Roose Bolton made a feint at Tywin while Rob crossed the the Green Fork at the Twins and made for Riverrun, catching Jamie off guard. Lannister didn't have proper scouting so the Stark cheese worked. Come on jaime, that's what the minimap is for !

Like clearing the weather or sth, so they can walk on winterfell ? Imo they made it pretty clear that burning little girls alive does nothing other than making you a disgusting motherfucker. That's kind of the only redeeming thing about the last episode, I sure wouldn't want to watch a show where you can do something like that and get away with it.

Well it changed the weather and we don't know that stannis is actually dead. Plus common girls are raped / killed constantly in this show look at how easily meryn trant got ahold of a bunch of girls and everyone was okay with it because its just a normal thing.

If anything, the whole point of GoT as a show is that you don't need supernatural explanations to trivial events, even in a fantasy setting. So far there has been no evidence that human sacrifice to the Lord of Light even has any effect. Thoros of Myr doesn't sacrifice anyone to bring Dondarion back, it just happens, none of the real stuff Melisandre does is fueled by sacrifice as well. Her "distant murder" of the false kings and weather change are indistinguishable from common superstition, the former happen for actual real reasons, the latter is as likely to be a whim of nature. The reason she is so shocked, imo, is not only mistakenly seeing Stannis as a champion of the Lord of Light, but the realization that her whole way of honing her god is fucked up which is probably why she is misled with Stannis in the first place. She realizes that a common drunk is a better servant to her lord than her.

They aren't waiting for the books.

The exact nature of Melisandre's god, and the Great Other, isn't supposed to be known yet, because it has to do with the very endgame of the entire series. We know for sure that Mel is capable of some kind of magic, like the assassins, but it clearly can't be done at will or whenever she pleases; as she always stresses, it's ultimately out of her hands. GoT is quite hesitant to show things like magical spells being performed by humans. Melisandre is the closest they've gotten, and as I've said already, the nature of her abilities is highly ambiguous, even to her.

Only a minor future event that might not even happen in the show. Because there is more background on the books, there is more material for speculation, so you should still care a little bit for pseudo-spoils.
