That's a retarded comparison. Koreans are 99.9%, foreigners were unexpected and, for a while, unwelcome. It's a Korean server for Korean players owned by Koreans hosted in Korea entirely in Korean.

"Serious" is subjective. I'm sure Melee Fish will still be comparable to in terms of skill, if not above, and far more populous than C rank ICCup come April. That is already too high for the bottom ~85?% of ICCup.
EDIT: Skill level being crap on those other servers is true. GameRanger and Garena have resident ~5-10 players that are B and up (ICCup), mostly Fish rejects and people looking to boost confidence. However, if you're just looking for casual or low-level play, then those are also alternatives that were not mentioned by the poster I was responding to. I just wanted to put all the options out there.

i didn't say anything about popularity, my point is skill level.
at least there used to be an incentive to play melee (to farm wins) and also you get the chance to practice seriously against the smurfs, but now zilch, nada.
it will just used as a fun outlet to test builds or for very weak players to gain confidence, nothing more. it will be worst than f- in fish

I doubt average skill level will be below C ICCup, which means it is decent practice for anyone above or at that level, satisfying the same position it held before, no?
The loss of Ladder for many upper-level foreigners will be felt, but perhaps this will help centralize foreign interests on ICCup, or something -_-; We should see more Koreans on ICCup as a result of this measure as well, I think.

melee used to be taken seriously because of 30 wins requirement, now thats gone, who plays 1v1 will now take that seriously? people will do whatever they want like leaving early or giving up at first hint of trouble since its normal stats and not ladder stats, you get my point?
3 accounts per phone is still pretty sizable allowance (not to mention people can also use their relative/friends phones who don't play BW). there will be an influx of koreans to other servers but it won't be that big tbh

Actual opponent on the other end is actually a competent player more often than on ICCup though. On ICCup you have people at C rank who got there by only going 2 Fact Port vs P (or insert your favorite cheese/all-in for noobs here) and don't know anything else. I feel like I'd prefer to play good Terrans on Fish melee that leave at the first sign of trouble/are trying new builds than players who know jack squat about the late game and just all-in every game, for example. I know this is anecdotal, so let me put in differently: I feel like melee Fish will have better players at a higher quantity than comparable populations ICCup ranks for everyone except ICCup A rank foreigners. For them, it probably sucks the hardest.

1. Foreigners will just ask Korean friends to activate their accounts
or
2. Foreigners will leave Fish and join iCCup, guaranteed to bring great players back to the ladder and make it more competitive

I'm talking to a korean friend on Fish right now. He said he'll let me use his number, but he is saying that this verification is only to obtain 'special benefits.' E.g. If you go on massive loss streak, you won't lose extra points and things like this.
He said we can all still ladder without the identification. Obviously I can't read korean but I do trust his word. Is there some disconnect between what's being said in this thread versus what he is saying?
EDIT: He's saying it's just for if you want to create a new account, you can bypass the 30wins/48 hours. As was said in this thread in a previous post. But it doesn't impinge your right to play, you can just get the 30wins/48hours manually as we do now and still continue to ladder. It's just a step to help most players (koreans) bypass the ridiculous rules to set up a ladder account.

Nothing ever mentioned that, either the admins changed something and told him or he's lying. Hearing it from admins isn't unrealistic, we have an admin that hangs in our channel quite often and we're a clan with no achievements whatsoever.

Agree. I trust my Korean friends on Fish. I'm going with my original statement.
EDIT: And if we're wrong, I guess it is what it is. I have a korean number I can use regardless lol. But let's just hope for the best, I don't know why I'd be misled unless my friend is a complete fool.

This ID confirmation system is designed to provide some more ways to enjoy [the server] and through this system we hope to remove a lot of the annoyances that currently exist.
If you do not verify your ID, you will still be able to use the server as is, with no changes.
The steps to the ID verification are as below:
1. When you login to the home page, register your phone. Or register your mobile phone in your profile pag at the channel system page (http://clan.fishbattle.net)
2. Confirm with an SNS sent to your mobile device to verify your ID.
* You can create up to 3 ID's per day
* We are planning on allowing users to deregister [their mobile device] in the future.
The benefits of verifying your ID are as follows:
1. Ladder Games
- Verified ID's do not need 30 wins / 50 hours to play in ladder games.
2. Point System
- Verified ID's can send and receive point gifts.
- During the point gift's duration, the current 20% commission charge is reduced by 0.5%
