Calling somebody a hater because they have criticism, whether you find it legitimate or not, is such a cop-out. It's the same as calling somebody a troll because they disagree. Nobody can deny that to this point you've made yourself as an entertainer and have not proven yourself at all as a serious player. A "hater" might say that it's impossible for you to ever prove yourself in that way, but I don't see very many people saying that. "All the haters" is just exaggerating, and playing the victim.
Good luck with Quantic. Your fan-base comprises some bizzaro world, parallel universe of SC2* that is completely foreign to most of us, and I think that many of us are hoping that any influx of the sort is not a deleterious one. I believe that is why there is an air of anxiety/negativity in this thread.

I thought it was going to be ROOT, but glad he is on Quantic regardless.
Jeff / Maximusblack streams an ABSURD amount, flew Desrow out to his place for a week with coaching and I have seen improvement from him in PvT and PvZ (Not much improvement in PvP honestly). He is very dedicated and I am glad he is doing well. He isn't the best player, no one can argue that. But if you call him out on his stream HE will call you out right back and challenge you. He has my respect and I do believe he will put in the hours to become a better player. This partnership with Quantic will help with that potential.
Of course you cannot ignore the fact that he can also be very entertaining. That's honestly the main reason I tune in -- that and the 'story' -- you WANT him to succeed. You want him to do well and go to GM, and every time he busts out Tenacious D's "Master Exploder" and interacts with the chat you can just feel the energy. He's a showman that you can relate to and want to succeed. I hope that is what people take away from this pick-up.

Just to clarify something, I'm going to copy/paste a reddit post from the QuanticMaximusBlack thread.
Since there seems to be a little confusion, just to clarify: Jeff is joining us as a media personality, not as a professional-level player. Through the Academy, he does seek to eventually reach pro status in the future and we want to help him reach that goal.
There you go, haters.

I can also vouch for what MB adds to the community. Almost a year ago, I had just picked up Starcraft 2, and had absolutely no idea what I was doing. I literally knew nothing about the game. One of my buddies, who to this day still despises Starcraft, saw a When Cheese Fails video on youtube and, knowing how I was trying to get into SC2, sent me the video. That night I watched every episode of WCF that was on the LAGTV youtube channel at the time, and those videos brought me into the Starcraft community. Since then, I've spent countless hours watching pro streamers and Day9 dailies trying to improve my play. I've made it a habit to check TeamLiquid multiple times a day so I don't miss anything. I even stayed up all night to watch the GSTL finals and then went on a two hour road trip for my brothers birthday. In 2 weeks, I'll be going to my first MLG (just as a spectator, though). This introduction to basically an entire community I never even knew existed, was all thanks to MaximusBlack and NovaWar and their LAGTV channel. So to MB, I just want to say good luck with Quantic. I'll continue to support you as long as you're still doing this. Bouse one time.

Stream then and see.
Can you bring in enough viewers that WANT you to succeed to get coaching/help from the Quantic Academy? It is a personality pick-up and Jeff will certainly be improving in this environment.

awesome news! )_ GL Jeff, you can do it.

No he doesnt. yes, he does. Wow, looking at your posts here in this thread you are clearly jelly or something. No he doesnt, guess you havent seen him play and in a while, or wasnt following him when he bought desrow a plain ticket and let him stay in his house so he could coach him for a week, or you never watch the stream for more than 3 hours. Please get your facts straight
whatever man, have it your way. the facts are on the table, take it or leave it. oh, and as a matter of fact, i did watch his stream when desrow was present. that was the first time in half a year i had seen him not 4gate all day.
also, "looking at your posts here in this thread you are cleaerly jelly", lol. you have an interesting understanding of jealousy, buddy.
Be quiet. You're obviously a hipocrit and have some bone to pick with Maximus Black. Your favorite team is ROOT? Were you shitting on CatZ after picking up Athene? Obvious publicity stunt. Were you shitting on ROOT after picking up a DOTA squad? Obvious publicity stunt, their "team" is a bunch of no names who don't even have a 50% win ratio. I could go pick 5 random high level DOTA players and make a better team. Did you shit all over SlayerS and ST for picking up female players in what could only be hurting E-Sports because there are better players? For all the crap you want to direct at MaximusBlack, he is streaming daily, with a good number of viewers and obviously has some shred of dedication to the game. I agree, he will most likely never post tournament results, but neither will 85% of the pro scene
whatever you're smoking, i want some.

"haters".. as opposed to what everyones been saying from teh start. maximusblack = public figure, not professional gamer. inb4 "but he makes money, bla, bla" yea, yea, you get my drift.

Become one of the most popular Youtube personalities of all time, plus become one of the most popular Twitch steamers of all time. Then maybe.

My post was dripping with sarcasm. I don't find anything wrong with ROOT's decisions, I actually watch Koreya a fair amount. Was just pointing out that every other team does this kind of stuff, it's called marketing. Look at any traditional sports organization. Your favorite football club? Yea they arent sustained soley on tournament winnings. They most likely make a ton of revenue through merchandizing/advertising/endorsement, all sorts of methods not related to the sheer strength of the team. Quantic has always been involved in more than purely the competitive aspect of SC2. They have their competitive players in good practicing environments, so it makes sense to focus on being able to sustain that.

Quite clearly a personality pickup and nothing to do with his play. best of luck to quantic anyway.
I think it's quite clear that they're not picking him up for his play.

Awesome. I love the stream and I'm hoping he can get past his mental blocks and improve to GM level, and I think this will help him on his way.
If he were a bit better, I could actually see Quantic using him as a team league sniper, since very few pros would know who he is or how he plays and his all-ins are usually pretty strong (almost beat MVP with one, for example).
