Matu is benched by Liquid and I assume leaving once the contract is over. Feels sad to see one of the longest lasting Dota teams lose a member. With Epicenter and TI coming up real soon, I wonder who they will pick up.

yeah just saw it as well and was about to post. Pretty shocked tbh. It just doesn't feel like a "liquid" thing... that being said if the players themselves thought they need the change you can't just tell them that they're not allowed to make a change.
So I assume this is really them making that decision themselves because they're not happy with their results...

Sad day for us Liquidfans

Losing Matu is extremely sad but it makes sense.

He's a very good player but his ability to do what he's best at is very patch dependent. I think he's played very well this season but that's mainly when Ursa was good which he no longer is which means Matu kinda doesn't do his job.

WTH! Shocked it's so late - close to TI like last year EG/OG thing.
Well they couldn't win TI9 playing same playstyle relying on Miracle- as win condition every damn game, with Matu playing 'sacrificial' carry or some niche mid.

I suppose they understood 2nd at Paris Disney major only masked their problems & they realised they hit the wall at Epi EU qualifier group stage? <where even NInoff wrote a shoutout in OG thread being proffesional>

But sheesh when probable top 6 at TI is not good enough & have to take more high risk to improve? whew

edit: I still think Matu could play the real carry - best of luck to all the players!

Matu wasn't that good of a "real carry" during the time Miracle was on OG though. He only ever won me over as a sacrificial carry player.

ok he can't play Sven the Rogue Knight, but I'm sure he can still be a win-condition hero, how else would TL be one of the favourites going into TI6 with Fata- mid?

Edit: Rant: People (esp. reddit) complain about wanting a DPC total rulebook of very rule, but this is another reason why it's so hard to make all the rules upfront.

The previous discretionary way was better & I would make TL not direct-qualified for TI.

I just realized, I never watched TI7's True Sight because I dunno I thought it'd be overwhelming. Now I can't even watch it without knowing that Heen and Matu are gone now. Maybe mistakes were made...

Fuck.

No matter what was and what will be - this is an end of an era.

Thank you MATU, all the best in whatever you chose to do now. This iteration of Liquid will always have very special place in my heart.

I am very curious how will the new roster fare.

Lets go Liquid!

Goddamnit.

I can't say this was entirely unexpected, but I still hate that it happened. I so, so wanted this to be the roster to win 2 TI's.

All the best to Matu. I hope he finds a home where he can truly shine like the fantastic carry player I know he is. And I hope whomever Liquid has found to replace him can synergize well with the team. Having made a change like this to such a storied and successful roster, good results are not optional.

This is so heartbreaking!!

You make him play the shitty sacrificial role, then you sack him? You should try enabling him for once instead of always relying on Miracle to carry you and get a comeback. Enabling Matu will lessen the burden for Miracle, at the same time, give Matu inspiration to keep playing.

If you need to make a roster change, it should be Kuro. He should focus on coaching and analysis. He is not a good pos 5. He hardly wards, he plays passive, and he feeds a lot. TL need a true pos 5.

so apparently Liquid has been scrimming with w33ha, would make a lot of sense to me for Liquid to get a traditional mid like him (plus his hero pool is pretty big)

So a screenshot from Khezu's stream kinda confirms that w33 is scrimming with Liquid. It's a nice choice. Maybe they can do better after the TI shuffle or maybe they found the best person for the role. Liquid with a player that can actually play mid well while Miracle carries sounds pretty scary.

I don't know how this went down, but I hope they didn't ditch Matu without any warning just a couple of months before TI
Why are my allies so weak and pathetic?

Whoever Kuro chooses he has to be able to Play 1/2 as depending of the strats. Miracle is sometimes mid sometimes safe, i like qojqva for Matu replacement of the known players.
