While I understand that there's a need to discuss this matter, this thread has way too many trash posts in it. Please think carefully about what you want to say. Ad hominem attacks on Swedish people in general, calling you fellow Starcraft fans idiots etc etc will be dealt with with harsher punishment from here on out. Keep it civil people.
Page 230: Here's some more stuff that'll get you banned! - Conspiracy theory mongering about MLG and GOM - Comparing people to Hitler - Posting useless one liners of arguments that have already been repeated ad nauseum. |

All unrelated and separate but guess what the common factor in all of them is. Not a hater or a fan, just sayin.
Now we just need another team switch / name change from Major to complete the circle of e-sports drama.

Any reasonable organisation that plans to host a Global event has to accept that people from countries outside their own will have different ideals and will not act in a manner that will conform to you strict cultural sensibilities.
Complexity and Quantic have now suffered significant financial damages because of this decision. Furthermore, Naniwa has invested significant time and effort into participating in this league and is now suspended.
GOM has even stated that Naniwa is a money-hungry player. This suggests that GOM probably did not consult Naniwa before they made their decision. Why? Because Naniwa has maintained and shown that, whilst he is introverted and has trouble keeping his emotions in check, his aspirations lie with being the best.
Except throughout the thread people from all cultures (including yours) have supported GOM's decision. It's not a korean vs the world thing.

well, when the next gsl is on air i will not tune in... simple as that
i won't watch some hypocrites with double standards. GOM now looks a little bit more kespa... What double standard? Care to explain? people don't know what the word hypocrite or the phrase double standard actually mean evidenced by plenty of posts in this thread. Remove player for damaging the integrity of competition, randomly add two players to code S without qualifying. I see no hypocrisy here. there are spots that need to be filled and how they fill them is up to them. and they weren't random choices... idra is never a random choice. he brings lots of viewers with him, for example. no integrity has been damaged by them seeding foreigners. Oh come on, they are adding foreigners to keep their quota and the viewers. Otherwise it would have been a mini tournament or something. so they aren't random, like I said
if they lose the games they will drop out
are all tournaments done by invite damaging to the integrity of competition? no.

Yes the Naniwa defenders are certainly the ones that are butt hurt....
GOM has shown us how immature and childish they are and I for one is gonna vote with my wallets, no more tickets for me
Why is nearly everyone from Sweden defending him? Blind nationalism eh? Don't use that as an excuse, it's not only Swede's defending him.
It is not only Korean defending Gom. I'm vietnamese with westernized upbringing and I'm defending them. But I guess you will then bring in the Asian card next.

LOL I only see swedish defending him, cmon it's not the first time he gets banned

Coca wasn't punished by gom, whereas nani was.

lol, talk about trying to find some obscure exuse to kick him out, gsl fucked up big time. Joke tournament that'll never get a cent of my cash!

Respect and professionalism... is that the thing where you kick a player out for NOT breaking any rules, then call him a Prizemoney hunter in a press release?? What about kicking out the player that you know can take out your two cash cows in MVP and Nestea as he did last week, just to bring in a player who is known to say "Fuck You" with 50,000 people watching, because he draws in more viewers? All about the money.
Thats professionalism according to you?

Too harsh IMO. I think Naniwa screwed up and should be punished since he sometime has to learn that it's time to grow up and start acting like a professional gamer, start to value the position he's in. That said, he didn't break any actual rules. He should get a warning and GOM should change their rules to disallow throwing games, but it isn't fair to punish him in such a way when he didn't break any clear rules.

It's ok though, because the international SC2 scene have an infinite amount of awesome tournaments. which are made possible thanks to Korean players.

NO ONE IN THEIR RIGHT MIND can HONESTLY SAY "Naniwa not playing his games was professional, he acted like an adult, and I would have done the same" HE ISNT ONLY PLAYING FOR HIMSELF. Hes playing FOR sweden. FOR the foreigner scene. FOR quantic. He needs to be mature and not just give up, its VERY unprofessional, and no one should support him in doing so. He needs to be punished, this isnt even the first time this happened.

What do you want Gom to do after Coca forfeited GSL and relegated to the B team?

Seriously, can you still say that he is "misunderstood"? Best Comment! Made my day. Thank you Sir! 4 Internets for you ^ this look at his history guys he isn't changing his attitude
What is the rule? Once a mistake, twice just a coincidence and three times or more a habit?

Such a disappointing series of events. Naniwa should have fourgated or proxy gated or anything but still Kyrix drone rushed twice. Smart move by GOM I guess because no one will ever try something like that again but still like Destiny said GOM generates a lot more interest with foreigners yet they receive no pay. But there are different standards, I live in Australia so there isn't much of an incentive to get a gomtv pass because I can watch it live. Now it is even less so, I want to see Naniwa play because he is a foreigner and I am sick of the gomtvt. I think gom acted appropriately but I am less interested and they have saved me 70 bucks
|
I emailed GOM that I'm not buying any more tickets if this goes through. If enough people do it they might change the severity of the punishment.

Warning or disqualification - 경기중에 과격한 행동으로 상대 게이머나 관중들에게 위협을 가할 때 - During a match, a player shall not offend the opponent or audience with abusive behaviours
How was this offensive to the audience? (Sure wasn't for NesTea.) I sure wasn't offended. In fact I've seen alot worse.
I seem to recall NaNi 'gg'd out of the game aswell............. how offensive? GET REAL GOMTV!!?

Most probably agree on the strange ruling but Nani's attitude is bad enough that many don't care and are even glad it's happened.

We shouldn't assume that culture equals the nation you were born in. This is not about koreans vs swedes but about the culture of valuing honesty over appearance or the other way around.
The problem is not related to a certain country at all.
