It happened with sc2, and there's definitely a lot of talent out there, and along with a bunch of online tournys you can make a name for yourself. This is also why I think ladder is important. It shows exactly who is who, and even though it doesn't exactly show who is best in a competitive environment it lets you pick and choose between the best. china accounted for pretty much half of the 500k viewers they got. once dota 2 is fully released in china their dominance will be cemented the same way korea did in starcraft. its just inevitable.

Beating Na'Vi in three straight matches is unbelievable coming from LB. Except they didn't win three straight games against Na'Vi, they won G1,3,4. Needless to say if Na'Vi had gone in 1-0 up due to a WB advantage Na'Vi could have won 2 games in a row and won it, or they could have actually lost 3 games in a row. You can't say 'They would've won either way', load of garbage. Congrats iG, played solid and you were midly more entertaining than the other chinese teams, hope the next international is in China and Na'Vi take it with more entertaining games.

Thoughts: First of all, I'm really happy that IG won 3-1 so that there's no controversy as they'd have won even if Na'Vi had a 1 game advantage. I still think that the format is terrible, though. I thought that XBOCT did pretty well in the first 2 games although with a few mistakes, but the third game was just atrocious. Na'Vi had a real chance if they had 2 carries, in the end I'm pretty sure XBOCT was outfarmed by the opponent's KOTL hard support. Along with his suicide in the earlygame it was just atrocious. Dendi didn't really do anything in the 2 games they lost though he did okay in the game they won. Nyx Assassin was a useless pick who only fed the whole game. At 55 minutes he had boots 1, 2 bracers, and 2 500g items towards blademail - Are you kidding me? I didn't like Na'Vi's strategies. Even in the match they won I don't think their picks were Na'Vi. They essentially played a double carry strategy every game against a chinese team. IG was the far more entertaining team in these finals. Ferrari's TA also was really nice and I also don't understand why Na'Vi didn't start banning her. Overall I'm really happy that the clearly better team won, after all that's the most important thing in a tournament like this. I'm also happy that the terrible format didn't really end up causing unnecessary drama because IG won 3-1 so they'd have won 3-2 even with the advantage. Na'Vi dug their own grave though, they seriously are not a team that can play a double carry strategy against a chinese team, even if they fluked out a win(That had nothing to do with doublecarry and instead was just a snowball start) On September 03 2012 22:32 Purdy8 wrote: Except they didn't win three straight games against Na'Vi, they won G1,3,4. With the scores at the end IG would actually have won 3-2 if Na'Vi had a single game advantage.

It most likely wouldn't have, IG could have won 3-0 and it would have been 3-1 with a 1 game advantage, or Na'Vi could have won 2-0, or all the other various outcomes, you can't just assume it would have played out exactly the same due to mental advantage/thought process going in to games whether to take a risk or not.

It's the best we can do, though. But please complain to Valve enough for them to change their format, I'd love that.
