Seconded. I think that they are doing very well, unlike other TI winners TL is still up there, even after long break and almost half a year after TI. I was only surprised by not banning naga in game 5, but oh well, not like it were major finals

It happened way too many times - cocky drafts, that NEEDS our boys to outplay hard their opponents, or they get crushed - like that invoker game for example. And after all we are playing agaist world class players, you can't expect to outplay them that hard every time.
Or The random drafts are just Liquid's way too keep the thirst rolling and having fun during tourneys, as the only thing they really want is TI8? I agree with you that the drafts are questionable but I don't think they're "cocky". Their drafts have fallen off ever since they won TI and didn't have to play qualifier games which meant they played less and that lead to them having a worse understanding of the meta than other teams. Everything they accomplished this season so far felt like they were outplaying most of their opponents to make up for mediocre drafts. This felt like their best showing to me so far, they looked like a team that was mostly caught up to the meta, but Newbee just happened to be a step ahead of them. It still doesn't feel like they're strong enough to break the meta like they did at TI7 but maybe that'll come back in time. Not so sure about that. Especially the invo game (which they almost always pair with a Venge for matu) should have been a win as far as I see it. Big Miracle choke/blunder whatever you want to call it - close to rosh where he basically has about 2 seconds to invoke something - but did nothing - could have tornadoed/ghostwalked/icewall. but just died. free rosh for newbee and high ground straight after... And then again the tinker game - should have been a win in theory i feel. then suddenly tinker dies twice and the game is over... didn't see the whole end of that game, but felt very strange. it felt like 2 games matu choked and didn't perform (especially that razor game, which they still won) and 2 games miracle choked in a few situations. you can't play perfectly every game i guess, and Newbee is top tier. but still... seeing so many mistakes, was a bit of a bummer. The point of the draft is to not force one or more of your players to play out of their minds. But to have an easy game, and win even if someone makes a mistake. However i agree that Miracle didn't have a day that day and thats OK.
My bugger concern is that this is his third if i am not mistaken game in a row on Tinker that he plays mediocore at best, focuses way too much on pushing the lanes, instead of bursting someone with his team after BoT, Aghs, Blink, Dagger. In all of the fights he showed up way too late and gave Newbee a chance to sleep and reset the fight. Imagine if he BoT2 on an ally and just drop a burst on the stunned target, - target dies, his team is not forced to commit that hard, fight is won, even if newbee manage to use Song Of The Siren they can still disengage if needed. Instead all 4 commit hard target barely dies all abilities on cooldown, then Tinker shows with the remaining 4 enemies on full hp and his team on the run. all fights way too late.
Maybe they should practice his tinker more as it is essential versus some drafts.

I do not envy Matu's position in the team, he gets sacked hard and need to create so much space, I think him and GH are my standout player for this tournament.

OG has played Naga combos (Engima, Disruptor) for ages- without much success lately. It's not like this is unbeatable. Second place with a 2v3 score is certainly nothing to scoff at- they're just not as unbeatable as they seemed after TI.

Everyone who critizises them, should not forget, they had a pretty long break. First tournament After 6 weeks or so, i think they did very well;)

Exactly I was actually surprised that they did that well, they could just have won the whole thing if a single team fight went differently. Sure I can say a complaint about every player's performance in this tournament but that does not really make sense after the pleasant final results.

On the other hand, you can see how high the fans expectations are right now. dissapointed after a second place finish? Thats insane, if you think about it. I still remember the shitty na team, who were happy about Top 8 at TI. And now we have one of the best teams to ever play the game, kuro and the boys sure did a lot;)

Kuroky first 1000 competetive wins!
Edit: also, title defended.

Yes! Also Matumbaman Gyro and MC Beastmaster, it felt like the kind of high tempo drafts they used when they first started playing under the Liquid banner. Nice to see they can still whip it out when the other team goes all-in on the early game.

They just dont stop being dominant. Amazing games from the boys against LGD, grats on another title! Best team of all time? We are getting there, thats for sure

yeah this team is actually insanely consistent and good. so much raw talent and more importantly discipline.
which team has been this dominant consistently up to TI, during TI, and so long after TI? We'll see how people can crack them but as of now Liquid is by far the king bar none

iG during TI2? iG was dominant till March 2013 then everything fell apart after going last in a tournament with Alliance on top. But of course it doesn't seem like Liquid will meet the same fate.

Most improved player for sure. The guy plays any lane against anybody and delivers. One of Liquid's strengths is that they can first pick Razor, DK, QoP, Tiny etc. and just put MC on it without any fear it will be countered, because they will last pick Miracle's hero anyway.
About dominance I think Secret (Kuro, Puppey, Zai, Arteezy, S4) was the last team that was so dominant and talented.

You mean with their limited strategy that got figured out at the worst possible moment and players falling out spectacularly? There's no comparison here really
