What if in a couple of weeks, Earth is suddenly attacked by by outer-space Aliens, the aliens are being led by a human from Earth but is an ex-human at the time of the attack; the Aliens take over every government of every major country in the world, and set up collaborator governments (with humans). At this time, it's not clear why the Aliens are even interested in a backward species living on a backwater planet. But one hypothesis is that one of their goals is to make humans achieve singularity (think of the book "singularity is near" by Ray Kurzweil). Now the main question is, would you side with the Aliens or would you rebel against your new alien overlords?

I'm not sure if I understand what you mean about the aliens' goal...

In general I'd say if we are completely overwhelmed go along while assessing the situation and don't act up until we have some reasonable chance of success.

I came into this thread expecting a serious discussion, and I found it. I would definitely side with the aliens because from your description it seems like we'll just have the same world except everyone would be under the same rules.

It'd be fairly easy for the alien overlords to make a crude youtube video saying "help the aliens because they want to help you become awesome". However given they're looking for meek subjects to rule I wouldn't entirely trust that. Obviously I'm in favour of transcendence but given that the media is pretty much under control I wouldn't be entirely convinced when I heard rumours it was for our own good.
In practice, I'd still continue my life as normal.

I don't get why the aliens have to take over for us to achieve singularity or why they even care if we reach it. I probably wouldn't believe their bullshit excuse and would rebel is some fashion.

I startle after hearing those words, words speaking doom to our existence, to what we have come to value as human life. My mind processes the thoughts of an incoming invasion towards earth, and I can't help it but feel defeated, as if something of unmeasurable magnitude were to be on a collision course towards what I learned to call my home.

I would just continue my life in SCII and if I didn't have SCII when it happened I would go ahead and challenge the aliens to a game of SC:BW and play them Pv(wtf race they choose) or ask Day[9]/koreans/Idra/orb/painuser/thelittleone/white_ra/some other person besides myself to do it instead with the reasoning that I would most likely fail. If they didn't accept the challenge I would decide that if they could just turn the real world into SCII I would side with them and do pretty much anything they want.
