It just seems like they don't pack the punch that a 2h + quiver does, and the speed difference isn't much greater than that of a fast bow. What I notice while using 2x one handed crossbow and regular bow with quiver is that the bow and quiver gives me more damage. Even though when looking at the stats on the 2x one handed crossbow I would think that it would do way more damage, but when I equip them the damage goes down. Correct me if I'm wrong as I have been wondering about this for awhile.

I'm in Inferno Act 2 now and I've been using mostly 1h Xbow + Quiver since level 20.

Not really. If they have comparable DPS, your hatred spenders will more likely hit harder with the 2H weapon because the weapon damage should be higher but you will also gain hatred slower due to a lower atk speed.

Doesn't seem to be. There are individual advantages/disadvantages when it comes to whether skill speed scales with attack speed. Fast attack speed is better with Hatred generating moves because you'll generate more Hatred per second but it also makes Hatred costing moves less Hatred efficient. Dumping a full bar of Hatred isn't as damaging (Multishot Spam) with a faster weapon. I believe there are some moves that don't scale with attack speed, possibly Spike Trap, and their damage/efficiency is based entirely on a % of your DPS. Im talking about both being 2 handed Traditional bow- Passive gives flat 15% increase to damage (best weapon for passive unless running ~28%+ crit), fast attack speed for more hatred. Scales better with hatred dump ability modifiers (ex. Cluster arrow costs 5 lest hatred) Crossbow- Passive gives 50% crit damage which becomes very strong with high levels of crit. Slow, high damage, allows the first 2 shots of Sharpshooter to hit very very hard. Scales better with increased hatred regeneration (slower attack speed means less hatred generated but also more damage per hatred). Imo it is build preference. If you are stacking dexterity I would go with 2h bow, if you are stacking crit and crit damage, I would go with 2h crossbow. I run with 2h crossbow and focus on crit, crit damage, and hatred regeneration.

Hit the first big spike trap then lay a few calatrops+spike traps and kite all day. Spike trap + long fuse is huge damage per hatred. With a calatrops immobilize and 1-2 spike traps...that is just hilarious.

This is my build that I'm currently running. It has a bit of everything in it. http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/demon-hunter#WZYXVS!Yfe!ZZaZbc This build is mostly geared towards survivability and kiting but between well placed spike traps and impale my DPS isn't much lower than it would be with a different build the only real limiting factor as far as damage output goes is the lack of hungering arrow as a primary hatred builder.

Im talking about both being 2 handed Bows tend to have higher firing rates which makes them better for generating Hatred compared to 2 handed crossbows while maintaining on average higher damage output than a single 1 handed crossbow. Also, in general I prefer the bow to the crossbow for purposes of the Archery passive perk. The crossbow passive perk grants bonuses to critical strike damage to 2 handed crossbows and critical strike chances to 1 handed crossbows. The 15% damage buff to bows is just more consistent which is what I like.

It's pretty easy to get at least 2 to go off per cast, even against only 1 mob.

Nothing it can't handle, except the odd Extra Fast + Invulnerable Minions/Shielding on naturally fast mobs like Burrowing Leapers. My stats on inventory screen are 22k damage, 33k hp. Easy to start once hitting 60 and finishing Hell - stack Vitality on every single piece, it's the primary stat. AH the best bow you can get, even if you're spending everything you have. An 800+ DPS bow (preferably with Assailing/Vanquishing affix which grants attack speed %) I find is best. It's a very simple build, and I've gone through Act 1 taking no damage whatsoever (except on two packs of champions with Reflect - seriously).

I have been running this for near-unlimited get-away-from-me-scary-elite power. I use a 2h crossbow so I feel that the bat is necessary for maximum elemental arrow spam. Hatred regen is so good with low attack speed. I like the nether tentacles idea, I may try that. I almost have enough crit to justify lightning bolts for elemental arrow as well. I feel like bow with some good crit items could make lighting bolts totally awesome. It's funny, I never used elemental arrow growing up, only now that I have reached level 60. I haven't quite gotten the gear together to test it but with disc generation skills and +disc gear it should absolutely be possible. Bow or hand crossbow firing bolas w/15% chance to generate 2 disc, crits sometimes give 1 disc, multishot giving 1 disc per enemy hit, I think it is possible. Considering preparation CD is only 45 seconds, it should be a cakewalk.

This is what I'm running solo. I go full crit with two crossbows. With the attack speed and extra crit dmg itemization/gem on both crossbows Imminent Doom hits like a truck WHILE being my generator, multishot guarantees AoE and emergency SS. What I'm finding is that if I know the mobs/affixes well enough I don't need SS 100% of the time, I just need to have good reflex to use it before I get hit. When I'm not solo I take Impale with grievous wounds instead of Multishot and fight from really far away. I really didn't want Shadow Power but I seem to get reflect damage in every single fight.

Klops had a good idea to use nether tentacles instead of Shadow Power. Upside is that it keeps your disc up and can do great damage (hit twice per shot), downside is that it looks nowhere as cool.

I dont think anyone could tell you that definitively without doing some serious math. The amount of damage you gain from extra impales per second from hatred regeneration would have to exceed the amount of extra damage per second you get on impale from the higher damage from using a 2hander. (there are more variables than this but thats the jist of it)
