Justin Abdelkader was awarded the "Steve Downie" certificate of distinction for his double forearm shiver right through the skull of one Vladimir Sobotka.
Needless to say, I was cheering hard for the Czech Rebublic after that hit.
A player can only take so many shots like that before they have to change their style of play.
No one covers hockey as well as teh CBC, another great job here. everyone get out their Canadian VPNs!
where is that guy that wanted Prust to run around and hit guys because it would help the Rangers?
The Canadiens ..really really miss Price's great puck handling. According to leading Actuarial Scientists Price's puck handling makes him worth exactly (1/e) of a defenseman when the puck is shot in.
I love how the Rangers are dumping it in and making the Canadiens defense and goalie combo have to deal with something they are uncomfortable with... if this is a new wrinkle introduced by Vigneault its a good one. these shoot-ins are a walk in the park for Price.
and gee.. when they dump it in they are not in possession of the puck.
hahahaha PK with another trademark PK error.
The Don Cherry Report
Cherry nailing bang right on exactly why Subban is average defensively with specific plays. Cherry wants the return to giant posts holding the nets on so that crashing players fear the net. IIHF going to 2+2 for goalie interference. Congratulating Carter for not over-celebrating goals.
they now cut to an earlier coach's corner... Cherry making note of San Jose running up the score with a 2 man advantage in round 1 against LA "never rub it in... you just give ammunition to the other coach"
i think its a case of "styles make fights" and the NYR style is totally different from the Bruins. they just can't handle the NYR forecheck.
Subban is just making mistakes all over the place, and is being astutely pointed out by CBC's finest... and unfortunately, these are the same kinds of errors i saw from him at the 2009 WJHC.

i can't believe Canada lost with superstars like Scrivens and Reimer in net. i guess Bernier, Luongo, and Smith had no interest in playing.
onto a nice heartwarming story Dustin Tokarski's mom had to call around to midget "AAA" teams in Sasketchewan to get her son a spot on a team giving him a shot at Junior "A".
If Subban is hurt, the millisecond Montreal is eliminated from the playoffs there will be a 5 hour press conference simulcasted in french and english explaining his injury in detail and giving Subban an alibi. I know you guys are wondering what i think on this Subban injury issue and i say i have no idea if he is hurt or not.
Despite 2 clutch goals from Chicago's clutch captain.. LA wins any way.
It looks like game 4 between the Canadiens and Rangers will be nasty. the canadiens are questioning whether or not Stepan had surgery Canadien's coach Therrien is upset that the Rangers coaching staff was watching their practice.
Regarding Carcillo's suspension i have only one cliched comment on that " get 'em off the ice ref! ! ! "
this will be Carcillo's 7th suspension... Carcillo should just STFU and go home. if the Rangers make it to the 7th game of the finals after going 7 in the semis i can't see them putting a guy in the line up who has not played in 20 days.
and the NHL Stanley Cup playoffs are not the only place for nasty, ugly incidents. Here we have the Russian coach giving the Swedish coach the throat-slash gesture. Folks, these 2 teams don't like each other.
i wonder if Don Cherry will feature this on Coach's Corner?
