Honestly though, we know nothing about the witewalkers. They could open portals from parallel universes to summon more versions of themselves for all I know. They have the plot armor to propel the story forward by whatever means necessary. So trying to argue against their logistics is pointless.
This is the problem with the "Night's King trap" theory. It's "Now you see me" level of stupidity where they show one thing to the audience and then pretend something else is happening as the shocking reveal. Either he uses them as bait or he doesn't. If he does, he wouldn't sacrifice any of his wights to break the ice. He wouldn't attack them at all when the ice is thick enough again. He would wait with the spears in hand and not let the dragons wreak havoc at first until the scene is sufficiently build up for maximum shock value. If you show us clear intent to kill the group as ineffectively as possible then don't pretend afterwards it was a master plan to lure the dragons out. I think the show just doesn't give a fuck and simply assumed the bulk of the audience doesn't care how stupidly convenient everything was.
What else. - In the immortal words of Cinemasins: "Jon survives this.(ding)" - Jon is rescued for the second time in 5 minutes by a deux ex machina Benjen that then dies for no apparent reason. - The Wights try to "rescue" the captured wright. - THe Cunts try to protect the captured wright at this point. - Jorah is fighting Skeletons successfully with daggers. The NPCs use spears. Stab those Skeletons in the heart! - The idea that Gendry is good at anything besides making weapons. Him running over snow covered lose stones in the fucking mountains after he complained how hard hiking the same distance is...ffs. - The whole conversation up to the unbear. "Just let them do smalltalk, it will be hilarious, they love the characters." Those 10 minutes were so fucking wasted. Maybe i am unfair here and earlier episodes had the same level of dialogue but this was boring. I don't need to have every person talk to every person about what they have in common, this is not speeddating. I guess the last season will have those guys share more screentime and they try to build it up, i just don't care about if Jon respects Jorah or if the big guys are homies... - The Arya Sansa dynamic is so off. I don't understand it at all. First Arya is a little brat that doesn't show the least amount of empathy for her sister, then her sister sends Brienne away? Why would she do that? What? Then Arya tells her that she is a magical assasin, threatens her life and then just walks away. WHAAAT?!?!?! - After it took Dany one night to come to the rescue, they now wait for potential hours because of course Jon comes back and Dany is so in luv! Then, because time is still not important and Jon can't be at WInterfell just yet or the fake drama would stop, they now travel back by boat? WHAT?! And Jon suddenly wants to bend the knee even though his lords would still hate him for it?! It was never about his pride. FFS!
At this point i agree with those that like the show. I don't even know why i still watch it because i don't enjoy it anymore.

Honestly if you're not watching GOT for cheap fun by now, you should. I do think it's a waste of such an intense show.
Moving on: i'm curious what Bran is going to do, he's gonna play a big part anytime now right? Also I hope we get to see a white walker dialogue, perhaps the classic vilain explaining his reasons, would be probably kinda forced though.

i'd say if they could make 10 episodes season and it would be smoother/better, with lesser mistakes and plot holes
but what's done is done

I feel like GRR just gave the showrunners 15 bullet points with how the series ends and they had to make due with that, and connecting those bullet points was hard I guess

Yeah the moment where she was all like "i hope im worth it" was pretty good. As if she felt Jon could sympathize with the burdens and just for one second she showed the "scared little girl" on the inside.
Fire swords also made me go like I guess that's a not too shocking thing when you see all the dragons and zombies.

There's 3 dragons: Drogon, Rhaegal and Vyserion. Named after Khal Drogo, her older brother prince Rhaegar, and her other brother Vyserys. Vyserion died.

Book 4 is one of the books that is boring on first read, but amazing on second read. All the extra details you notice.. At least that's how it was for me.
I agree Martin had probably no clue how he was gonna do the ending when he told D&D, in fact he might still not know all the details since he has (my estimate) about 1000 pages left to write.

The only things that really bothered me were the really oddly paced sansa/arya scenes and the goddamn stupidity that is Benjen jumping off his horse for no goddamn reason.
I thoroughly enjoyed the rest, implausibility notwithstanding

I have a big problem with how easy it was for the nightsking to kill Viserion. Like he simply threw a spear, that's it. It was portrayed in a way which made it seem like not a big deal at all for him. So if they stay consistent with that, the dragons should basically be a nonfactor against the white walkers.

Maybe this will serve as an excuse to keep the dragons away during the final battle (Dany too scared to lose them etc.), which allows for an epic 1v1 showdown between the night king and whoever survives until that point.

Apart from that it was clearly a trap by the Night King and I think it was made clear before he had Bran like powers so good chance he knows very goddamn well what's going on. The dragon visuals including death scene were simply amazing. I guess the point of this dumb expedition was for the Night King show Dany his "welcome to the North bitch" tricks and to get an Ice Dragon ofcourse.
Other parts were less good. They are really pushing it on the time and travel front. Feasable or not, I don't think it's good to make the audience have to rationalize or calculate if its possible or not. Jon and Benjen as well. Guess they wanted to end the Benjen ark but this felt lackluster.
And Arya omfg would you give it a rest? After all the shit you've been through is it really that impossible to cut your sister some slack?
All in all I think DnD aren't idiots and they're doing the best they with all the story lines. At least they push forward to an ending where mr. Martin seems to be stuck in a writers block.
Same. I bet they will be back to steroid like super zombies in the next fight, unless they outnumber the main characters on a combat.
That said, it's impossible to not enjoy a fantasy medieval war against an army of zombies.

Every Hollywood movie/show ends with the hero losing their weapons and start punching each other. Weapons of mass incineration dont help with that.
|
I wouldn't love to get punched by someone who can throw a spear like that

yea, he literally has strength of advanced ballista

Jon rides other dragon, they fight nightking, who rides frost dragon. Heavy metal album cover art continues its reign of awesome.
