me laugh,” says Taylor. “You’ve got a [dragon] that’s bigger than a [Boeing] 747 [plane] with seven people riding on its back, and you’re worried about the speed of a raven being believable. OK, obviously, we’re not doing our jobs correctly for you, but it seems to be working for a lot of other people. http://www.newsweek.com/game-thrones-season-7-pace-criticism-director-alan-taylor-653038 I mean that's the sad truth. As long as people defend any pile of garbage (which the last episode was in comparison to the GoT standard) you cannot assume that the writers/producers/people in power would care. Not sure if i want 2 hour episodes for next season at this point.

I loved it. | ||

Not sure if i want 2 hour episodes for next season at this point. I had a growing conviction that all those (mostly minor) plot holes and illogicalities in recent seasons weren't actually mistakes and that they were included in the script purely to get as many "oooh!s" from the audience as possible. I'm glad they're honest about it. The show is still enjoyable if you treat is as braindead fun, I really recommend not caring about those things. Obviously it's annoying that they wasted the potential of s1, but it's hard to blame them for choosing to appeal to a bigger, less demanding audience. With that said, if I see a new show advertised with "from the writers/directors of Game of Thrones...", I'll just laugh and ignore it.

The plan is as dumb as it gets. Would be funny if cersei gets the wight presented by Dani and John and is like "well yea thanks guys but i already have a 3 meter zombie mountain so thanks i´m good" Now even ravens can teleport, the timeline and geography is completely out of the window. Drogon, a Dragon that in s4ep1 almost bite dany for food is now a rescue helicopter for everyone, nice. But by far the worst for me is how non threatening the army of the dead was/is. White walkers were feared like nothing else in GoT and now we are at "ow a white with some zombies, lets get him!" The wights are super non threatening against an armored army, a handful of half frozen guys can hold them back (yes it was an allstar team but still) and in his biggest battle yet, against his most dangorous opponent (dragons) this supernatural magical beeing... throws a spear. I fell in love with this show because being stupid had consequences and got you killed. It completely lost that.

I don't know what to tell you but it's just that obvious. On August 23 2017 04:19 Manit0u wrote: The books weren't that good to begin with... Nah they are pretty damn good actually. Sunday’s ice lake battle was challenging enough, but Dormer had to contend with using only one eye, since Beric had lost an eye during one of his many deaths. “Whenever I’m playing the character, I basically walk around with my right eye closed the whole time because there’s no depth perception with just one eye,” he said. “If you close one eye and imagine a bright light constantly in front of the other eye, your vision is compromised. You can only see about 30 percent of what you should be able to see. “That’s pretty scary when you’ve got a sword. But the thing is, we rehearsed so diligently. We were there I think it was three hours a day, five days a week for three weeks before we even shot anything. I was there a lot because I had to know the steps, I wouldn’t be able to see much so it was up to the stunt guy to do a lot of the work [around me]. I was going to hit them at a certain place. They had to make sure that they were at that place and not another place; otherwise they’d get hurt. They made it look effortless, like a dance. It looks ugly, but it was very choreographed, the entire thing.” When the action moved even higher as the wights surrounded the group, Dormer found himself in an incredibly precarious position for any person, much less one with diminished eyesight. “My worry was that near the end of the fight we get pushed further and further back,” he said. “If you notice, from the top shot I’m standing right at the edge of a 30-foot drop. That was scary. That was the scariest thing I’ve ever done … I was the one closest to the cliff edge.” Although no one got hurt, Dormer had one other handicap that the others didn’t: a flaming sword. “Every time I moved it in front of my face, one, it would blind me, and secondly, it takes away all oxygen because fires eats up [oxygen],” he said. “So my fear was not collapsing. I didn’t want to black out and look like a wuss in front of the other boys. It was scary. We were boiling hot in the skins, but our heads were freezing cold. There wasn’t enough oxygen for me and I couldn’t see anything.” Source

But then Martins “this isn’t fantasy” took over and he spun his wheels for two books while abusing his readers who figured out the end already. This all could have been avoided by not dragging his feet and giving the internet unlimited time to speculate.
