If they dont make the finals it will be a stunning upset. DK wasnt looking unbeatable heading into TI4, they had already come down to earth. Secret is on a string of dominant lan wins. It would have been more like [A] not making it to the finals during TI3.

I don't think they're taking it all. Things happen on the biggest stages. They're certainly arguable as the strongest team going in but being the favorite is only worth so much.

I could see them not taking it all but at the same time, I feel like they're the most likely team to take it all. The thing is, I believe their chances are still less than 50% so I kind of agree in that it's more likely that they don't win than they do. I don't believe any team has a 50% chance or better to win the whole thing.

At ti4 both puppey and s4 got caught by a new meta. Puppey understood it and drafted it but navi couldnt play th heroes well at all. So they completely forced it on themselves. However half the games puppey simply drafted terribly and they lost due part to it.

Same with s4 at ti4. Tried forcing new meta on team and drafting badly. Was a very stark contrast to ti3 were my fav part of navi and alliance games was the draft - they simply drafted beautifully like puppey picking tide who had seen 0 play to use ravage to constantly gank enemy weaver.

So secret choking draft wise at ti5 is very possible tbh.

Secret has been dominant enough in their last few LANs that it's hard to imagine them lose to a lot of teams, even teams near the top. But that said, there is well over a month between ESL and TI main event. Some other teams may have closed the gap to Secret a bit during that time.

In the end TI is just one tournament. It is even possible that Secret won't get to the final, and they will have only lost to EG in the entire tournament. Even if a team is overall better than the others (which was the case for Secret at least a month ago), they can still end up losing a bo3 every once in a while.

Also it's an interesting situation for Secret mentality wise. Due to their recent dominance, all their players probably go into the event thinking that everything except a win is a disappointment. Will be interesting to see how they react if they start to lose games in the playoffs.

I can't wait for Secret to win TI5, so that we don't have to deal with all these anti-fans

I'm sure the haters would say Secret needs to win TI twice in a row to prove they are a good team.

As for me, I want them to win so badly, but I'm also worried something will go wrong or that they will get figured out and lose

I understand that Secret is in a very good condition now, but I don't get why people want them to win so badly. They're favourite and it's always more fun when non-fav team prevails.

I don't really agree. Although I'm not really a fan (not a hater either) I think Secret dominating the entire TI would be very interesting. Puppey and s4 would be the first two time TI winners, in s4's case even achieving sort of similar domination with two different teams.

Though that said a lot of the things that can happen are intriguing. EG beating Secret when it matters the most again (like in DAC), Chinese team managing to make it to the end despite their struggles in this patch compared to Secret and EG, some other western team rising to the occasion..

They are an all-star team that actually showed real dominance more than any other(namely DK.. well DK still showed dominance but near TI they didn't look so hot against IG/eg/newbee). There players aren't just actually hype(unlike teams like TeamTinker where cause people love the streams and stuff they think they are like top of the scene for their respective positions lol) since there's a noticable gap between their players and the other teams.

Like for example navi/c9/VP/empire/lgd/ehome making it to top 3 would be really really cool and that would hyped as fuck. However for secret if they get top 3 which should honestly be a realistic result for their team but that would still be a heavy disappointment. Top 2 will still be a disappointment. Nothing than a TI victory would make a team like secret be immortalized.

Even though TI is just 1 tournament and everyteam could like be shit or be owning on one tournament and could be in opposite state on the next tournament. TI is still TI it's the tournament that matters. Like for example even if Secret only didn't win TI5 like they still got top 3 or something but won every single goddamn tournament after TI5 that still won't be enough to fulfill the hype of the roster and people will still be disappointed cause "they failed on the single tournament that matters". At least DK last year wasn't crushing everybody like secret streak now hell they even lost a lot of finals so if you followed DK before TI4 you'd know they aren't the obvious favorites with teams like IG(IG went 4-1 against DK on the last tournament before TI4), eg (you know the first summit EG where EG won 3-2) and even newbee(i'm sure they went head to head against DK alot of tournaments) being around .

Also if you want non-fav team to prevail that happened last year namely newbee(they are still considered top 4 before TI4 but people didn't put them above EG/DK/IG) and especially VG. I'm not really sure if you think that's more fun cause people are obviously really not happy last year.

Secret is ONE of the teams I'm rooting for at TI5, just being realistic.

Because they win in style, you can see them shifting and adapting to every game in a difficult series and popularizing many new strategies, due to their mechanics and experience. I mean they singlehandedly brought Techies to the spotlight in the last month, no other team can do that. Sure you have the odd hero teams draft for a player even when it's not usual, like Timber for icex3, but this is on another level.

because a lot of their players are fan favorites and fans want their team to win. not everybody wants the non fan favorites to win (ie, last year).

I want them to win because they are at the top of the game, but not just relying on the same strategies to win. They aren't just playing a "solid / consistent style" - they are actually driving the metagame forward. It makes it extremely difficult for other teams to crack the puzzle, because you don't know what to expect. At this point they have shown many times that they can be true innovators, and if we don't see some extremely sweet pocket drafts from them at TI5, I'll be disappointed.

Idk if they would willingly reveal picks like techies i doubt they are hiding picks. I'm sure we are gonna see just gonna see metagame heroes like tusk/BS/lesh/bounty hunter and their classic secret first pick SF qop if it's available
