![]() and if he conserved his strides the way almost any defensive-minded defeneman or even like Scott Neidermayer.. then longer shifts would be ok. instead he is running around like a chicken with his head cut off. He let in 2 weak ones and had fairly meh rebound control. Montreal won because Lundqvist did the exact same thing and got beat a few times extra too boot. The whole playoffs it's been bad. Series to series has no consistency. You had MTL/BOS last round were the ref forgot what the whistle does while the guys running LA/ANA blew there's constantly. I don't even know how to describe the refs for this round. LA/CHI officiating seems ok in comparison to what the Rangers and Habs are putting up with.

tokarski's goals were shit, but he also did have some big saves later in the 3rd to preserve the lead. It should have never been that close though.

2nd goal was a great tip in by Gorges. Problem was it was into his own net. Neither of those goals were "terrible play" by Tokarski, he was in decent position for both goals. 3rd goal Tokarski rebound control was a bit weak, but with Montreal having 4 guys in front of the net someone has got to clear the puck. No one player gets a finger of blame that is a goal from the textbook formula of "shoot it low and hard and release it quick and stuff in a rebound". 4th goal the Canadiens were outnumbered down low and the 1 guy that was supposed to be covered by the defenseman stuffed it in. none of this implies that 1 specific montreal defenseman gets the "finger of blame". sometimes goals are scored because players are the other team are good. so all in all i'd have to say Hrudey, Maclean and Cherry are correct and our forum-goers who think Tokarski gave up shit goals are wrong. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() i just fuckin' love the guy.. what hockey mind he has. On May 20 2014 08:53 Slaughter wrote: I'm a Red Wings fan so of course I saw the god damn games. Roy was a piece of a team, a team that was very good. You know they were the second seed in the conference right? Giguere stole a series against the Wings, Roy played well yes but don't pretend that he carried the Avs kicking and screaming to victory. And this condescending "watch the games" crap should stop, its really annoying and pointless. here is why u r getting "condescending" .. "watch the games". the 1996 Red WIngs had 1 of the most dominant regular seasons in the history of the NHL. on par with the Red Wings record of 62-13-7 were a handful of teams in the post WW2 era.. some 70 years of hockey history. the 95-96 Red Wings the 75-76 Canadiens the 77-78 Canadiens. the 12-13 Blackhawks - a much easier feat over 48 games... also the "3 point game" nullifies their accomplishment relative to the other teams in this list. however.. still really good. the 76-77 Canadiens all these teams won the Cup except the Red Wings. .. the other common theme is Bowman's involvement the Avs taking out Red Wings in 6 games in a BO7 was an upset of historic proportions given the regular season the Red Wings had... the Avs had 102 points.. a good team... far from a great team. how do upsets like this happen? with great goaltending by the winning team. Disregarding these numbers, take the time to actually watch the games and you'll see the Patrick Roy put forth the same kind of performance he did in 86,93, and 01 when he won the Cup and the Conn Smythe. Florida outplayed the Avalanche in the finals.. with "The Beezer" having a once-in-a-career run through the playoffs. He was great. Avs sweep the 4 game series for only one reason. Roy > The Beezer the Avs clinched the cup with a 63 save shutout by Roy. i'll say it again, 63 save shut out.
