Lundqvist's stats have been pretty terrible, but his team is allowing a lot more shots to get to him. I was clamoring for Tortorella to be let go after last season, but Vignoult has been tons worse. I get that we have the roster to be a defensive team, despite having offensive talent, but a 4.21 GAA on goalie who 2 years ago won the Vezina trophy is pathetic.

I think Miller is the best goalie that the Oilers can get and actually see a significant improvement in net. Obviously they would have to work it out so that Miller stays at least for 2-3 years. I am seeing a deal like the Halak trade. Montreal got Eller who seems to be a pretty legit number 1 center and the Blues got a legit goalie.

And of course now that he is closer to 35 than 30, and psychologically crippled, and has a penchant for dropping on his knees as soon as a puck career gets inside his blue line he wont be threatening for Vezina but imagine Torts running the Canucks in 2010...they might have won the cup and Luongo the smythe...

torts system is great for good-great goalies. i think torts is gonna do well with that team. outside of the twins, he's got a lot of players who fit his style.
and yeah miller makes no sense because honestly he's been little more than above average since his one bonkers year. granted, buffalo has been bad for a bit now, but even when they were good he wasnt particularly as great as his rep would suggest

Chris Pronger =( The NHL isn't the same without him

Speaking of the Blues and Sharks, tonight's matchup should be great.

That was a really, fucking dirty hit by Lapierre. That retard better get a huge suspension.

More weak goals. Right after we tie it.

Yak playing on top line tonight with RNH and Perron.

This Sharks/Blues game is getting really ugly.

Blues are the new Canucks in terms of scumbaggery.

I'd say.

Because Vancouver has injured so many players...?

Thats the third game in a row the Oilers played well enough to win but just didn't get the bounces. Two weak goals against, and one thats as fluke'y as they come. If Bob and Steigy say its flukey, you know its flukey. Following that same line of reasoning, we really brought it tonight. Bob and Steigy were hugging the Oilers nuts with compliments the entire thrid period.
That being said, Labarbera made some solid saves tonight I suppose.
Hall dived Bobby Orr style to block a shot from going into an empty net. The kids sure have compete thats for sure.
I dont know how to feel at this juncture of the season. 1-5-1 is about as shitty as the Oilers have started the season out for a long long long time, that being said, last five years Oilers have been damn good coming out of the gate so maybe these struggles early on are a good thing. We have certainly played well, and the only game this year where i dont feel the Oilers deserved a better fate was the one against the Canucks.

Mason Raymond with 8 points already. :D

The biggest joke of this NHL season is people complaining about the hits to Hertl. Both of those hits the players hitting him could probably have put him on the IR with a concussion, both didn't head hunt. Hertl is playing with his head down and try to avoid hits, they were as much his fault as the other players. Just because you want to skate headfirst into the slot and fall down doesn't mean its the other players responsibility to move out of the way, it's your own damn fault for being an idiot.
If Edler had put his elbow up and targeted Hertls head he wouldn't have skated away from that, same thing with the other hit.
Van hasn't been the dirtiest team in the league for a long time, they might have some bad diving tendencies, so do other team's. P.S Edmonton is terrible, I live here, and I can't wait for a few weeks down the road when everyone in the city gives up on this team like they do every year. "Hockey?, I'm sooooo over it" The hipster cry of an Oiler's fan after a 2-12-5 start.
