Hello!
If there's any of you DH's out there struggling in soloing Inferno elite mobs, I got just the build for you!
http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/demon-hunter#bRYdgh!TeX!acZbYY
It's basically a build which provides very high mobility, that will keep you safe from most one shots on Inferno difficulty, by stunning, slowing and kiting down the mobs. The only downside I see with it is the damage loss, but it's not really a big deal IMO. I'm in the middle of act 2 with my DH, all solo.

Steady Aim or Cull the Weak are probably better for that build than Sharpshooter.

Do the two-handed bows have any built-in benefit over the one-handed? - because as far as I see (in auction house) generally one-handed appear to do better damage and they have a higher fire rate which has so many more benefits than just pure DPS.
|
a higher fire rate doesn't have that many more benefits. it's main benefit is for things that proc that don't deal damage such as trying to chain stun with bola shot.
however a drawback for such a weapon would be the higher usage of hatred.
the built in benefit of two handed bows is that they usually deal more damage

two handed have slightly higher dps, but not too much. What you saw must be a fluke.

I think everyone should note that 1 hand weapons actually do LESS damage if you are kiting around/using skills cause the damage shown on the weapon includes the weapon speed multiplier, which means it's inflated for faster weapons.
|
I think a somewhat fast (1.5-1.6) 2h is probably the way to go. I used a 1.1sec bow for awhile and although the raw damage was great with Multishot, the low speed really sucked sometimes. Where you'll notice it most is when you fire, and then try to dodge something with Smokescreen or Vault. You'll often be delayed and get hit instead of dodging.
When I went with 2 quick 1-handers, my hatred skills were less effective but I was a lot more mobile, and I could use the +6 hatred generators to get the hatred back quickly. Overall though, the benefits of a quiver are too godlike, and you waste a lot of dps with too much speed, so I like the middle ground.

If anyone is interested this is what I've been using in Inferno with my partner who is a Barb. http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/demon-hunter#aRdVTX!YTe!ccbbZZ
I have 41k damage. And this build is a terror against everything. Great AOE, Great against Elites, and wrecks all the Act 1 Bosses. We are about to move onto Belial and I'll see how this goes.
PS: This build is also used by another DH with 95k Damage

has anyone been using grenades as a primary in hell+? I'm tempted to buy a shield+mace and try it out~

Yeah, I've been using nades in inferno MP. I use them mostly as a hatred spam. As with tinkerer, the hatred generation off a 1h crossbow is ridiculously fast. Then I just rapid fire until I need to use nades again ><. They do great damage in groups and honestly, that's what 99% of Diablo is. There are a lot of people who shit on grenades, and I can probably relate to that if they solo... but if you're in a group or even with 1 other person. 'Nades are pretty fucking good.
edit: period. >.>

back in nightmare, I toyed around with torturous caltrops, AoE Mark of Deah, Fire bombs and long fuse Spike Trap, and it was really good at clearing out mobs. But I would obviously run into problems when I couldn't quite kite the mobs... I honestly cannot stand regular grenades though as the main atk though, because of the spread @_@

Between hunger arrow with cinder and hunger arrow with devouring, which one is better as a primary attack? Which one is more consistent as an overall attack through the game.
I notice that devouring does more damage but cinder is more consistent as an overall attack. I'm just getting a second opinion and trying to get more knowledge about these two attacks.

The threatening mobs will always require a good number of hits to take down, so with a larger number of shots, devouring should almost always yield higher dps. I've been using it since I got it and reliability hasn't been a problem.
Unrelated question for ppl: What AoE skill do you guys prefer? So far I've been using multishot with fire at will. It's been working great for me, but wondering if there are other good options.

I really like elemental arrow with ball lighting for aoe. I had problems with multishot not being able to hit things that were close to me and I felt the range was a bit short. Ball lighting can hit stuff behind you and has a great range even if the slow projectile speed is quite annoying. The lower hatred cost also means I won't run out of hatred before a pack dies almost all the time.

Managed to go from Skeleton King to Belial on Inferno solo yesterday with this build in about 10 hours killing all but 2 champion packs on the way (fast invincible minions suck). http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/demon-hunter#aZXVQj!Xef!YZZYbY + Show Spoiler +Steady Aim for hand xbow, Archery for bow
Started with a ~700 dps hand xbow + quiver and about 15k dps but found a really nice rare bow halfway through A2 with ~900dps and ~100dex and some other stuff and ended with about 20,5k DPS. After finding the bow, I switched to atk speed gloves/rings (2.18 attacks/sec) to get a lot of hatred for multis and to be more agile. Speed is king, with a bow and no extra atk speed, you are just not agile enough to dodge stuff while still doing damage.
The key to the build is managing your hatred/discipline and spam smokescreen to keep you invincible. Almost everything in A2 will oneshot you (had about 25-30k life), so when you fail, you die. But if you like ressource managemnt, this build is for you.
