Oh well I'll always have the GSL/OSL/PL even if the foreign sc2 scene nukes itself into oblivion. I fail to see how getting the community to act more professionally will "nuke" it.
Not talking about professionalism, I mean if sponsors keep getting contacted about every little thing and pull out eventually.

I don't know why you think your the shit, but in the end, it's performance results, sportsmanlike attitude (arrogant or humble), hard work, that makes you respected in this community and sport.
Sure you might have fans now because your a US foreigner, but in the end your crappy attitude will bite you back, and you will become irrelevant, if you don't change
you know you didn't have to watch his stream right? stop trying to police the world to your standards

Come-on. How many potential sponsors have we lost with the racist remarks, compared to how many sponsors we've hurt and deterred through the lynching and weekly witch hunts. "We need to legitimize E-Sports and if that means getting rid of racist pigs, then so be it"
No. That's not going to be the solution to anything at all. How many streamers who have a fan base and some type of affiliation to a team or organization are going to hide their real selves now in fear of a single slip up? CatZ and Minigun are two people who use moderately foul language, are you going to see them be themselves now? No. Do you want to kill personalities who have helped build this community to what it is today just because you feel the need to legitimize E-Sports? If you guys want this to get any bigger then it is, you have to get the fuck over what someone said when playing in a private game. You're not legitimizing anything. All you're doing is making SC2 look like a big joke where if someone says one bad thing then they're jumped on. I'd say that is doing the opposite, delegitimizing what we built up.
Like I said, this vile, disgusting and hypocritical community is going to be the downfall of such an entertaining, relaxing, tense and beautiful sport. Give yourselves a pat on the back for killing the people who helped builds this to what it is today. I think that most people and personalities realize there's a difference between using a word that targets no one in particular, like "shit" or "fuck", and using a word like "gook" which targets a specific subset of people and has a historical derogatory meaning.

A player should be able to say whatever they want on their personal stream. There is nobody forcing you to watch and if you dislike the language you can simply leave.
It is when a player says offensive things in a tournament setting in which if a person wishes to watch the tournament they must endure language that they do not wish to hear.
However since Destiny is not running around MLGs saying racial slurs, I see no reason as to why he was punished for the commentary on his own stream.

The community maturing to a point where we don't condone angry racial and homophobic slurring [b]is progress. It makes the community more attractive not only to sponsors, but target markets that we should be looking to attract. This sort of language just makes this community unappealing to minorities, women, gays, etc who actually do take offense to this sort of language. Why would you want to be part of such a hostile community? You will find your fun somewhere else that you feel is more tolerable, and our community may just stagnate.
We should be looking to make the community more inclusive, instead of using language to keep it exclusive. I'm tired of people talking about white-knighting, as if this isn't something people get upset about every single day all over the country. Or that it is somehow not justified to be upset that a prominent and visible representative of your community is acting in an embarrassing manner.
It's unfortunate that people went to the sponsors so quickly again. Hopefully the next time something like this occurs, people give the teams time to respond.

So disappointed in this community...

It's about time.
I had trouble respecting Quantic as a professional organization with them tacitly condoning all of Destiny's rhetoric and antics. I emailed them to this effect over a month ago. I'm very glad they've finally disassociated themselves with this repugnant individual.
Judging from Destiny's response, he hasn't learned anything from any of this. At least with IdrA it seems like he knows when he's being an asshole (and just happens to enjoy pushing people's buttons). But Destiny really and truly seems to believe all the bile that pours out of his mouth, and that's just... sad and disturbing.

I feel bad for you Stephen, you have the world at your fingertips and you just don't get it. At one point you'll become irrelevant and then you'll be another sad, tragic person. I mean Shakespeare's characters go through some sort of self-discovery. You seem to have not developed this character trait.
Good luck to you in the future.

This severely saddens me that everything that has transpired over the last few days has come to this; even though Destiny himself doesn't seem to be too fazed by what has happened. Though I believe the community has voiced their opinion on what they feel was the right thing to do, I cannot say I agree with that notion.
Yes, I am what many would consider to be a "Destiny fanboy," but I am also a "TL (and eSports) fanboy." I will always support Destiny for being a staple of the entertainment I receive on a daily basis. I will also continue to support TeamLiquid.net, it's players and of course all of their sponsors.
That being said, and with a heavy heart, (though most of you probably don't care) I feel that I will need some time away from this community. I hope to return someday with perhaps a more level head but I just cannot show my support to a community who acts upon events so hastily and with as much hostility as the community has shown recently.
Good bye TeamLiquid but good luck and have fun! <3

Good decision by both Destiny and Quantic. I've a feeling they want him to stay but in the end, he will destroy a clean image which they must project.

Wow.....
First it was Orb.
Now it was Destiny.
The hell is wrong with people.

How many people emailed? A hundred, at best? How many people casually follow esports and tune into, say, MLG? Thousands if not hundreds of thousands. Razer knows this, and knows that the number of angry nerds vs number of stream or tourney viewers is much smaller.
Although I do agree that teams should be contacted directly before sponsors are.

everyone saw this coming. In all honesty he does what he does best and that is entertaining his stream viewers

I think that if someone doesn't like the content of a person's personal video channel, you have the right to tune in to any other channel.
I honestly wonder if some of you are just acting this way because it's Destiny, or if you were the guys who emailed ESPN because they had a headline mentioning the word "chink" (not even in the derogatory context) about Jeremy Lin.
I was taught that words and phrases only have power because we, as a society, allow them to. Instead of being so concerned about what words are being used, we should be more mindful of their context and message. It's a shame that "mother fucker" is only offensive because people don't like the word "fucker," instead of disliking it because of what it implicates.

For those that actually wrote to sponsors for this and that Orb thing, did you ever wrote anything to the sponsors outside of these lynch campaigns? Why not? Wouldn't positive thank you emails contribute far more than throwing one of us under the bus each month? Exactly, but on the other hand, players need to be more careful.
