Edit: The episode was one of the worst I've ever seen, didn't even laugh ONCE. Did you try just visiting the official site after the episode aired? http://www.southparkstudios.com/full-episodes/s16e03-faith-hilling You can't view that site if you don't live in the USA. Try eztv.it it always has the episodes pretty quickly. Yes you can, maybe the problem is in you. Yes obviously the problem is "in" me... ![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/W71wV.png) If only they left a message to go to southpark.nl Where they're always 2 weeks behind, and it's in 240p quality or something. Torrents have the episodes the day after in full quality.
Ok, I can understand this. Either your way or proxies.

"Saying something is 2000 and anything is so 2009" ROFL. Other highlights include butters falling asleep with a gun in his mouth, but besides that I dont think it was too spectacular. 7/10

I was crying with laughter at the insanity and inanity of this episode, especially the whole idea of using actual sound clips of the republican debates in combination with 'oh long johhnnnson'. LOL. What a quality episode, completely out of left field. I love the trains coming out of nowhere. All in all a top quality episode...damn Matt and Trey still got it...8.5/10

opposite reaction from most other people, much preferred the previous ep. This one just felt rather senseless.

This show feels more and more like Family Guy after every episode.
I know I sound like a hipster but man, season 1 to 5, those were the days.

The guy in the car 'go back to the 90's, faggoots'. I prefer these kind of episodes. And the Cat-Republican debate.

Those seasons were so good, really. ^^ Nowadays I just don't get the same feeling from the jokes, they overplayed the thing with the cat, it was so not funny.

The best parts of any cartoon come in the first 3 seasons. South Park, Family Guy, Simpsons, all the same for the most part. The one that stayed the freshest to me is south park though, in the later seasons it became WAY more hit or miss but at least some of the episodes are still completely golden (And SP has a moral at the end of almost every episode, which is great). Early family guy is also freakin hysterical.

Beer Baron best Simpsons episode ever. The Simpsons from Season 1 through Season 10 was absolutely glorious

Early family guy is also freakin hysterical. I disagree about South Park. Being a devoted fan from season 1 I think the best seasons happened around the middle. Season 4-10. South Park is more about social commentary and current events. It will always be relevant. Family guy was about 80's - 90's nostalgia. That dried up after 4 seasons. The Simpsons jumped the shark for me when they started pandering to liberals.

I think pretty much all south park was crap until scott tenorman must die. and that's like season 5. There was like no point in those episodes.

Meh, I didn't find this episode that funny imo. The only good parts for me was butters and the gun, the random trains and the republican debate. The whole cat with bread around their necks didn't appeal to me. But oh well, whatever floats your boat :D

Agree with the sentiment that the show in its youth was a lot better. Even seasons after its youth were perfect, but I feel like it has lost a bit of its luster. It isn't to say that isn't good any more, which isn't the case - I respect south park's extremes and commentaries of things happening today.. But it can't make me laugh like it used to. Things seem a bit more forced, esp. the personalities of the characters. Don't know if it's just me or what, but it's somewhat of a turn off.
Still a wonderful show, have been watching it literally all my life, since the first movie that made it happen. I'd be lying if I said it didn't have an impact on my sense of humor. Just strange to see where it's heading.

I don't remember exactly how the conversation went, but the scene between Kyle and Cartman when they are accepting the new memes seemed to be Parker and Stone reflecting on the direction of the show, addressing the "this show was funnier when it was older" complaints. Also it seems like Kyle + Cartman has replaced Kyle + Stan as the show's representation of Parker and Stone themselves. Anyone else notice that?
For me personally this episode was hilarious. But then again I don't think there have been THAT many bad ones at all in the last few years. I watched the show when it first came out too, and it is only natural for a show to develop and evolve. I like the direction SP is going. Compare it to something like The Simpsons, I was the BIGGEST Simpsons fan since before I can remember. The Simpsons lost me well before season 16 (where SP is currently) due to relying on stupid, inane humor. SP on the other hand, even though it is different than it used to be, the humor still makes me laugh and at the same time manages to speak to me about current events or issues or whatever (most of the time).

Seen every ep, most favourite are 1-5. This episode was more similar to older school south park than 90% of the stuff they make nowadays. I am not a huge fan of the modern style but at least they had some 'absurdity'. Absurdity was and always has been the cornerstone of South Park. Not satire. And this show was lots of absurdity. Just look back at all the classic episodes, volcano, anal probe, mexican staring frog, chickenlover, starvin marvin in space, jewbilee, fat camp, cow days, bla bla...they are all masterclasses in absurdity.
|
I liked the absurd south park stuff that was in there again, but no real story behind it IMO. I feel like they need a solid subject for the episodes to feel great, as well as not creating too many side tracks. Ep 2 was better, but less absurd south park stuff there, and no real punch (except maybe for the presenter to kill himself, but not my taste)

What I like about South Park, despite its fluctuating quality in the last three seasons or so, is that it's been around for so long and yet still hasn't managed to jump the shark. Actually for 16 seasons, I think that's completely unheard of in a cartoon. It's common knowledge The Simpsons jumped it in season 9 episode 2 (Armand Tanzarian anyone?), while Family Guy fell off somewhere around Seasons 4 to 6, depending on who you ask. But not SP...
Sure, there have been better seasons and episodes of South Park in the past. After 16 seasons, that's going to be an unavoidable fact. But the fact that Trey and Matt are still sticking to it and producing episodes that garner laughs even now... I find that pretty damn admirable. I've seen every single episode of SP, and I still find the stuff they do now at least on par with what it was, if not a bit funnier due to more modern references and better animation.
