Worst season by far. Dorne was supposed to be hype and instead it just makes me cringe. Jamie and Bronn heading there was just silly and has so far done nothing. It's also not a logical decision to head there alone. The writers are too busy toying with the viewers rather than giving us a good narrative. "Let's have Bronn and Jamie do something that makes no sense so we can still give them camera time. Let's have the Sand Snakes and Jamie/Bronn get there at the exact same time so they both don't accomplish anything. Let's have Bronn get poisoned so viewers get worried and then the girl that poisoned him shows her boobs and gives him the antidote just because she felt like it."
The Sand Snakes plot is also so bad, I mean Oberyn's Paramour is at the Water Gardens, within reach of Myrcella. And instead of trying to kill her herself, maybe through poison or something, decides to ride far away and get 3 more girls, then ride all the way back to try and kill her, only to get there at the exact same time as Jamie/Bronn, resulting in nothing.
Tyrion's plot also felt weak ever since the stone men and that weak ending with Jorah. Took him forever to get to Daenerys when her storyline could have really used him earlier. This episode, I was waiting for Tyrion to do something clever to be taken with Jorah, but instead he does something that is so luck based that it's just hard to accept that it happened that way. Then when Jorah was at the fighting pit he wasn't chained which is fine, but then why was Tyrion chained? That makes no sense to me. If he was unchained like everyone else he could have just walked out. Instead we got some made up suspense scene where some unknown dude decided to free him. Not even sure what that was. Also when Jorah took his helmet off I expected him to immediately let her know that they were slaves, which she obviously doesn't know. Instead he says nothing about that and remains silent until mentioning his gift. How did Ramsay figure out who that old lady was? How did Nario Daharis know that harpy dude was behind the wall as well as his exact position? This season is more comedy, coincidences, and soap opera love scenes than all the others. Time to read the books I think.
With all that said I still enjoy the show, but I feel very guilty about it this season. Braavos and King's Landing are doing fine I guess. Sansa doesn't seem to be doing much in Winterfell other than suffering which is disappointing.

I've got to agree, The quality of the writing has been really poor compared to previous seasons and everything just seems to be grinding to a halt. There's been no well written new characters and the scope has just narrowed too much.
Tyrion & Jorah just coincidentally happening upon Dany is a massive indicator of how far the show has fallen. No hardship or work required then, just one massive stroke of luck.

This Sansa storyline is starting to get boring imo.

That's were the budget went.

HAHA My god what a fucking epic episode. Dany + Tyrion is everything I though it would be!
|
Those animated skeletons are shitty looking. They give me bran flashbacks. This isn't narnia. Stick to low budget undead. Also looks like we won't get the epic Stannis battle this season which is stupid. I mean you can't fit in all that content into episode 9: fighting pits, wall, Stannis. Jorah is probably going to die. Huge death flag on him ever since the grayscale which basically forced him into the pits. I predict a tearful goodbye from Dany as Jorah perishes. Valyrian steel HYPE.

Very tense chapter btw, the best in the whole season so far, if the alive men dont have a weapon of mass destruction, it is going to be impossible to stop the white walkers.
|
Not to double-post or anything but a thought just came across my mind: Jon is going full Mance Rayder. Uniting all of the clans by telling them "you will die" and marching on the wall exactly like last season. My, my how the tables have turned!
|
Only two episodes left I really hope last one isn't a full Sansa, Khaleesi episode as that would suck hard.

you can never go wrong with a zombie army slaughtering ppl

So Vallerian Steel confirmed works vs whitewalkers along with dragon glass (obsydion)? I know the steel is extremely rare (atm we have what, 3 swords? (Jons of course and then the 2 that were melted from Neds, currently Oathkeeper (brienne (sp?) and the one that was given to Joffrey at his wedding (not sure if they showed what happeneed to that sword after his death). But dragon glass isn't that uncommon if I remember, I'm pretty sure I remember a scene where Tywin was explaining that an entire keep/castle was built with it.
Also it seems the zombies can go into the water, but didnt at the end. (Pretty sure the children that killed the Eldress were her own who she had put on the boats before, so the zombies got to them. That or she just saw zombie children and couldnt fight vs the children? If those weren't her own children and the zombies wont go into water just flee across the narrow sea, ezpz. Overall I'm happy with this episode after I raged at episode 7 for just doing shit that I knew was going to happen anyways.

i don't think the zombies had an ambush team in the water and then somehow brought back some children, i think she just couldn't kill them because they were children, maybe a child she lost years ago or something.
man that giant fucking owned

Probably correct. And yeah the giant was awesome, hope we see more awesome giant since it seems he lived! :D
Some deaths bound to happen. I thought for sure Jon was fucked. The scene with Sam and the boy Sam goes "and he always comes back" I yelled NICE WAY OF TELLING US HES GONNA DIE. But I mean he just lived vs the whitewalker it seems so hopefully he stays. Pretty sure Jorah is boned, he is gonna redeem himself but die for Dany, or redeem himself then exile himself b/c of greyscale. Either way I think Jorah is gone after this season, which is sad cause I liked him. Something more is gonna happen to the Lannisters (that is tommen/jamie/cersie, maybe even Kevin now that he is in the capitol), I think several if not all of them will die, though the most likely to remain alive is Jamie I think. Unfortunatly I think whether or not Tommen dies is irrelevant, which might be a weak point in the story (surely a kings death should have large implications), but it makes sense from previous events because His grandfather and mother made him their puppets on purpose, yet now they are both gone/unable to rule in his place so he is useless.
But yeah again I just want to say I really liked this episode. Tyrion + Dany hype and finally some impending doom from the whitewalkers that have been afk for quite some time, hopefully they dont afk for another 2 seasons or whatever.

2 week for the next episode right? what a cliffhanger, finally!

Best episode of the season so far imo. Episode 8 always delivers. Can't wait for more Tyrion, he's finally back where he belongs, playing the game and drinking wine. Hopefully Dany keeps making smart decisions with him around now. I see something bad happening to Arya, maybe at the hands of that other girl, during his attempted assassination. I also half expect for the zombiefied Mountain to go busting through the sparrow dungeons any moment to save Cersei and then she horrible tortures that nun like she has been saying she would. I also worry Tommen might be suicidal with both his reasons for living locked up and away from him.

So the valairyns were meant to be like much more advanced than everyone else right? and they were making those swords (makes me wonder if they were making them for the whitewalkers otherwise pretty convient that it works vs them, also what is dragon glass again? is it like rock thats been burnt by dragonfire? if so and the valarians had the dragons in the first place i guess maybe dragon glass is a crude version of valarian steel?)
From those like HBO game of throne animated, slide shows iirc it was basically like, valaira were just orginally really smart/advanced and w/e and they also had magic, which then they used to tame dragons right? (also explains why dannys dragons are out of control) and then i guess they discovered some how that dragon fire could be used instead of regular fire in forges??? + magic = valarain swords, that also gives credit to the theory someone said in here that the end game would be to have dragons vs the whitewalkers (also anyone else notice the lack of ranged/siege weapons, i guess throwing masses amount of bodies has been working pretty well so far why change) but so then all the valarains randomly die, except for a few some, who then get on the remaining dragons and conquer westros. Theres so much history i wish they would explain, they're doing a pretty good job with the mini clips after every season but still i wish they went into it more in the show i wouldnt even mind a whole ep just explaining everything in the past.
I personally didnt really feel like the cersi scenes needed to be in there, i mean for this ep like they kept showing how shes losing her pride but nothing really came of it from the ep, i guess its a setup but we probably could assume her situation from what we saw margery experience.
I have one big question tho was that the entire wildling army? if so they're super fucked (i guess jon brought enough boats for everything, either that or they planned to make multiple trips but i doubt half the boats are filled) also where were the giants there was only one (i understand for budgeting probably) but couldnt they have at least shown some blury background giants just running away? now theres only one left??? and how the fuck is he gonna get on a boat
edit: the nights watch dont know how they originally defeated the whitewalkers like ages ago right? i remember an ep where sam was looking through books for an answer also makes me wonder too because short of the entire nights watch having valairan steel i dont really see how they could have defended, the snowball effect on crow deaths would be too much, as long as u have one zombie kill a human u could just resurrect him much later on.
Anyone else think that was an avalanche instead of the whitewalker fore coming, also after they showed it was like a zombie cloud i thought everyone in the cloud just autodies like the mist kills them or something but i guess thats not true because later on the walls break and the mist gets in (also how would walls stop mist) and everyone seems to be fine

Ok that was cool but mby they could have split this episode's budget in 2 and make something cool for the ridiculous dorne/sand snakes scenes as well. Tyrion hand of the Queen, oh yeah.
|
I love the Walkers, such a chilling (dohohoho) demeanor about them :D
The resurrection of the wildlings at the end was beyond badass.
