Yeah, I had a good session tonight with my friend. Playing against him I was cutting back on the karakusa attempts and noticed he started blocking a lot more, which in turn allowed me to dash in for karakusa. Going to work on MP usage, hayate canceling and meaty setups. Really wish they would organize the Makoto thread on SRK a bit better :p
Still feels good though to absolutely dominate the round :D
Anyways, could anyone tell me good follow-ups to hitting LP fukiage against air opponents? I tried hitting MK axe kick once, but it didn't seem to hit. j.MP didn't hit either. Looking for those juicy stun combos :D
Just hold u/f and do an instant MK axe kick. It's the best option and you'll have to keep practicing until you get it.
I forgot earlier but what you can/should go for is: ia axe kick, ex hayate. This one brings them closer to the corner ia ex axe kick. This one knocks them down on the spot.
I finally got to play the console version of AE. I had played it when I was in LA last back in January, but didn't get much actual experience. I can say I am extremely disappointed with the game though. With all the balance changes that happened from vanilla to super, AE has gone right back to where SF4 was back in the loctest. I do not understand how someone like Ono can say "having unbalanced characters will bring the community together." I am almost certain that he is just trolling everyone.
I am back after doing some research. If you guys are looking for info on new characters I suggest you just post here or only read the wiki. The character forums are so bad right now with a ton of information that is incomplete or just plain wrong. Especially the Yun forum haha.

Its a meta troll
Watch spooky talk about it...Ono not only is trolling because he knows people are retarded and listen to that shit, but quite frankly, developers barely know shit about balance. But that said you and everyone else need to stop being a little bitch about it. The twins aren't nearly as bad as Vanilla Sagat was , just that people like to bandwagon bitch and moan, just like the whole Terran OP phase that went on for fucking months. The twins are beatable if you play smart. Not to mention its basically equivalent of a gold league player whining about balance. In the end there are a hundred ways you can level up your game before you can start worrying about the tier charts.

Try playing a game where the developer intentionally puts in mechanics to make the game less competitive. Because, you know, sometimes athletes trip too.
I'd say, whenever they add new characters, they come off as weak (Fuerte/Hakan etc) or strong (Yun/Yang). My guess is that they nudged the twins more to the strong side, so that they can actually push this content. I mean, would you still want to get it if all the new characters you got were considered weak? How many people play Deejay for example? Fuerte? T.Hawk? Even Guy and Dudley don't get so much play. Ibuki and Makoto are only now getting a bit more solid, where they were considered pretty low tier in SSF4. Yun and Yang just hit the ground running, as Ono has already said that they won't patch balance and that there probably won't be any more additional content for SSF4AE.
But even looking at other fighting games, I'd say there are always some characters that stick out. BlazBlue CS2 has a group of characters that see most play, Guilty Gear did, MvC3 also does. First the big issue was Sentinel, now it's Phoenix (and Wesker to some extent). As these are competitive games, people will try to squeeze out every single last drop of advantage they can, but you also get the most practice against the 'overpowered' characters. As people get more experienced, the field levels out, as it did with 3S for example.
I do think it is going to be boring to watch all the Yun matches in tournaments, but the same thing happened with Sagat before. But my guess is that we'll see Makoto grow a lot. Hopefully we get to see stuff to the proportions of J's 3S Makoto again! :D
pretty cool match showcasing oni's crossup/reset lol by wildcat (the former online high ranked hakan player)
edit: lol just looked at the controller motions. gotta love how after the 2nd match sunset just began mashing for dear life at every combo to prevent further resets :D

So, Yun is completly broken ?
Yun isn't broken. Several characters can handle him quite well (ie Seth, gief). He may be deemed OP in certain regards, but not to the same level as SF2T Akuma or even vanilla sagat
Yeah 2T Akuma and Vanilla Sagat are on different levels than this, people just like to bitch early and often about Yun.
Online Oni's have just been spamming the crossup move non stop, when you see it coming just walk forward wait a fraction of a second in your mind then hit jab and you're golden.
Wow Honda got nerfed so bad, the oocho throw has like zero priority now, I don't know all the new characters very well I mostly just played SF2 and alpha 3 over the years... but facing YUN is fucking RIDICULOUS. He seems to be able to throw me after every single attack.
I find the only way for me to win using honda is to be extremely aggressive and play in a way hes not meant to play. good players always beat me because of how open I am after missing attacks all the time, its really frustrating.
I also hate the fact i lose like 300 PP sometimes to some scrub with 0 PP because he just got the game and was probably like 9000PP on ssf4.

I'm sorry, but no, this is not the same as a gold level player complaining about balance. The tier lists that people take seriously are ones that come from top players in Japan, not from people who have never played fighting games competitively who just have xbox live. This also is not like people whining about Terran being OP. The top rankings on SC2 are fairly well dispersed, unlike AE where 6 of the top 10 battle point rankings are Yun. I think that says something for balance.
While this is not something new, it's still pretty disappointing. Any ST tournament was going to be full of O.Sagat, 3s would be about 80% Chun-Li. While SSF4 was not the most balanced game, you did see a lot more variety in a tournament bracket.

battle points say absolutely nothing about balance. how can you say that with a straight face
SSF4 was also about as balanced as fighting games come. say whatever you want about this bullshit character or that bullshit character, but Vanilla Sagat never won a major in North America despite how godlike he was. Yun and Yang aren't on the same level of brokenness, but there are way more players now, way better players now, and they are very very popular, so people are going to know what they're doing, and you're going to perceive it as the characters being broken because you can't learn a matchup with your character.
we're also at a point now in SF4 where people are dedicated to their particular character. lots and lots of new people are playing Yun and Yang, lots of people are coming from other fighting games and picking up Yun and Yang, but we are still going to see great character diversity in big tournaments in this game.
I don't get why everyone is bitching about the char balance these days. MvC2 and 3S had really screwed up balance issues and people still loved em and played em to death. The fact is that when there are as many characters as there are nowadays in fighting games balance issues are around.

did a vanilla Sagat not named Tokido ever win major tournaments in Japan?
and... didn't Akuma get even higher than Sagat on the tier list after the game got played more?
imo vanilla Sagat was never broken to the extent that people thought...
