So I'm posting this blog because I thought it might be something to talk aobut and a good relief to bring these thoughts to others.
So I am planing on going to anahiem. But here is the issue, i don't have the kind of money to afford to go. With the jobs I have currently, I don't make enough to go to anahiem on top of the bills and everything I have to pay. With the current economy and with students taking up summer jobs. the chance for a small part time job to get the funds to go is a non option.
So here were my thoughts. I have my stream set up here on tl and go online for about 10-12 hours a day and stream whatever I play. wether it be sc2, bw, or any other game.
With all that. Is it possible to auctally earn enough via streaming to be able to earn the last few hundred to make it to anahiem. of course I'm not considering auctally getting the money in time or anything.
In case for people wondering the trip costs about 1500 for airfare, hotel, taxi costs from airport and back. And the all important 1 non free meal a day (breakfast is free at hotel). I have about 600 so far. And if my job finally pays through I'll have about 750.
So just wondering if this is possible. Or would it be unlikely

No, I think to actually make money off of streaming you need consistent and a lot of viewers.

It seems to me that if you can't afford to go and have to go to extreme measures to get enough money to go, it's not really a good idea. Sure, it would be fun, but you're completely wiping out what you have for this potentially.
For your actual question, you'd need a good viewership, which is difficult to guarantee even for professionals. You usually build up a viewer-base over a longer period of time, so it'd be difficult to reach your goal in time.
Sorry

Where in Canada are you from?

I'm just outside toronto, but would be leaving from pearson. the flight itself costs about 700 with taxes. Hotel is about 600. Plus player fees and toxis and food. I maybe will able to almost pass on 1400

You can try to cut a portion off your travel expenses by asking around for a TLer's couch to sleep on.

Instead of streaming for 10-12 hours, get a job for 1-2 hours.

I don't think so, it really depends what kind of contract you have with your streaming service. In most cases, it won't be enough.

No, not at all. Definitely not lol.

shooting yourself in the foot like that. jobs everywhere, just gotta find them. beggars on the street even make a decent amount per day.

I guess you could try. I wouldn't recommend it at all. What is wrong with working at a job full or part time until then? The fact you claim there is not one out there means you are just too lazy to look for one. Guaranteed money is better than the hope you might have made enough from a service that doesn't guarantee you will make enough.

Where I am There are no jobs. I live in a small town with limited jobs avaiable. So right now with a huge influx of students looking for jobs. its hard to find them.
Thanks though I guess this can be closed now that it was answered

Have you tried getting a summer job? There has to be some job that you can get considering how many that goes on semester during the summer. The students cant fill up all the slots.

It sounds like you're kind of broke, yet you want to make this trip? Do you know anything about money management?

well yes and no. I'm not broke by any means. I have enough to sustain myself. Though not enough to pay for the trip. My current job pay enough where I am able to have enough money. But like I said jobs are limited, and for sure ones are very limited where I cna wokr for just enough to pay for the trip.
Here is a rough summary of jobs in my town.
There are 50,000 poepl in my town. And about 10,000 jobs in my town. Students before summer fill about 10-20% of those jobs. there are on average 2-3 thousands students coming back from college and uni looking for jobs. If even there were 2k jobs. It wouldn't be enough. I've been looking for a second job for awhile. but unable to find one. I even have gone to a family member who owns a small company. He even said he doesn't have enough work to warrant hiring another person.

Anaheim just doesn't seem possible a the moment dude. Should reconsider next year perhaps.

Just save your money, wait a little while, and road trip with someone to the MLG finals in Providence in November.

i'm also just outside toronto, where exactly?
and it would probably be cheaper to go to Raleigh and fly out of buffalo, but hey
