OCEANSIDE, CALIFORNIA – August 10, 2012 – Today, Quantic Gaming is proud to welcome Jeff "MaximusBlack" Johnston to our organization. As one half of the popular "LAG TV" YouTube channel and one of the hosts of the populr "When Cheese Fails" series, Jeff is a well-known and highly regarded online media personality and entertainer.
Along with bringing all the regular programming his massive fan base enjoys on a daily basis, Jeff will also become a contributing member of the prestigious Razer Academy, where his weekly "Quest to Grandmaster" series will chart his journey to pro status as he learns from Quantic's outstanding StarCraft II roster. In addition to his participation in the Razer Academy, Maximus will also be representing Quantic at tournament events and select industry events throughout the year.
Quantic's Founder & CEO commented on the acquisition:
"It's an absolute pleasure to have the opportunity to work with someone like Jeff – not only because he has legions of fans, but because he is dedicated to become the best player he can be. I warmly welcome him to the organization, and I hope fans look forward to his participation in the Razer Academy!"

Congrats to MaximusBlack and quantic and good luck on your quest to grandmaster

He will never be a good player. From looking at his play I wouldn't even put him at mid-master, he only 4gated until a few months ago.
Quite clearly a personality pickup and nothing to do with his play. best of luck to quantic anyway.

I didn't think of Quantic, but it's great that he can find a team with such great training opportunities.

I agree on him not deserving to be Top8, but I still think if he doesn't get tilted as much as he does and stops cannoning, all inning and 4gating he can be good just like any other player who has ambitions. Clearly a PR pick.

starting to dislike Quantic more and more :/ this is a pure marketing move as MaximusBlack shows 0 potential to become good.... even if he ever gets GM on NA which he is far away from rigthnow, so what? the 2nd reason to pick him up "he wants to become the best player he can be" seems more like an excuse to justify picking someone up purely because of his fanbase consisting of a bunch of low level players to help spreading your own brand.
SaSe and the partnership with ST are the only reasons now that Quantic can be seen as a serious team which concentrates on talent/ strong players. Thought this team was gonna be different after they picked up Apoc, SaSe and Naniwa but I guess I was wrong.. the merge with Vile, picking up flo because she is female and now this is something I can't relate myself to. I am kind of dissappointed, because Quantic used to be my favorite foreign team for a long time.

i have always shared this sentiment. i loved his WCF series and when he and his partner Adam would do funny sc2 based shows, but once he tried to reach masters and gm, he started taking himself far too seriously. sadly i have seen little improvement from observing his play quite frequently over the past few months.

Gratz to MB! Hopefully Quantic can make him a better play (Sase?) and as a personality and entertainer he fully deserve that!

Hell always be a step down from Destinys personality.
But good luck to him, Quantic needed a new publicity character after losing destiny and naniwa.
Thats the real reason why I see them picking him up. All the other players on Quantic are kinda lacking in the promoting the team prodcut.
One step closer to being like EG and promoting stuff.

Hell of an addition, congrats to both parties!

This man has the mind of a champion. Best of luck MB!

I don't understand why you would pick someone up just for their personality, but never the less, goodluck.
