I'd still watch this league, even if diehard BW and SC2 fans both won't watch because the other game is involved (they aren't so different, are they). I might be a little optimistic with the "unify the fanbase" but I can't help myself :p You will watch it because you like both games. I enjoy both games too, but I still cannot overlook the fact that this won't be seperate leagues. The results won't really fucking matter to me because of the split focus.

I dont like the idea of having both games at once. I think if this is true it is an obvious non-fan solution to a problem. Some guy in a suit came up with this and thats all there is to it. Sadly, we live in a world where suits own everything and we dont get things our way every time. Despite my longtime love for BW, a game that should never have been put in the position to be phased out to begin with, i feel that Starcraft 2 can eventually be as thrilling and deeply competitive as BW was. Not in the same ways, but enough so that the players, fans, and companies backing it will not notice or care. I do not think that SC2 will ever replace BW in the hearts of longtime BW fans who know the intricacies of it. Asking for that would be ignoring facts about the game, and facts about human beings and their emotions. Sadly, once again, the suits do not care about the people who refuse to play SC2, and are unwilling to grow to like it. I love people who go to extremes and have a "never change" attitude. I love people who choose a passion and never stray from it. I respect and admire those who fall in love with something and never let anything else no matter how shiny draw them away from it. When you "love" something truly, nothing can change your mind about it. And for that i respect every single person who considers SC2 a knife to the throat of BW, the greatest competitive game ever created. But for some, the passion, the thrill, and the "love" is more about competitive spirit. For some, maybe even some who arent yet aware of BW or SC2 and wont come into its scene for another year or more, its not going to matter if dragoons control the same way, or if things never changed and its going to be BW forever. For anyone who knows what its like to never want to give up on BW, consider that some people, maybe even many people, its more about the scene and the collective approach to the game that is the draw. I have the highest respect for BW and its scene. I know, because i was there for like 10 years. I have grown to love the odd characteristics of the game that cannot be replicated, or even explained to someone else until they experience it first hand over the course of many years. But in those 10 years i have learned to love another side of competitive gaming, many other sides, and they are all present in SC2 and will only get stronger the more the game is played, patched, figured out, discussed, laughed over, cried over, stories forged, and legends born and sacrificed again and again long after you had thought no more would. Maybe this isnt the exact right place to say all this, but coming to these forums is painful at times. To read a poster claiming that he loves BW so much that he will "quit" just because he might (might) have to sit through a SC2 match is depressing. To each his own i suppose. Sometimes i laugh at how SC2 barely resembles its predecessor, but you will not see me "quitting" my love for competitive gaming over something so childish. I admire such diehard fandom, because i am the same way sometimes. But i have a hard time believing that eyes are fully open to possibilities when such all or nothing declarations are being made over mere rumors. I dont like the idea of a split PL, even though i love both games. But "quitting" over it is just wrong. I guess even as a huge BW fan i am amazed that some people can watch the really decent level SC2 games and find NOTHING to be hopeful about or interested in to the point where they will "quit" completely over having to sit through a match or two here and there. I hope for the best for both scenes, as i see way more that they have in common than not.

Much larger support, and at least it won't cause some questionable decisions like putting them on one tournament, both of them being different genre and all. Honestly, I think OGN/Kespa are doing it this way because they eventually want to phase BW out of Proleague. So this is some kind of transition. Of course this supposed new format is stupid but then again so were many decisions taken by them in the past 3 years.

It would also be pretty hard to care about match results and team positions in the table if half the games are decided by a game I have no interest in.

If your personal opinion isn't biased for either game (as for example mine is) then yes, your personal opinion is unbiased. Flying Spaghetti Monster, you E-sports fanboys are absolutely amazing people :D

IEM is also pretty enjoyable with CS, SC2 and LoL. Be good to get this partnership going. Um. Those are all just events that ran several tournaments side-by-side. None of them actually combined multiple games into one league. That comparison isn't even close to being valid.

To learn enough about SC2 progaming to be decent commentator at it within one month, that takes a lot of effort! Since he casts off of VODs, he will probably still just commentate BW(should the rumor prove to be true, that is).

Seriously, what the hell are they thinking? I'd rather watch flat out BW or SC2 I honestly cannot see any way that this could be beneficial

Yeah so it might be terrible. I'm willing to give this league a shot, though. You don't want to see an inning of baseball followed by a quarter of basketball? Played by the same team? Followed up with a period of hockey? And an ace match with a set of tennis? I might watch that. It wouldn't be as beautiful as a SPL or GSL, but I'd certainly get some entertainment.
