7332 Armor and All resi ranges from 890 to 1050. But isn't that all in EHP? I thought it does not matter how much vita/resi/armor I have as long it is a big EHP.

I still get killed when I try to kill normal mobs in act 3. Free improvements:
- Use your enchantress! She gives you very good buffs.
- Try swapping to 'Nerves of Steel' instead of 'Tough as Nails' passive - it will probably give you more armour. Alternatively, try 'Superstition', and see if you prefer that.
- Practice. It's not a build that people tend to be able to pick up straight away. Remember that SPRINT is your primary attack - everything else is less important. Never stop sprinting (even when whirlwinding). It's also absolutely crucial that you keep your battle rage buff active at all times
Gear improvements:
- You don't have enough LOH - you want several hundred more. Fortunately, with the ww/sprint build the offhand DPS really doesn't matter much at all. This means you should be able to get a very cheap weapon with ~900 LOH,a gem slot, and good stats. You may wish to place LOH gem(s) in your weapons also.
- Your crit chance is far too low. This is a devastating mistake. You want to have ~45% as an absolute minimum, and the more crit the better. A cheap blue necklace, with 8.5% crit and vitality, would improve your character significantly. You may also wish to try a shield. These can ALSO come with huge crit chance, and make you a lot less squishy too.
- You should shift your focus away from stats like critical hit damage, or gold + magic find, until you actually have sufficient gear to actually stay alive properly!

I thought it does not matter how much vita/resi/armor I have as long it is a big EHP. no, it does make a difference, a huge difference! you can get to 500k ehp with 40k hp and high res/armor or with 50k hp and less res/armor. the former will mean that each point of LoH regenerates more effective hp than in the latter case. therefore, your survivability will be higher in the former case, even though the effective hps are the same.
basically, your survivability is determined by the time it takes you to die. and this is determined by
hp/ ( damage you receive per second, after damage reduction - life you regenerate per second)
this can also be rewritten by
hp/ [nominal damage per second * (armor DR factor) * (res DR factor) - life regen per second]
you can clearly see that this equation is linear in the raw hp number, but nonlinear in the armor and res damage reduction factor.

Thank you guys. Bought a diffrent off hand and put a gem in it for loh. I already survive a lot better than before.

Can you do WW on a 4m budget with a fresh 60 or is it a waste of money trying, even for Act II farming?

My advice would be to pick your weapons very, very, VERY carefully (you can grab a really good deal if you're patient), then just grab the rest of your gear with the remainder of your budget.

I'm happy to do that, I have a DH and the Barb isn't even 60 yet. So, especially in terms of weapons what should I been aiming at? having done the reading it seems like in terms of weapons I want a high DPS (1000+ dps) main hand with a high speed (dagger) socketed off hand with at least 800 LOH. Many of the resist figures I see mentioned seem very high, but it seems like I need to target survivability over DPS (aka AR/VIT over STR) is that correct?

You basically want enough survivability to survive, then more than that is kind of pointless! So then you focus on maintaining a level of survivability you're happy with, and increasing damage as much as possible. A dead barb does 0 DPS.

Here is the issue, I have no idea what just enough is. I am worried I'll spend all the cash, find it's not enough to work and then be back to square one.
Any idea of some figures to aim at - 500AR, 40k HP, 25% CC, 1k LOH etc?

the following is the bare minimum in my opinion:
550 AR buffed, physical should probably be somewhat higher 5.5k armor buffed 1.2k LoH 40k HP 40% crit chance, 35% if you use a mighty weapon. 12k dps for act2, 25k dps for act3. (else it just takes you too long to kill stuff, which increases the chance of dying.)
note that you need less and less LoH as your AR and armor increase.
|
I've been kicking at: ~45k health ~550 AR 6.5k armour buffed with enchantress 1091 LOH ~2.0 attack speed
And I feel uncomfortable if I try to use bash rather than leap. I really feel vulnerable without it, so I would probably want more survivability if I were to use an offensive skill. I've been using sprint builds for weeks and weeks and gradually reducing my survivability as time goes on to the minimum I think is necessary, to squeeze maximum DPS out of my gear.
EDIT: oh, and crit chance really makes things more comfortable. I would absolutely recommend trying to get closer to 50% than 40%.

Try going for Clobber instead of Instigation. If they're stunned they can't kite.

Try to get ~45k and you will have a much, MUCH easier time! That is absolutely your #1 gear issue atm.

i see
maybe i should replace my helm ruby with a helm amethyst
or just get a new one with some health instead of str
|
or i could replace all my rubies with amethysts i guess. if dps isn't all that important for whirlwind
