Honestly I did not mind this episode with its tragedies etc. It seemed appropriate that Stannis army was just massacred. Being "badass" and determined or whatever does not mean you become invincible and will beat superior numbers. John being killed by his comrades wads logical and just a matter of time. Arya killing was badass and fittingly gruesome. Dorne was meh like usual. Cercei walk of shame was a little longer than needed and even felt a little misogynist.
What I did not like is how Stannis as the leader of his army was suddenly alone and then somehow found by Brienne.
the end of the youtube video shows previews for other videos one of them being davos and shirreen smiling and laughing together i really thought shireen was going to have a bigger part D: i feel like that greyscale is more than just a random disease but its already super crazy to think about its not just ur cells dying or w/e they're actually changing into stone? (is it stone? well its not definitely not normal skin lol) also it turns them crazy like that definitely seems like it should have a touch of magic about it.
John Snoooooooooooooooo. What an episode :O. Whole season is pretty boring and then so much happens in this one... I really thought 'wow Benjin returns after 5 seasons' but I should have known better. I hope Sam will Avada Kedavra Olly once he learns that from a spellbook in the library. Fuckin Olly. At least Stannis and John will make some fine white walkers.
Really happy Varis is back in the story, with Snow dead he's one the few OG's left. Happy for Brienne that she got her vengeance. I like how they needed to make us hate Meryn Trant just a little bit more before he died.
It seems like the CGI guys made a Rome Total War engine and really wanted to use it. Like the whole series every scene is kept small in scale but now Daenaris has to be found by 5000 bloodriders instead of just 4.
Jorah is going to have a fun time listening to Dario's stories about which positions he's had Daenaris lol.
Pretty excited for Zombie Mountain to start a sovjet religion free rule in Kings Landing. He's good with confessions as we saw in the Oberyn fight.
Dorne plotline is a worse love story than Twilight and should be kept off the blu-rays. It's so bad it hurts.
I wish they had spread the events of the last episode over the whole season tbh this show doesn't suit the "everything happening all at once" style. Good ending though. I love how angry people are getting again because John Snow is dead. So many people are done with this show again. The same who were done with it after the red wedding probably.
Westeros is fucked now. All the awesome characters are in Essos. Something needs to mix it up a bit for the beginning of the next season imo. Hopefully the Hound is alive, and we get to see much, much more of Littlefinger next time. Those two would be able to wreck up everything.
I do wonder what happens with the wildlings now that sir fuckalot has taken over the nights watch again. They'll probably have to go plunder some villages again to survive, so all John's work is undone.

You see you'd think that's the case, but resurrecting Jon Snow wouldn't be silly or undermining. Jon Snow ''just dying'' would not be best for the story in my opinion. There was so much left for him to do. All previous major deaths have had characters who really had nothing to develop on. Now that I think about Stannis more I think he's dead as well since he doesn't have anything to add to the story anymore.
Jon Snow, on the other hand, has so much to add to the story it would make more sense for him to be resurrected than to just be dead forever. Like what is Melisandre going to do alone at the Wall? Seriously, why is she there? The only reason that makes sense is the person she was staring at creepily when they arrived.
You'd think it's a strength of Game of Thrones that anyone can die, that's not really the case, it just makes us THINK like anyone can die.
There are plenty of other characters for Melisandre to interact with at the Wall, Davos/Sam(if he isnt gone yet) And I kinda expect Sansa (after being picked up by Brienne) will show up aswell.
John himself has no real part left to play as per your own theory. He has gotten the wildlings back to the wall and all his knowledge resides with Sam. He wont interfere with the politics of the 7 kingdoms so he has nothing to do until the Walkers get to the wall. And even there he can do nothing because the only weapon against an army like the walkers are in the hands of Dany(Dragons). His job was done.
Some people have alluded to Littlefinger, and he has a part to play for sure. But he is in the end no help to the end goal. He doesn't care about White Walkers other then saving his own skin. He isn't going to rally the lands of man. He desires power for the sake of having it, little more.
Cheap theory: In S1 and S3 both heartbreaking death have happened on episode 9. The following episode often looked as some confirmation your favorite character died. Jon Snow dies in episode 10 and closes the season so no "confirmation" in order to keep viewer guessing a whole year.

Sam's already gone. And you're right, Jon might not have much to do until the White Walkers come but they will and he is needed. You kind of contradict yourself by saying he has no role and then also say he is useful when the walkers come. The walkers might arrive next season, who knows? And what stops the writers from not having a lot from Jon Snow next season if they were to resurrect him? There was no Brann this season either, they could do the same with this one. Then there are the theories I've heard which I don't know are allowed in here now that the show has pretty much caught up.
Pretty good episode but as Jockmcplop suggested, I really hope they spread the carnage out a bit. Seems like the story is getting rushed.
Jon Snow: I knew that when he came back to Castle Black he would not be on friendly turf. The moment Olly mentioned Benjen to Jon, I felt a pit in my stomach. It was like watching a cartoon mouse following a ripe block of cheese dangling from a cat's fishing pole. I knew what was going to happen, and yet I was forced to watch as the murder unraveled. It was a strong scene, but I had hoped that Jon would throw in a "Et tu Brute?" at Olly in the end. Watching Jon's face turn pale on the "snow" seems like foreshadowing of a whitewalker future for him. I don't like resurrecting characters (it feels like a soap opera mechanic), but he would make an awesome whitewalker. He would suit his wolf, "ghost."
Dany: Doing Dany things.
Cersei: How the mighty have fallen. A horrible fate, but one deserving of only a special kind of person. There will be blood in king's landing; we might actually get to see a "Red" Keep. Hats off to the high sparrow for making a play for the throne in such a smart manner. Letting Cersei go back to the Red Keep is either a brilliant tactic, or it will be his undoing. Can't wait to see his next play.
Tyrion & Vyris: YAYA! Two of the best players of the game finally get something to work with.
Dorne: I feel like if they executed the storyline better, Myrcella's death would have been much more horrific. I was not expecting her to die. Really sad for Jamie, he was finally happy for once in his life. Seconds later, all his happiness crumbles in his hands.
Sansa and Theon: LOL Theon is dead, there is only Reek now. Sansa is about to get royally screwed over. I love how everyone thinks "Theon" saved Sansa. Unless Brienne finds Sansa and kills Reek, Sansa is about to experience a whole new nightmare.
Ramsey: Doing Ramsey things. Officially the new Tywin Lannister, he gets things done. You might not like how he conducts business, but he gets results.
A decent season with a strong last episode. I can't wait for the next season!

Can't remember the exact line but my god...By far the worst season to date, sadly not feeling very hyped about GoT anymore
yeah...that was kinda bad :/ i also expected alot more fighting from the sand snakes, from before the season started when they did that little intro video with the sandsnakes they seemed to be like training with weapons and i thought it was alot of fighting scenes but iirc there was only 2 if u count the spear into the head of a dude buried into sand with zero movement not saying i could do it but it didnt strike me as impressive

Like what some of you have speculated, I think they're going to explain that bit better in the next season. Basically the theory is that the Stannis encounter was more complicated than what we saw went down.
