Rough times. Just imagine what an hell of a team could be: 1. Limmp 2. Bulldog 3. s4 4. Zai/EGM 5. Pieliedie Honestly think they would have the same problems as previous s4 lineup. Lacklustre drafting into aimless in game plans. I am not sure who would captain that in game. Also tink Limmp is a much better mid than bulldog. Don't think Bulldog could come back without a solid 2 months of practice on a role. Game 2 Loda had a few team fights without getting off ulti. Even if you don't hit perfectly it is great for zoning. More the ES playing great than Loda playing badly though.
i meant 1. Bulldog and 2. Limmp, sorry for typo. s4 is one of the best captain in the scene... his drafts are good, it's just the team that wasn't strong enough, and he's showing in OG (as he showed in Secret before imploding).
Alliance with s4 captain: Alliance TOP10 team in the world Alliance without s4 captain: Tier 3 team

Ugh, they get so outdrafted against better opponents. I should coach them; I know how to draft.
|
it was outplayed, not outdrafted, they even outdrafted their opponent in game1, they just don't have that level to outplay them.
|
This is tnc, and you think it's warranted to speak about outplay and draft. Alliance has only t1 players historically, maybe not Jonas, and tnc is their biggest hurdle.

i guess they have new hurdle now, Infamous.

They changed the play style from game 1 and won the series pretty well after that. Sad they couldn't find the way against TNC. Still a lot of money and a single series loss against TNC which is a team that will with 90% probability go to next Valve event. (Number taken from nowhere, they are high on Gosugamers ranking and playing well in general though.)

I don't know about that. Might be wrong, and you may quote me on that later on. But I don't think tnc will go far. Based on how they play.

They had the patch figured out better than C9 and Alliance. So did Infamous but the level of play was too low there it feels like. I think you might be right that TNC won't go deep at a Valve event but I honestly think they are a shoe-in on getting there considering they are part of the SEA region and there aren't all that many other strong competitors, Faceless will probably beat them while Fnatic might not even have a team in time.

I think it only hurts Alliance trying to find excuses to these performances... man this is a terrible result, if they can't even reach finals in "tournaments" like this, they have literally 0 chances to qualify for next Major or TI7... i'm really triggered by this showing, they even bootcamped before the event, i'm sorry to say, but this team has no future if they don't change anything.
|
this is a tournament without a single tier-2 team. most of the "teams" are either not professional or put together temporary. they are not even tier-3 teams. the only one decent opponent is TNC(without jimmy), we lost so badly. this is a big failure for Alliance when you can't reach final of such a "tournament". Still full respect to Limmp though, he needs to do s4+bulldog's job to keep this team alive.

TNC JD-ranking worldwide: 25, C9/old Imperial ranking: 11, Infamous: 29. Not even tier 2? The best teams are very even these days, none of the teams in the final four are temporary teams, hence does'nt really matter in the comparison. Also, while I like Jimmy (mostly EG.Demon, the throw king) it does not seem like he was the only player in TNC.
Was this a fantastic showing, no, they (Alliance) seem to be making a lot of poor decisions at times. The drafts are generally weak or hard to pull off. I feel that deathball is way too strong in this patch, grouping up should punish xp harder than it is.
Well, my opinion. Also, hi forum.

Hey guys;) I havent really watched alliance games lately (or any dota at all), but did limmp really get that much better? I remember him as a decent but unstable mid player.

It is just that he seems pretty great by comparison with the others

Welcome, note that being 14 (which is C9 ranking) is part of their high activity lately , AdFienm are ranked behind them which as you can deduce is not real , they have inflated ranking due to activity , let me name few teams below them which are 100% better : * AdFinem. * Vici Gaming. * LGD Forever.
and the list goes on and on, this tourney was a low level from team quality , there is no way around it and they botched it , they didnt lose a nail biter to a gimmick strat , they lost straight up 2-0 to TNC while getting outplayed. I agree with Zeal , Johanss and Handsken are not good enough , I was hoping they will get it together but they didnt , as for now i am hoping AB will be back , at least he brings some edge to the team and carry quality , Johanss with Farm has no impact and Johanns without farm is a BIG liability (feeding non stop) , so many games he has the most death on the team which is crazy.

Something I cant understand is why people are cheering for teams, not for players. I mean lets be honest..
alliance was defined by 5 people and a established brand.. its s4, loda, akke, egm and bulldog. Their playstyle was always a bit different, with those tempo controlling mids and the greedy offlane plays. They were rly nice to watch and their team spirit was awesome.
I dont know how I would feel as an alliance fan... but the good players are gone, their playstyle is far away from what alliance has defined in dota and its awful to watch how they perform these days. Thats not alliance for me, its just a teamname used by loda for his current team.

I mean, i come from a very deep rooted football infancy, so i learned to cheer for a team, in spite of the players being bad, i would cheer for my team, if they were good than it's even better, but through everything i would be a fan of the team, so it might be this influence, at least for me.

I mostly like good Dota and watch a lot of tournaments where my favourite teams aren't playing in. That being said I am a bit nationalistic in picking favourites. Thus Alliance is basically the only team one can follow, all other ones keep going inactive. Currently there is Horde and I.K.E.A. as the major alternatives while I have a history watching Alliance since they were playing with Envy, making them an entrenched interest. Loda since the SK Gaming days, not a super big interest but still the player I follow the most over the decades (soon at least).
Navi is an interesting alternative since I also like Pajkatt but never connected with Dendi even though he is likeable in interviews and so on.
