You drop a hydra and arcane orb until either you or the mobs are dead. The utility skill is generally something like teleport/familiar/mirror image.

I just did ur test against azmodan and got completely different results. 2hander, 198 dps/.9AS - 6.8seconds, 6.6seconds, 6.5seconds. 1hander 198.2dps/1.4AS - 5.8 seconds, 5.9seconds, 5.5seconds
given the 1hander has slightly better damage these look about equal. which means hydra only cares about DPS and doesnt even look at AS... like every other place i've read.

Ok Phael, following your advice i have this build:
Diamond Skin - Crystal Shell Familiar - Sparkflint Magic Weapon - Force Weapon Energy Armor - Force Armor Hydra - Venom Hydra Arcane Orb - Tap the Source
Glass Cannon Arcane Presence Temporal Flux

The stated DPS on weapons already factors in attack speed. Most spells are based off the base damage (the listed damage range on your weapon, NOT the DPS).

And im using Templar follower, i assume he's best.
Edit: oops, double post.

templar is the best because he will kind of tank for you--although they commonly ignore him and go around.
as you get higher into inferno and it becomes more difficult, you may want to consider dropping familiar and adding teleport-fracture. also, i have heard rumblings that familiar-sparkflint is actually better than magic weapon-force weapon, because its glitched. it shows higher dps, but it doesn't actually do higher damage.
this is also more of a solo build, if you are going with a group, you should consider alternates.

Ofc and this is known for months. Dunno what Phael did in his tests to prove his point ...

Does a weapon factor in intelligence when displaying dps on the AH? Can't seem to figure this one out. I'm using a 2H weapon with 1120 dps with +130 intel, can I treat this an ~1250dps weapon (assuming 1 dps = 1 intel if dps and intel are equal)? Or am I completely off base here?

Always use a DPS calculator/spreadsheet to see how much more dps you are getting. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/lv?key=0AuCuIwwOof50dGpVRXhOYTZHNUJ3R1dWTmdNdS1TeWc&toomany=true

Have to realize that although you gain the familiar dmg, it's only single target while magic weapon will apply to all your spells and give you greater aoe dmg.

Well I just spend 54m on items and I have 48k DPS with the weapon buff thing on...
Failed? I was expecting like 80k DPs.

99.999% sure they fixed this last patch (the display error on force weapon)

so, now i am wondering, is force weapon still the better choice? familiar w/ sparkflint is 3% less dmg, but you get the added benefit of the 20% attack on single target.

I dropped hydra and now i have both force weap + sparkflint. probably worse overall.. but i like seeing big numbers when my orbs crit. I tried dropping teleport but it's just too useful with fracture

What's a good/ideal cookie cutter ring look like? I have some pretty terrible int/IAS leftovers that aren't cutting it after the nerf. The ones with int/crit %/crit damage are in the millions even for really low rolls.

What do you mean by "venom bonus"? Is having something doing venom damage important?
