probably mech since it's used more often, it's used in TvP, TvT and more and more frequently in TvZ

Is there suggested macro openers for each race/matchup. Id like stuff that really teaches me to macro well.

Is it a bad idea to kinda play all three races for a while until I really figure out who I want to play ?

It is definitely not a bad idea to play all three races a bit until you figure out who you want to play. Personally, I did this mostly playing 3v3 or 2v2 and maybe a smaller amount of 1v1 during like the first year I played online. I think the most important is to get a general feeling of how everything works (+possible styles) and of the strengths and weaknesses of units for example in micro (and know the prices and other numbers of most things). Thats why I think you can easily get away just doing fun games for testing the races and not necessarily 1v1s that you might chain-lose.

Macro openers? As P.. well I guess in PvT you can 2 gates goons nexus robo then 4-5 gates then 3rd and keep 1expo ahead and focus on macro... well you can also go 1 gate nexus or even nexus first.. but its more a matter of focusing on macro than having a macro opener? or what do you mean? in PvP uh.. 2 gates robo expo.. some people go nexus first sometimes.. in PvZ I dunno lol forge expand I don´t know tbh macro opener doenst make too much sense to me maybe its a protoss thing. You don´t have the macro power of Z and you don´t have the defensive power of T so. But theres still some room for going in that direction in an opener, I just dont really know how to answer that question or with nexus first in pvp and pvt and forge expand in pvz which you can sometimes make nexus first too. Its going to make a lot of your games shorter I think so I doubt it will help that much for actually practicing macro though (???), maybe rather make sure you have good survival so you can play longer games where there is more macro to do overall, that should also teach you early strategy more broadly.

"Macro opener" is a term I find a bit odd because every strategy in BW that involves the step to take an expansion requires considerable amounts of macro (except some zerg stuff maybe).

I guess you mean 'economic openings' with a build-order that revolves around the idea of securing an early natural base with minimum defenses. These openings can give you an early economy-boost that can be used to build a relatively big army early in the game - or to go for a very quick 3rd base and higher tech.
As a beginner I would recommend you to pick safe, standard build-orders and to focus on macroing well with those. They all focus on getting your natural early, so in a way they are 'macro openers' as you called them. You could also call this a more 'macro-oriented' playstyle because constant worker production and resource-management are particularly crucial to develop the potential strengths of these openings (in contrast for example to rushing your opponent early on from one base, here you can succeed without doing much macro at all).

One thing though: Good macro, especially in the mid- and lategame, is not the result of the build-order. It's in your actual skill to manage your economy, no matter what build-order you choose. Every build-order that aims for reaching the midgame is suited to practice your macro.

In ZvT you can just use the 3hatch-muta-build you played in those replays you posted. It is the economic opening for that matchup.

In TvP I recommend you practice Fake-Double (FD). If that's too hectic then Siege Expand
In TvZ you could practice the 1Rax FE
In TvT I want to tell you to check out the Progamer Last's 1Factory Expand, but this could result in a lot of losses to 2Factory openings or Wraith-play by your opponents...

But all these openings are aiming to secure your natural early on relatively safely and allow for a macro-oriented style.

For the other matchups I don't really know... I think you should pick a race before you start going too deep into build-orders for each matchup, it's really hard (and inefficient) to practice 9 matchups at the same time. Even if you pick a race I'd recommend you learn one matchup at a time.

Trying to get back into this after a few years, where do people play nowadays? I've read some offhand remark about hosting bots being available? Forwarding my ports never goes well...

3 base or 2? I can see how 3 hatch 3 base would struggle a lot (for example if you take another natural on FS. If you're taking your own second natural it's much easier) because you end up forced to defend with lings despite making the hydra investment which would normally just enable you to put pressure on him instead, but small amounts of unupgraded hydras are absolutely terrible and that's prolly all you have.. This would depend on timing and stuff, but I honestly think if I did 3 hatch hydra from 3 base and I noticed that he went 2 gate before core, I prolly cancel hydra upgrades and get ling speed instead. Hard to say anything conclusive because so much depends on when you notice that he's 2gating.

3 hatch from 2 base however should be really good, his tech ends up being super slow and you can drone up heavily while waiting for hydra speed to kick in, at which point you can push him back, take your third and enter mid game in a really healthy position. I do think that if he does 2 gate before core, you should abandon any plans for killing him with a hydra bust, rather focus on getting 3 bases with full lair tech; if he 2 gates before core he can't really triple tech, so either mutas dominate non-corsair, hydras dominate lacking templar, or lurkers dominate lacking observer. Watch out for maelstrom I guess- when I've noticed that I couldn't get air control, that is one way I've somewhat frequently managed to stage a comeback.

Yeah, I meant 3 bases. Thanks for the advice. If I can get a B/A protoss practice partner I'm going to try a few different approaches (Forgoing both hydra upgrades, cancelling only range, something else...) . I was struggling a lot in these games vs players that I normally beat without much effort in a standard game.

If you go 3 hatch hydra against protoss and he went 2nd gate before cyber core, is this supposed to be advantageous for you or bad? In my opinion it should be very good for me, but the zealots hit very early such that i'm forced to make a lot of lings making me strapped for cash. The zealots often are also able to scout the den earlier than normal.

The zealots also make me waste so much time with my hydras chasing them or me microing them to avoid them from getting killed that he can get enough cannons up in time. Then he just goes for early leg speed and makes my life hard.

lets hunt pokemons :D,zvt vs mech is impossible ^^

You make a good point, well executed mech is very hard to beat :D but my post was about protoss!

I don't think so, 8-0 are usually for scans and I think most have factory on 7

You're welcome. I'm always willing to help players who're starting out as best as I can, as I've been there few years ago and it's not easy.

Other (better) players might give you different advice, their knowledge is much more detailed and time-tested than mine (and I hope they criticise my answers here if I'm dealing bullshit). Generally you have to gather a few trustworthy opinions and then choose what works for you.

Why are wraiths more common nowadays in TvT?

It used to be the case that the starport was used for dropships, but nowadays I see more terrans going for a mass wraith strategy. Especially after taking the third base.

We are especially curious if this is the result of the maps which exist today. If maps with more interesting terrain were still commonly played would dropship chess continue to exist?

on FS and CB you play mass wraith, on bluestorm you play mass BC. the reason is the amount of bases.
drop play is very weak on FS. Because middle of CB is very open, drop play there is only good in few locations. bluestorm is rather good for drop play.

Do Protoss still open forge first in PvZ? I've been seeing more Gate first openings recently

yes, it's still the standard. You'll see the Pro's do the gate first at natural and get forge nex later. It's just a variation of the forge fast expand idea, getting the gate before the forge can allow for more pressure very early but is less safe.

regardless if you open nex forge or gate (at natural) first, it's still counted as variation of forge fast FE.
