+ Show Spoiler + Honestly I think a four-legged mecha suit would have been a better idea here.

Its only 13 episodes, unlike the first series, which had 21-22 episodes per season. Less room for the double episodes. But I am really looking forward to the double episode dump next week. Edit: All these comments are making me very happy about my policy of not watching the series until there are a least 3 good episodes in the chamber.

+ Show Spoiler + Although, I sincerely, genuinely, really reaaa-hea-heally hope they don't do a "giant versus giant" fight again. Please let them take down the giant mechatank some other way. I don't want a replay of Giant Korra vs. UnaVaatu. Never again. The idea of a mechatank like that isn't bad either, I just think it would have looked a lot cooler if it had been four-legged. I would picture it as one of the Planet's Weapons from FFVII, or maybe even the Ultima Weapon from FFXIV:ARR. All in all, interesting developments. It seems Baatar is going to have some sort of redemption arc, but I suspect he'll end up either dead or in jail by the time it all ends. I really wonder how it's going to play out though. I have to admit I haven't got the slightest clue. Really loving Zhu Li's progression as a character. Her standing up to Varrick was so refreshing. It's pretty clear that they're going to at least be heading toward becoming a couple by the end of the show, especially given Zhu Li's little speech. Anywho. Looks like we have a promising series finale on our hands. I hope it lives up to my expectations, because this Book 4 is grandiose.

I just hope they don't botch the whole "more level-headed approach to being avatar" plotline again. They tried that more than once, and it always ended with Korra fighting her way through trouble.

You got two huge armies. They're ready for battle. Everything has been leading up to this. Do you show the battle? No. One side surrenders. No fight no nothing. I guess they ran out of budget because they were using still frames this episode. And the stupid weapon. The entire time I was thinking "really?" A giant mech suit is probably the stupidest thing I've ever seen in avatar. First of all that thing is made of more metal than her entire force. Even more. Maybe 10 times for metal was used to build that ridiculous suit than all her tanks and golaiths. Come on. And why the hell is it humanoid in shape? Oh I wonder how on earth can you destroy it? How in the seven hells will you take down a giant, wobbly construction with no base and supported by two skinny legs? All you need to do. Literally all you need to do is break one of the legs. Throw a giant boulder at it or shoot it with a canon. Bye bye suit. Have fun collapsing and killing everyone inside. How the hell does that thing get built unnoticed anyway? You need to spend years to build a carapace like that. Did Jolee seriously not know about its construction? I'm sorry to say but this entire episode was amateur hour. And when everyone's life hangs in the balance and you can't bring yourself to torture one shmuck to figure out what possible structural weakness a giant rickety suit might have then you have screwed up priorities. As I recall Korra already tortured someone by putting their face in Naga's mouth back in season 2. Has she lost her will completely? The enemy has already destroyed plenty of your ships, garrisons and fortifications. That's hundreds of lives lost and you can't bring yourself to torture one man? I get that it's a child's cartoon but they never shyed away from violence in the past. Just don't make it graphic.

there were too many people there to have nobody die, but i dont expect one of the core group to be seriously injured (maybe enough to take them out of the fight). "sidekicks" like kai/bumi/beifong twins are imo the most likely to be seriously wounded

I get that it's a child's cartoon but they never shyed away from violence in the past. Just don't make it graphic. I see some of your points and agree with them. I was a bit taken aback when I saw the giant mechatank. Honestly, I don't like it, but they've seriously delivered in the last two seasons, so I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt. I'm disappointed though! Really, why couldn't we have a FF7 Weapon-like mechatank? The giant humanoid robot-thingies are so 80s. It was cool and new back then, but now it looks rather ridiculous, no matter which way you put it. On the other hand, I wouldn't be so sure about the battle being bypassed. It hasn't even begun, and while Raiko did surrender, I'm pretty sure there's going to be a lot of fighting either way, especially with Kuvira blasting the building where Baatar + Avatar Team were. If they actually don't do the battle though, no doubt it will be due to budget constraints, and there you can blame Nickelodeon. It's well established now that they majorly screwed over the creators. As far as the construction of the mechatank goes: I imagine this is why Kuvira had Zaofu's metal domes dismantled. That is a ton of metal right there, those things were huge. Add that to a bit (more like a whole damn lot) of metalbending, and you have the mechatank. Still, it's a stretch, but whatever. If the ending holds up, I'll be willing to look past it. I think we can cut some slack to the creators. They really had it bad due to Nickelodeon, and they adjusted the show's quality to a pretty amazing extent after Book 2. I trust them with the ending. I'm thinking it will end with Korra "sacrificing" herself while in the Avatar State to save the city/someone important from a spirit blast, and she'll somehow manage to bend the spiritual energy to return it toward the mechatank.

It doesn't somehow breach any of the internal rules of Avatar, and it doesn't look any less stupid than all the other mechs we've seen.

Plus, let us not forget when four 13-15 year old kids took over the seat of the Earth Kingdom and took out all the personal guards of the earth king in one massive strike. Or when 5 old men took on an entire army of super powered fire benders in tanks and no one died. Its still a show on Nick where they won't say the word "killed" or "murdered".
