at least it isn't lower bracket bo1. I think I actually prefer the first round of the upper bracket being a bo1 with the format they've done here compared to having it in the lower bracket.
Yea I prefer it this way as well. There just would be several interesting matchups which would be nice to see the full bo3 of, but can't have it all I guess

i prefer b03's all the way except for one round robin group stages then i would prefer it to be b01(same as ti4 and 1st dac group stages)
Are they playing on stage now or is it just the top 6 phase. If it's the latter, then I hope fnatic finishes 2nd or 3rd in groups so I can see the crowd booing
Facebook really? Been watching ppd stream but kept looking for esl for 10min.. I know I only come here for my dota info but damn they should have at least had a message on the ESL stream instead of a Replay

why would they boo Fnatic? because of westerners playing in SEA?

Reddit.com/r/dotavods is usually pretty good, that's where I go when I need to catch something I missed live.

Lol, I don't expect Twitch will let that channel live for very long.
I was fooled if it's not official :D
If it is facebook is going to be pretty pissed since they paid ESL a bunch of dosh for exclusive rights. There's no way ESL would do that. It's pretty funny tho, reminds me a bit of the UFC stream with the guy pretending he's playing with a controller.
PPD's stream, though he's skipping around a bit. Just switched to the Liquid game and he said he's logging after the EG game (the next game after TL I think)
My reactions: 1. where is the stream? 2. oh, yeah, facebook; I remember... 3. not gonna happen 4. hey, I have to work soon and so forced to use trackdota anyway; first time that this is not sad!
Also: Seems (trackdota) Matu is destroying Penta! Nice!
This entire thing is so silly? Like how are people supposed to realize that the streams are somewhere else (as opposed to just assuming they're down or something.)
i cant see this facebook thing doing well. took me a while to find the stream & you cant watch on mobile. the stream itself worked better than i thought though

Honestly i think it's utter crap compared to twitch, i'd like the watch the official stream, but like that i rather do something else.
EG gets weaker everytime they lose a teamfight/game/series. you just can see the downward spiral. its been like this for a while now. its funny how they still dont get it

Wohoo! Also I don't get what the fuss about the stream is. You can get the official streams here: live.esl-one.com You don't need a FB account or whatever... And at least for me they work pretty well.

plenty of high profile matches today that you don't see on other tournaments but the viewer count is abysmal
this move to change the streaming platform to facebook is indeed not good
The thing im most annoyed about is i can't get VODs, i had to find a random streamer who was streaming it and when into his past broadcast to find his EG vod which was bad quality and awful camera work xD
Facebook VODs i cannot find, i found "highlights" but it just huge spoilers and 30 second clip saying NAVI 1-0 EG xD

Thanks ESL TT
yep definitely the previous broadcast missing kinda kills it .. not everybody can watch all games live so you rely on vods
it's not that facebook is unwatchable but rather just incovenient
I'm sure ESL is getting enough money from Facebook that they don't really care for this event. Only issue for them is the other sponsors. Maybe they'll ask big names not to restream the finals

Yeah this, if i could go onto facebook and get my vods i wouldn't have cared, but now i do :D

To be fair, this forum is more dead than the game itself.
quite sad for me as someone use to refer to this site for anything broodwar This site literally follows all e-sport that I interested in Broodwar > SC2 > Dota 2 well I have some interest in fighting game as well, but the scene is not as big as those games anyway
I just hope someone keeps restreaming the games on twitch, the experiences with this new platform has not been pleasant so far. And yea if there are no easy to access (or any at all???) VODs that's a massive bummer. Other than the games themselves have been entertaining.
btw I think this is the platform for ESL Katowice too? and for their ESL's CS content as well.
I just hope they either improve the player significantly and rapidly, or revert the deal on the exclusivity because at least my viewing experience was remarkably impaired by the shortcomings of the stream player.

as long as facebook pays ESL enough they will keep using their shitty platform even if they lose all their sponsors buy facebook
Zuckerberg probably paid ESL a couple of millions for this exclusive deal so ESL was like "fuck the community and the audience, we're gonna go where the $$ is"

I'm not quite that pessimistic, both companies will closely monitor the viewing numbers and I'm pretty confident that the fact that ppd and bulldog were streaming to ~15k viewers both while the official streams were around 1k earlier and for the last games maybe at 5k speak about the shortcomings of the streams atm. You probably are right about the fact that enough $$ was moved that the exclusivity stays for the duration of the contract but we'll see what happens even during this event. I mean if not for anything else it's an issue for ESL who probably have sold the sponsorships promising viewer numbers that are significantly higher just based on previous events.

The stream was still unstable and viewing it in fullscreen was the only option to not have all sorts of distracting banners everywhere, and the streams were by default muted and the control bar would even be accessible because a part of the stream was under an advert banner unless I toggled on the left sidebar.. Really made me miss twitch and its theatre mode and pop-out video.
Hmm. This is a unique format, though one issue I have is how teams can get eliminated in a day. It's quite unforgiving for weak teams, but I guess you cant expect help when you're competing at the highest stages.
My ideal format is always round robin group stages. You see a wide variety of matchups including grudge ones. TI group stages always make me feel hyped. Hope some majors allocate resources to accommodate this in the future.
