But that's just how western eSports business is. Skill-wise, the west will never overcome Korea and you can't beat a man at his own game anyway. So the west has to play it's own "game", which is investing into marketing and recruiting personalities that help extend their fanbase and number of followers, so that the team gets/retains sponsorships.

But good luck to him, Quantic needed a new publicity character after losing destiny and naniwa.
Thats the real reason why I see them picking him up. All the other players on Quantic are kinda lacking in the promoting the team prodcut.
One step closer to being like EG and promoting stuff.
What ? More like step ahead if anything.

E-sports is a marketing business anyway you look at it. If you dont have anything to market you dont have a business.

yea but most teams invest into players who are at least capable of competing with the top... Maximusblack is a 1k p masters player or something... its a 100% marketing move and Quantic doesn't even admit it. Thats what I hate about this whole thing... he is not even one of those guys who has a fanbase because he was good at 1 point. Most other popular players at least were really good during their prime and just started to slowly fade away but still play at an acceptable level. Maximusblack is a completely different story.

Quite clearly a personality pickup and nothing to do with his play. best of luck to quantic anyway. Anyone can become a good player with enough dedication and motivation
Exactly very good point.

Exposure, and he wants to improve and hit GM which is part of his series and personality.
He's done a great job of marketing himself, watching Maximus Black is like watching a reality show almost in the sense that he has a goal and he is showing his fans every single step of the way there while being an entertaining personality.

Huh, that's a good point, never thought of it in this way.

the jealousy reeks off this post.

smart pick up - obviously not the greatest player but will give way more exposure to Quantic than some barcode korean and is less risky than giving a chance to an up and coming player who is GM but doesn't stream and/or lacks personality

EDIT: nevermind not worth a post

right... it is just my personal opinion, you don't have to share it. I guess that's just how NA teams work nowadays, the skill gap is so big that they have to get 1 clown per team to promote their sponsors etc otherwise they would just die out. I hope the day never comes where dignitas, mouz, Empire and roxkis start to pick up Paris Hilton's to start a reality show on twitch.tv.

Glad to hear it, he's a great contributor to the community who deserves solid names backing him. His play showed marked improvement after his boot camp with Desrow, so having a good team supporting him can only lead to great things. As per usual with anything related to MB, he and the team supporting him will cop some flak from his ardent haters (I still dunno what Reddit's problem is), but he's got one of the most dedicated fanbases in the game, and he's only going to show improvement because of his willingness to use any and all resources at hand, so I know who's going to get the last laugh.

4gates... every single game.... The only reason he 4gates now is if he's against some lameass stream sniper or wants to get his MMR back up. Popular people always have morons like you who complain about insignificant things like this. All I see that Jeff needs to do is manage his army better, stop lumping them together a lot of the time, and scout the opponent better. Stop posting like you're in bronze league.

No he doesnt.
on the topic:
I am fan of MB and I am glad he got a team behind him who can actually support team kinda good, but Quantic is just.. meh

First off congrats to MaximusBlack on joining up with quantic! :D Best of luck on your new team and good luck at the Razer Academy!

Thought this team was gonna be different after they picked up Apoc, SaSe and Naniwa but I guess I was wrong.. the merge with Vile, picking up flo because she is female and now this is something I can't relate myself to. I am kind of dissappointed, because Quantic used to be my favorite foreign team for a long time.
I just wanted to respond to you post that SaSe and ST are the only reasons you consider Quantic a "serious team which concentrates on talent/strong players"
In the WCS North American Championship Quantic has 5 players (Illusuion, The Ognis, State, DdoRo, Hawk) that's more players represting their team than anyone else. Second place goes to Root with 4 players followed by EG with 3. So I think that is a silly claim to make that Quantic can only be seen as a serious team because of SaSe and ST.
