The rest of the game was meh. They weren't bad but they weren't really good either. Listened to the announcers say the Oiler were top 10 or something in the faceoff dot and i am thinking how the fuck is that possible. Seems like they lose every draw and the only time they come out with the puck is stealing the other guys win. Not many clean wins is basiclly what Im saying

It'll be even better if Edler gets suspended for his hit on Hertl. He'll probably get away with it, though.

And while the Leafs are a bottom 4 playoff team, in the West they'd get fucked up hard so I think something must be pretty wrong in Nashville. This is the second year now that Rinne has been pedantic. Fucked up hard? I wonder what you mean by that because stylistically the Leafs aren't an easy team to play against.

I blame Holland for collecting this retirement age home but also Babcock who clearly wishes he was coaching LA or the Blues, full of grinding and forechecking but his team isnt built like that at all. I feel the same

I didn't see the game but if it was a really one-sided, dominant performance by the leafs then we have a pretty huge disconnect between the 'saw it good' and the 'stats' which is worth talking about. If one were to look at the numbers, they'd assume Nashville deserved a better fate: http://www.extraskater.com/game/2013-10-10-maple-leafs-predators By the way, extraskater.com is a cool new site to check out if you guys haven't already.

That's interesting because technically the Leafs did have more quality scoring chances, which they did bring up in the telecast. Bernier only gave up one rebound. They covered the lanes well with their sticks and we moved the bodies out of the way to make Bernier's life a lot easier. I wouldn't call it one-sided, but on the defensive end, even with all the regular problems of turnovers, not winning faceoffs, etc. The Leafs managed to keep their changes short with eventually getting the puck out & Bernier getting the whistles. The Leafs really came alive midway through the game. Nowhere near a dominant performance and the score really doesn't justify it, but I would say we had higher percentage opportunities. In other news, Tyler got 4 points last night against Winnipeg. He's warming up whereas, Loui is still looking for his first point. :o) and then he scores the game winning goal against the Jackets haha.

It seems to be working so far, but it'll take the rest of the year to see if it's actually a legitimate strategy. edit: found the link! http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/9799967/toronto-maple-leafs-advanced-stats Tell me something I don't already know, lol. It's the same shit as the other guy and I don't buy the rest of the year crap because they've been doing this shit for a while now. You'd think the boys would improve at the face off circle or be a little tighter and stop turning over the puck but no. The funny thing is even though they turn over the puck or get rid of it to get fresh legs on the ice they still find ways to get the opposition to turn over the puck causing the counter attack and what do you know. They still get quality scoring chances when they avoid Kessel syndrome (as in his old antics). Anyway, I have a hard time believing their fortune will turn sour the same way I believe the turnovers and puck possession game won't change anytime soon. As long as they take the lanes away and tie and bump them up I'm fine with it. Last game Bernier showed terrific rebound control if he keeps that up, well good luck finding the net. That and we have three good scoring lines, so when we do get chances they're usually good unless Phil goes back to old antics because we all know how much he likes to shoot the puck even if it's from a bad position. Reason I give Kessel a lot of flack is he does it a lot. He gets a stupid amount of shots on the net and we know his ratios. ;/

May as well gamble. Edmonton should have won that game. Dubnyk didn't make a big save when it was needed and let in a few soft ones. I though Edmontons defence was pretty good, puck pressure was excellent and they destroyed the leafs on the dot. No saves. 6 goals. 26 shots. Every game they allow 4+. Asking the forwards to put in 5 every game is way to tall a task. edit: Dubnyk should not have played that puck. Soooo dumb

Soooo dumb Yeah, i dunno, every goaltender makes atleast one good save in every game. I have not seen Dubnyk make a single one. That 0.749 tonight is too good. Also, apparently Bolland is allowed to Bertuzzi RNH without a penalty call... Sweet.
