That game was absolutely all oilers until labarbera scored on their only scoring chance. It wasn't even a good one, was like weak back hands short side on the ice. Bench just got absolutely deflated after that goal. Just brutal. We've scored first every game this season, then shortly after the other team gets a weak pizza to tie it up.

I'd say your tandem is Raycroft-ing pretty hard (heck even his numbers were better then again it's not even ten games).

@Starstruck I'd be interested to see if that were the case. But there is no data for shot attempts before the lockout. 1999-2003 certainly presented a time that defensive hockey could win, as it was easier to defend players who tried taking possession into the zone.

Oh I was talking in general and yeah shark it's quite something else I wish I could pull those stat pages myself. Ron Wilson was the guy who actually got the Leafs to shoot a lot more compared to Paul Maurice and Pat Quinn even though Pat Quinn was telling guys like Tomas Kaberle to shoot the puck more often because his shot was pretty good, but you know how some players are. :V Our puck possession has never been worse, but in those days we still lacked shots on the net and even then when we did out shoot other teams we would be more prone to losing.

It takes some time to ween off of Torte's style I guess. >_< I don't expect the NYR to have a big turn around by February. ;/

I'd think that they'd be able to snag at least a decent alternative for a second round pick. Miller will cost a lot more, and I'm not sure that sinking so many assets into him is the right move at this point. They're still a really young, inexperienced team. Its simple really, we dont want a mediocre guy. A mediocre guy would be nice, but I think that trade right now is also harder to make, especially when you factor in we at 50 contracts. If you are going to make a trade and give up assets you better be damn sure that you are getting a legit 'Tender. Why gamble when you can trade futures for a sure thing?

So I do believe he'd be a significant upgrade for EDM for at least 2 or 3 years. His skills could well deteriorate by then. Mactavish has a lot of assets to work with, and BUF is in a rebuild. Let's say EDM will be a mid level team this year. Cory Schneider went to NJD for a #9 pick and is better and younger than Miller, but most thought that NJD got a total steal for a franchise goalie. Miller is in a contract year, and has no reason to stay in EDM at this point. Why give BUF any more than a 2nd and 3rd round pick in addition to a #6-10 prospect? EDM could very well be terrible this year, and would not want to sacrifice a first rounder. If it's available, maybe trade a 1st rounder from 2015 for Miller. EDM should definitely not trade its young talent for a guy who will potentially leave after the year is done. Most of the teams that have goalie issues of some kind are close to the cap and couldn't take Miller on, so they are unlikely to be in a bidding war. Except, of course, the Islanders! It makes so much sense for them to try to get him, but BUF may be wary to deal him in the conference. So if Miller does go to EDM, they have little incentive to overpay for one year of his services. I don't buy that he's "motivated" because of the Olympics. He's an incredible professional athlete who goes through ups and downs, and is proven to be at the very least better than most goaltenders.
