"Jumping the shark is an idiom created by Jon Hein that is used to describe the moment in the evolution of a television show when it begins a decline in quality that is beyond recovery. The phrase is also used to refer to a particular scene, episode or aspect of a show in which the writers use some type of "gimmick" in a desperate attempt to keep viewers' interest. In its initial usage, it referred to the point in a television program's history when the program had outlived its freshness and viewers had begun to feel that the show's writers were out of new ideas, often after great effort was made to revive interest in the show by the writers, producers, or network.[1][2][3] The phrase jump the shark comes from a scene in the fifth season premiere episode of the American TV series Happy Days titled "Hollywood: Part 3," written by Fred Fox, Jr.[4], and aired on September 20, 1977. In the episode, the central characters visit Los Angeles, where a water-skiing Fonzie (Henry Winkler), wearing swim trunks and his trademark leather jacket, jumps over a confined shark, answering a challenge to demonstrate his bravery."

South Park is more about social commentary and current events. It will always be relevant. Family guy was about 80's - 90's nostalgia. That dried up after 4 seasons. The Simpsons jumped the shark for me when they started pandering to liberals. lol pandering how relevant, considering the last episode +1

For the Simpsons its 5-9 or maybe 10. "Mephesto: And over here, swiss cheese spliced with chalk, and a beard."

The episode just seemed out of place for South Park. Repetitive and overall bland.

If all the marklaars were like marklaar. Then marklaar would not be very marklaar. The marklaars should be more like Jun Jun. I'm sure the French would agree.

The whole cat with bread around their necks didn't appeal to me. But oh well, whatever floats your boat :D How do you mean it "didn't appeal" to you? First thing I did was go to google and search for cat breading... and surprise surprise, it's a "real" thing, that's actually been going on for a short while. It's the sort of ridiculous thing you wouldn't possibly think could actually exist, which is probably why they included it and made such a thing of it.

Aside from the fact that it's kind of a fucked up thing in itself, I think it makes this episode even better.
