I think Taylor Hall saying he's excited to have Eakins back next year outweighs anything the healthy scratch defenceman Belov says. I think Belov probably deserved a better fate (ie, he was a way better defender than say Fraser) but he was nothing special. I get that he might be hot shit in the KHL, but in the NHL he is pretty much just a replacement level player. | ||

Belov is kind of an interesting case because no one really "saw him good", in that he was pretty slow and unspectacular, yet the numbers still say that people paired with him fared better than when paired without him. He is perhaps lacking in a few ways that will keep him from being a good, NHL defender, but at the same time I'm not sure he was put in much of a position to succeed. But the comments really don't matter. I feel as though his decision to leave for the KHL has as much to do with the NHL in general as it does the Oilers. Otherwise there are 29 other teams in the league that he could try and sign with which, last I checked are not coached by Dallas Eakins. It just feels like a bit of a parting shot from a frustrated guy who took a pay-cut to try and make it in the NHL and failed. Now he will go back to the KHL, a game which much better fits his style of play, make a lot more money and not have to live abroad. But yeah, 100% coach's fault. Too be fair, I'm pretty sure Taylor Hall would have been happy to have Tom Renney back too, or Ralph Krueger for that matter - anything that stops the revolving door of inconsistency that these guys have dealt with behind the bench for the last 5 years or so. I think it's mostly just being sick of new coaches and not knowing what to expect - never having anything to build on year over year. | ||

The fact that he has done it as many times as he has, means he gets no benefit of the doubt. That and the fact that cookies got a in person hearing, plus the fact that we've been over this last page or the one before with plenty of proof that the "pulling up" he did was to change the angle to guarantee the knee to knee proves that that huge piece of shit was up to his old tricks. | ||
