Well crazy happened but in retrospect I think we should always give MVP Pheonix The Perennial Dark Horse status. The really are that DBZ character who gets a big enough power boost to do something cool enough to form a fan base but never good enough to win it all like Goku.
For the past 3 years they've consistently punched up their weight in a major tournament.

Of course they aren't a clear-cut favorite but you have to mention them when talking about the top spots. Especially because they went 2-0 against both teams.

I think one thing why korea is strong in HoTS is because blizzard. They love the blizzard games and whatever they endorsed as esports they always created a competitive scene.

maybe, but the teams they won against are
a) not at the absolute top (secret)
and
b) playing like complete garbage (ehome)
they could also put up a col-esque performance, which would still be impressive though.
