WCG Starcraft 2 event in NYC

I went to the WCG event in NYC for a little bit to check it out. It was held at the Samsung Experience in Columbus Circle. I was pretty hyped since that area is pretty upscale, and it definitely shows how far esports has come from. I honestly believe this was made possible because of SC2, because I can't imagine another game being able to take up half of this store in the middle of NYC.

As for the actual event, the participants were in the middle of the venue, with a dedicated tv that showed the stream of the tournament and an accompanying seating area. However, for people like myself who went to check out Dreamhack on the big screen, all we could do was stand on the sides. There was only one speaker dedicated to the Day9 stream and you couldn't hear it if you went to another area of the room as there was loud rock music playing.

All in all, great event, it really shows how far esports has come. With a little more planning in terms of accommodations for spectators, I feel like the event could be even better. Still, well done Samsung and WCG!

Your first paragraph is funny because they've held about six tournaments a year for a while now in other games.

Still, it's really awesome - I enjoyed it a ton (hehe ^^) and totally am hyped for more events!

Awesome! that place is so sweet I hope wcg does more events like this for sc2.
